Chapter 888: Chapter 363 Warm Moments Chapter 888: Chapter 363 Warm Moments “`

Dream Island's space-based anti-missile system had just been activated when it successfully shot down four of The United States of America's intercontinental missiles and four GPS satellites. These eight were high-speed targets moving through space, and their simultaneous destruction demonstrated Dream Island's powerful anti-missile and anti-satellite capabilities–commonly known as the “Star Wars” capability.

The United States of America has always touted its “Star Wars” capability and used it to bankrupt the Soviet Union. However, despite decades of technological leaps, The United States of America never possessed the “Star Wars” capability. Conversely, it was Dream Island, a newcomer on the world stage, that had acquired this ultimate combat capability.

Many countries with global satellite surveillance capability had detected The United States of America's intercontinental missile launch as it happened. Not knowing the intended target of the attack induced widespread anxiety. Once they had computed that the four intercontinental missiles were not headed for them, but rather for Dream Island in the North Pacific, they all breathed a sigh of relief. Then they stood back to watch the show, observing developments with interest.

A few days earlier, Dream Island had launched an ultrlarge rocket that deployed 27 satellites into space at once. Twenty-four of these formed a global satellite network, while the other three were stationary in a geostationary orbit 36,000 kilometers away. Since the launch happened so quickly, Dream Island hadn't yet clarified the purpose of these satellites. Aside from the 24 satellites making up the network, nobody knew what those three geostationary orbit satellites were for.

But as The United States of America's intercontinental missiles entered space, Dream Island activated its space-based missile defense system. The destruction of The United States of America's intercontinental missiles and GPS navigation satellites revealed the true function of those three geostationary orbit satellites. They were essentially a space-based anti-missile platform located in outer space, and just like The United States of America, other nations quickly labeled this space anti-missile capability as “Star Wars.”

Judging by the results, Dream Island's space-based anti-missile system platform was incredibly formidable. With just eight anti-ballistic missiles launched, it destroyed eight significant American targets in space, showcasing extremely high interception efficiency.

These countries had previously estimated that Dream Island's geostationary orbit satellites weighed a massive 60 tons each. Based on their conventional calculations, they determined that such a geostationary satellite could carry a maximum of two anti-ballistic missiles. But they overlooked one detail: being in space, the anti-missile system platform didn't need to expend large amounts of fuel to reach orbit. Being already in space, it could accelerate to terrifying speeds with minimal fuel and then attack space targets.

Therefore, the missiles launched from the geostationary satellites were mostly loaded with powerful explosives and only a small part fuel. Under this design, a space-based missile could be incredibly light, allowing for a significantly increased payload capacity. A 60-ton geostationary orbit satellite could carry up to 60 anti-ballistic missiles.

Based on Dream Island's previously demonstrated interception efficiency, just one satellite could neutralize 60 space targets. And Dream Island had three such satellites. In other words, if Dream Island wished, it could destroy 180 space targets in one fell swoop. Many nations didn't even have more than 100 space targets, not enough to withstand a single attack by Dream Island. In an era heavily reliant on space capabilities, once a country lost its space assets, it would be sent back to the Stone Age, unable to rise again.

This grim reality left all nations in shock. They were also intensely curious about the source of Dream Island's advanced technology prowess. It had appeared suddenly, without any prior display of space-related high-tech products, yet they possessed the power to blockade a nation's space capabilities.

When Dream Island showed its formidable capacity for retaliation, everyone in The United States of America's Command Center was stunned. They had never anticipated that Dream Island would have the ability to intercept missiles and satellites in outer space, an adjustment that proved difficult for them. From that point on, whether The United States of America's rockets or intercontinental missiles could enter space depended on Dream Island's approval.

Dream Island could, at any moment, use its space-based missile defense missiles to destroy any rockets launched by The United States of America. Even if The United States of America wanted to launch missiles from the ground to attack the space-based missile defense platform, they wouldn't be able to do so, as their weaponry simply couldn't reach space. Moreover, Dream Island had the capability to destroy American satellites in space at any time–if they chose, they could wipe out all American satellites in space.

If The United States of America deployed its assassin satellites against the anti-missile platform, these assassin satellites might not evade the space-based missile defense system's capability and attack the target, potentially revealing their positions and getting destroyed by the anti-missile platform. Additionally, Dream Island had three such anti-missile platforms, and the assassin satellites were too few to destroy all three platforms simultaneously.
