Super Invincible Battleship -
Chapter 1299
Chapter 1299: Chapter 512 Upgrade Mystery_2 Chapter 1299: Chapter 512 Upgrade Mystery_2 The United States of America, since launching its assault on Venezuela, has been constantly in the spotlight of international media. Yet even with the presence of journalists, the behavior of the United States showed no signs of restraint. Suffering from severe blood loss, in dire need of external replenishment, they cast aside all shackles, exposing the true nature of their army as a brutal force, shamelessly plundering Venezuela.
Everyone found it hard to accept this reality, plunging the world media into extreme chaos. As the image of the United States collapsed, questions arose about the need for freedom and democracy in the world, what future there was for the Western World, and how they could stand on the moral high ground to criticize other countries.
As the global situation grew increasingly chaotic, Dream Island remained silent, instead quietly strengthening its own power. During this time, Yan Fei focused all attention on finding the last two essential items for the drone upgrade.
There were only two more essential items for the drone upgrade left to find, but ever since acquiring three such items in Area 51, Yan Fei had received no further news about them. Although Artificial Intelligence “Dream” invaded various national networks and found many images in secret databases that were suspected to be essential items for the drone upgrade, when Yan Fei examined these images, the Auxiliary Brain showed no reaction, indicating the items he painstakingly identified were not the upgrade essentials he had imagined.
After Yan Fei obtained the essential items for the upgrade, he immediately handed them over to Yang Qi's laboratory for research, aiming to uncover their mystery and why they were required for the drone upgrade.
After thorough testing of these items, Yang Qi told Yan Fei explicitly that they were not manufactured by modern Earth technology. They had existed on Earth for at least tens of thousands of years, which meant if they weren't remnants of a possible Earth's prehistoric civilization, then they were likely brought to Earth by an alien civilization. This also confirmed from another aspect that the cosmic starry sky was not exclusively home to humans, and humans were not alone.
While testing these items, Yang Qi discovered something very amazing. These essential upgrade items had very simple geometric shapes and apart from their special material, they had no other apparent uses. However, Yang Qi found they possessed a very special property: zero error. For example, one of the essential upgrade items was a rectangular box that exhibited this property of zero error.
Earth humans typically do not perceive a true rectangle because what they consider a rectangle is, at best, a rectangle in a vague sense. They only appear to be rectangles, but upon closer examination with more sophisticated methods, it's clear they are irregularly shaped objects. There might be a slight tilt in one of the sides or one edge could be slightly longer or shorter than the others. Due to the inevitable inaccuracies in mechanical manufacturing, technological advancement can reduce errors but cannot completely eliminate them.
However, this rectangular upgrade essential item stands out from the vaguely defined rectangles–it is an absolutely true rectangle. Its opposite faces are perfectly parallel, all its opposite edges are equal in length, and edges intersecting at right angles are precisely perpendicular. It is without any error, at least in the eyes of Yang Qi.
An item without any errors is a formidable concept, exceeding the limits of Yang Qi's comprehension; he didn't know how such a thing could be manufactured. The drone's mini-production workshop, even with increased energy usage and improved production precision, could produce parts with precision down to one hundredth of a nanometer. This level of precision was beyond what Earth technology could conceive, yet errors still remained.
That is to say, Yang Qi could not produce a steel plate that was precisely one meter in length. No matter how careful he was or how sophisticated the equipment used, the steel plate he produced would always be a bit longer or shorter than one meter. That is an error, an inevitability that human technological civilization cannot completely eliminate.
But at this moment, the geometric shapes including the rectangular solids didn't have any errors, their surfaces were absolutely smooth, so smooth that even with Dream Island's current sophisticated resolution, not a single bump or indentation could be found.
It was these ordinary-looking geometric shapes that gave Yang Qi a feeling of shock as if heaven and earth had been turned upside down. He had never imagined that in this world, there could be objects of such precision, utterly free of error. Consider, if in mechanical manufacturing the ball bearings could be perfectly spherical and absolutely smooth or if two cogs meshed together without any friction. How high would the efficiency of force transmission be? What terrifying degree might the energy utilization rate reach? Perhaps in such machinery, lubricating oil would become entirely redundant.
By studying the manufacturing and material processes of these geometric items, Dream Island's relevant fields could make a leap forward in progress. Science was always about making connections, at least for Earth's current civilization. In some ways, Dream Island might even use these geometric items to propel the entire Earth civilization's technological progress.
After knowing Yang Qi's research results, Yan Fei had deep thoughts. He began to understand that all items essential for drone upgrades should contain something that could propel the advancement of civilizations or, in other words, technological points. By studying these items, people could achieve technological progress. This was also why that seemingly sci-fi wrecked warship from underground Africa wasn't an upgrade essential item, because it couldn't directly propel technological advancement or the force propelling technological advancement wasn't sufficient.
Drones evolved from toy drones to air-combat-capable Predator Drones, then to F-15 Fighter Jets, and later to B2 Stealth Bombers, achieving technological leaps with each production technique. Yan Fei hadn't understood the principles behind this before but now, he realized to achieve a transformative upgrade of the drone, it was necessary to add technological points, that is, to provide items containing technological points to the drone. Only after the drone had accumulated enough technological points could it leapfrog in technology and upgrade. This was why these items were called upgrade essential items.
Previous essential items for drone upgrades showed some rustiness, quite different from the clean and smooth current upgrade essential items. Yan Fei immediately understood that there must be different levels of quality for upgrade essential items. The rusted items from before were lower in quality, containing fewer technological points, but were already sufficient to support the drone upgrades at that time. Now, with drones at a higher level, any further upgrades would certainly surpass modern Earth technology, requiring even more technological points. At this point, the low-grade items from before could no longer satisfy the upgrade requirements; what was needed were obviously higher-grade essential items.
Yan Fei knew that other countries referred to drone upgrade essential items as special items; he even wrested one from the Americans in France. So, when only two items were needed for the next upgrade, he set his sights on these special items, hoping to achieve the drone upgrade by acquiring them. But after finally obtaining pictures of these special items, the drone had no reaction to them, indicating that not all special items were necessary for the drone upgrades, or that the special items currently under study by those countries were no longer sufficient for drone upgrades.
To find the last two drone upgrade essential items, Yan Fei could only continue waiting. However, he had a premonition that he would indeed find the last two essential items and upgrade the drone to Level 6, truly becoming invincible.
The depiction of zero errors in this chapter draws inspiration from “Rainbow Gate” by the author of “Rebirth of the Super Battleship,” who isn't a science major and therefore not always precise in the descriptions of technology. Having read the book before, the author is deeply impressed by the depiction of zero errors within, and thus, shamelessly borrowed several paragraphs, reworked them, and claimed them as their own; apologies for that!
“Rebirth of the Super Battleship,” a true science fiction novel, is recommended for everyone to read!
