Chapter 270 - 270: Royal Demon Palace (3) - Too Many Spiders
"What are we going to do?" William asked.
The situation didn't look favorable. But there was a way out.
"They don't like fire," Jhen said. "Can you use your magic?"
Among the three, William and Jhen had good mastery over black fire magic. Victoria was the one who needed to improve the most in that area.
Jhen wanted to focus on protecting Victoria, while also giving cover to William as he prepared his spells.
William didn't hesitate. He started channeling his black fireball. As soon as the spiders saw the fire, they began making strange noises, clearly scared of that magic.
The fireball also helped illuminate the place, allowing Jhen and Victoria to better see the creatures' movements. That made a huge difference.
He aimed at one of the spiders and launched the fireball. While the spell flew towards the creature, he was already channeling another one!
His demonic essence was high, and since he had great mastery over that particular magic, the mana cost was much lower. William could cast it multiple times without much trouble.
Naturally, he wanted to take advantage of that. It was the best thing to do.
Of course, the spiders wouldn't just stand there. They started moving, trying to dodge the fireball, and also prepared to attack them.
One of the spiders shot its webs directly at Jhen. She tried to defend herself and managed to cut through the web with her sword. But another spider did the same thing, attacking her from behind.
There was no way she could dodge that. The web trapped both her and Victoria. It wasn't as strong as the one blocking the mine's exit, but it was still a pain to deal with.
It wasn't something Jhen could easily destroy. Another spider rushed in and jumped on Victoria, trying to bite her with its fangs and inject venom.
Jhen didn't allow it. She stepped between the spider and Victoria and managed to block the attack at the last second. But it came at a cost — she got bitten in Victoria's place.
The venom entered her veins. It was a powerful toxin.
William ran toward them and used the opportunity to attack the spider from behind. He focused his demonic energy into his sword, imbuing it with fire.
His movements were fast. With a single swing, he sliced the spider in half. It was an impressive strike.
The attack was so effective because it caught the spider completely off guard and from behind.
"Are you okay?" William asked.
Jhen didn't look well. "I don't know if I can help much in this fight… I think you're the only one who can resist the venom and keep fighting..."
The situation was bad. Jhen was practically out of the fight, and Victoria wasn't exactly the best person to back William up.
In the end, the fight was in his hands. He grabbed Jhen and Victoria and carried them to a corner, away from the spiders. To keep the spiders from following them, he used his fire magic. It worked very well.
Once they were safe, William said, "I'm going to fight them alone. Stay here."
Jhen and Victoria disliked the idea of William going to fight alone. But there was nothing they could do about it. One of them needed to rest because of the venom, and the other would only get in his way during the fight and not help much.
"I want to help," Victoria pledged.
"You need to stay here to keep an eye on Jhen. Can you do that for me? She can't be alone with the venom in her veins."
Victoria wanted to say something else, but she didn't. She kept quiet and nodded.
William ran toward the spiders once again. To his surprise, one of the spiders actually spoke. Its voice was melodic.
"Do you really want to fight against us alone? We will eat you alive!"
He didn't care. He simply activated his demonic transformation. A dark and red aura appeared around him, his eyes turned crimson, and even his sword, Asura, changed.
The power flowing through his body increased by a lot. All of his attributes received a massive boost, and he also unlocked new abilities to use. That was his current strongest form.
It surprised the spiders. They weren't expecting such an increase in power. To be honest, no one ever did. Every time William used his transformation, people got shocked. It was really something else.
With Asura in hand, he chose the closest target. It was one of the spiders on the ceiling. Using his incredible strength, he jumped, heading straight toward it.
His movements were incredibly fast. The spider didn't even have a chance to dodge. His sword pierced through its chest, killing it instantly.
But he didn't stop there. He tossed his sword toward another spider. The sword flew like a bullet, piercing through another heart before hitting the stone wall of the mine, where it got stuck.
William then used the ceiling to his advantage, pushing his body forward. He reached the wall where his sword was stuck.
He grabbed it. During that moment, another spider tried to attack him, hoping to catch him while he was unarmed.
William turned around and sliced the head off the spider that tried to bite him. Just like that, he killed several spiders in a matter of seconds. That was how strong he was during his transformation.
The only problem was that the number of spiders was still really high. There were many of them surrounding him.
An abandoned mine like that was the perfect place for them to live, and considering it had been abandoned for a long time, the spiders had reproduced and now existed in large numbers.
William hoped that his transformation would last long enough for him to kill all the spiders.
"Impressive," the same spider said, "but can you defend against all of us?"
The spider did a strange sound with its mouth, and then after a few seconds, even more spiders showed up. Those spiders weren't just female hybrids but male hybrids, and some ordinary giant spiders that didn't have a human portion.
There were too many of them, all prepared to attack William.
