Chapter 419
Chapter 419: Chapter 207 Ultimate Guardian_3 Chapter 419: Chapter 207 Ultimate Guardian_3 Yan Fei was startled as he realized that the disappearance of the glass cabinet had caused a change in floor pressure, resulting in hundreds of tiny probes emerging on the floor, ceiling, and surrounding walls. These probes corresponded with each other two by two, and whenever they aligned in any vertical, horizontal, or lateral orientation, they would emit a beam of red light. The red light emerged from one probe and traveled into the corresponding one, cycling endlessly without pause. These red beams formed a rectangular prism, trapping Yan Fei within, rendering him unable to move an inch from where he stood.
Yan Fei's mind raced and he pulled out a machine gun from Universal Space, extending it into the red beams surrounding him. To his surprise, the extremely tough gun barrel was cut off by the red beams as easily as if it were made of mud. As the gun barrel fell, it was further sliced by additional red beams, rapidly turning into even smaller fragments. By the time it reached the floor, the gun barrel had been reduced to fine particles.
A cold sweat broke out on Yan Fei's back as he realized that the red beams were actually high-energy lasers, incredibly powerful laser weapons capable of cutting through the solid gun barrel in mere moments. He was fortunate not to have tested them with his body; otherwise, he would have been maimed by now. However, Yan Fei soon felt gratitude, thankful that the laser weapons were only meant to trap the thief and not fire indiscriminately. Otherwise, he would not have been able to evade their attack and might have already perished right there.
As Yan Fei was trapped inside the laser, he heard the footsteps of the security personnel getting closer to the room he was in. In a sudden inspiration, he retrieved the hefty glass cabinet from Universal Space, intending to place it heavily on the floor to block the tiny probes and escape the laser array. However, while the cabinet was still in the air, it was sliced open by several beams of laser, revealing the Papal Scepter inside.
Yan Fei was startled, but instinctively reached out to grab the Papal Scepter and swiftly stowed it in Universal Space, sparing it from being shredded by the lasers. Unfortunately, the glass cabinet, along with its stand, was reduced to debris by the continuous assault of the lasers, failing to obstruct them or to damage the floor probes, trapping Yan Fei once again within the red curtain of light.
Faced with this predicament, Yan Fei felt somewhat helpless. The glass cabinet was perhaps the sturdiest thing he carried, yet it couldn't withstand the laser array for even a second before being completely annihilated. Moreover, the laser array was ingeniously designed; Yan Fei simply couldn't reach any of the laser probes, rendering him unable to deactivate the array. Unable to shut down the laser array meant he couldn't leave the room. What should he do to escape?
Yan Fei had just secured the object of his mission when he was suddenly trapped by the laser array, finding himself in a difficult situation. Meanwhile outside the Vatican, Captain China and Tripitaka were monitoring the situation inside, eager to learn the fate of the intruder they knew as the Destroyer. Suddenly, they heard a muffled explosion from within the Vatican, followed by a piercing alarm. The two exchanged glances, uncertain about what chaos the Destroyer had caused to make such a commotion and then be detected by mere human technological equipment.
Then they noticed storm clouds gathering over the Vatican's night sky, their expressions growing solemn. In a brief span, a large mass of dark clouds had amassed above, with occasional flashes of electrical light, yet oddly no thunder sounded– it presented an eerily abnormal sight.
Observing this unusual atmospheric phenomenon, both Captain China and Tripitaka simultaneously thought of a formidable individual. Their expressions turned grave, realizing the Vatican's ultimate defense was still in place. A hint of trepidation formed in their hearts, nearly persuading them to retreat on the spot.
