Chapter 1009: 405 Chapter 1009: 405 Yan Fei silently stood up from the water, flicking his finger, an ice needle was launched, aiming straight for the prone Yang Liu. Immediately after, Yang Liu felt a slight itch beside the main artery on his neck, as if a mosquito were biting him.

Yang Liu slapped his neck with a “snap”, but didn't hit anything. He then pulled off the towel from his face and began to look around, only to spot a person dressed in black within the misty hot spring ahead, smiling at him while making a farewell gesture with his hand. Though no sound came out, Yang Liu understood the unspoken message, “Farewell forever!”

The prolonged soak in the hot spring had dulled Yang Liu's mental reflexes. However, he still managed to recognize that the person was his arch-enemy, Yan Fei. Yang Liu shuddered, realizing something was amiss–how had Yan Fei appeared there? Sensing danger, he tried to call out for help.

Just then, a severe pain erupted in Yang Liu's chest, causing his body to convulse and lose control. His mouth open and hands clutching at his chest, he made gurgling noises but could no longer convey his thoughts.

The ice needle's main component was a medicine that induced rapid cardiac paralysis. Yan Fei had previously used such needles to kill Yang Qing, and now it was Yang Liu's turn to experience this agony.

Seeing Yan Fei's mocking face heightened Yang Liu's fear. Even though his most skilled bodyguard was temporarily away, it should have been impossible for Yan Fei to enter the hot spring bath so stealthily without alerting the bodyguards outside. And yet, no warning had sounded from them, so how did Yan Fei get there?

As Yang Liu desperately pondered how to call the bodyguards inside, the pain in his heart intensified, completely stripping him of control over his body. His brain also began to slow down, preventing him from forming coherent thoughts…

Yang Liu had been leaning against the edge of the hot spring pool. Once control of his body was gone, he slid under the influence of the rippling water into the depths below.

Facing the tormenting pain in his heart, Yang Liu was terrified as he started to slip into the water. He tried to force himself to be calm and regain control to grab the pool's edge. But his body was unresponsive, as if he had suddenly suffered a paralyzing stroke. So all Yang Liu could do was watch helplessly as he slid into the hot spring and was completely submerged.

In his final glimpse before going underwater, Yang Liu saw Yan Fei's expressionless face, and suddenly he felt regret. If he had chosen to cooperate with Yan Fei instead of trying to take over Dream Technology, perhaps the situation would have been different.

However, even if Yang Liu regretted his actions, Yan Fei would not spare him. Water from the hot spring rushed into his mouth and nose, filling him with an unfathomable fear. He tried everything to regain control of his body, but in vain. Yang Liu began to drown, unable to move due to the excruciating pain in his heart, helplessly inhaling the spring water into his lungs…

Although Yang Liu was elderly, in that moment, he mustered the last of his life's energy. But it was only a feeble struggle at the bottom, entirely futile for his predicament. Two minutes later, Yang Liu stopped moving, his face down, suspended at the bottom of the hot spring pool.

Throughout the ordeal, Yang Liu made very little noise. Until he was completely still, the bodyguards waiting outside did not detect anything unusual and hence did not come to his rescue.

Yan Fei stood above the water's surface, watching Yang Liu's helpless struggle until he was still. Yan Fei remained expressionless throughout; he believed everyone should pay for their mistakes, and as Yang Liu had wronged both him and Dream Island, he naturally had to pay. The price was, however, very steep–total death.

After another ten minutes, the still body of Yang Liu at the bottom of the hot spring confirmed his death to Yan Fei.

Once he verified Yang Liu was dead, Yan Fei had no desire to linger. He dove into the spring, returned through the same underwater tunnel, and changed into his diving suit. In the hot spring pool above, Yang Liu's motionless body was left behind.

Yan Fei's plan had been precise, intended to disassociate himself from the death of Yang Liu. Throughout the process, he had no contact with Yang Liu, and since there were no surveillance cameras in the hot spring bath, Yan Fei did not leave any evidence behind, nor would anyone link Yang Liu's death back to him.

After changing back into his diving gear, Yan Fei left through lateral tunnels, then used quick-drying cement to seal the entrance, and covered the rock wall outside with mud and sand, completely concealing the suspicious area underneath.
