Chapter 939: Chapter 939: Monthly Exams Again (5th update, seeking subscriptions)
Having left everything to Eleanor Grant and her team, Peter Brown focused on checking the weather forecast these days. He would immediately fly to any place with a thunderstorm on his flying sword. After going to several places, Peter’s immortal power in his Elixir Sea increased significantly.
Sitting in the classroom and checking the immortal power in his Elixir Sea, Peter felt genuinely happy. He should be able to break through a barrier again soon.
After returning to the Cultivation World, Peter’s greatest desire was to break through a barrier and see if he could enter the Earth a hundred years later to see what had happened.
As Peter thought about this, he came up with a new idea. Even if he returns to the Cultivation World, he will need to gather immortal power to enter the future Earth. So why not gather more immortal power here on Earth? Ideally, he would gather enough power to go from Earth to the Cultivation World, then from the Cultivation World to the future Earth, and back again. That would require three or four times the amount of immortal power.
Peter was even worried that there might be some problem with the future Earth. Without immortal power, he wouldn’t be able to return to the Cultivation World at all.
Well, he might as well gather power slowly. For now, he doesn’t even have a single portion of immortal power. The more power he gathers, the better.
While Peter was deep in thought, Flora Nelson walked in.
As soon as she entered the classroom, Flora said to the students, "The next monthly exam is tomorrow. Last time Peter Brown achieved the highest score in the whole grade, this time many students want to compete for the first place, so Peter has a lot of pressure."
Her words carried a playful tone, and the students in the class all glanced at Peter.
Flora then became serious and said, "Many of our classmates have made significant progress over the past month. I hope everyone will do their best on the exam and strive for good results."
After she said much more, Flora left, happy with the class’s progress. She had also secretly observed that the seven poor students who followed Peter had made considerable progress. They were now studying diligently every day, and she believed they would achieve good results this time.
As soon as Flora left, Elian Collins excitedly said, "Finally, it’s time for another exam. Great!"
Hearing this, the whole class looked at him.
One classmate jokingly said, "Elian Collins, I didn’t expect you to actually like taking exams now. The sun must be rising from the west!"
"Haha, ever since those seven people started learning from Peter, they’ve been full of confidence. I heard they even want to compete for the top spots. They must not be afraid of overinflating their egos."
Everyone was discussing quietly.
Chen Spencer whispered to Peter, "Edward Lee said that if he loses to you in this exam again, he will run fifty laps on the playground."
Peter just smiled and asked, "How have you all been learning?"
Max Evans patted his chest and said, "I’ve been waiting for a chance to show off. Don’t worry about this time. We definitely won’t let you down!"
As they talked, everyone’s eyes turned to the door, where several students had appeared.
"Peter Brown, I challenge you!"
One student shouted at Peter.
Those who followed him also shouted, "Peter Brown, just because you got first place last time, doesn’t mean you can refuse to compete with Edward Lee this time. Are you up for the challenge?"
Peter’s eyebrows slightly furrowed, as he hadn’t expected this.
"Edward Lee, who’s afraid of you? I can surpass you!" Landon Smith roared.
At this point, Edward Lee was in a difficult spot. His classmates were egging him on, along with the girls from the class. He couldn’t refuse to challenge Peter. Of course, he didn’t really see Peter as a good student but figured he might as well compare himself to him.
"Peter Brown, if you’re a man, say something!"
Edward Lee looked at Peter.
Peter smiled and asked, "What kind of challenge do you have in mind?"
"The loser runs twenty laps on the playground!"
"Alright, I accept your challenge." Peter wasn’t afraid of this challenge.
Edward Lee’s challenge quickly became a hot topic throughout the entire grade, and even the teachers in their offices knew about it.
"Mr. Carter, your student Peter Brown might have met his match this time. Edward Lee wasn’t comfortable with being surpassed by Peter last time," a teacher said with a smile to Flora.
Christopher Williams said, "That’s right. Now everyone is watching Peter to see if he has genuinely improved in his studies."
Flora laughed and said, "I think this kind of challenging behavior among the students is good. Competition leads to progress. I, too, want to see how they’ll do."
As they were talking, the principal walked in.
Upon entering the office, Principal Nolan Smith said seriously, "Peter Brown’s performance in the last exam caught the attention of The Higher-Ups. The Education Committee is very serious about this exam and decided to hold a unified monthly exam for the entire county. The results will be ranked, and invigilators will be exchanged between schools. Teachers from other schools will invigilate our exam. So, the monthly exam will be rescheduled to the day after tomorrow."
Hearing this, the teachers’ expressions became serious, as they knew that this would be a ranking battle for the entire county. Nobody knew what would happen.
Nolan Smith continued, "This monthly exam will essentially be the final baseline exam, so everyone should take it seriously."
As Nolan Smith left, the teachers began to discuss the situation heatedly. No one had expected the monthly exam to become like this.
Christopher Williams said, "Seems like many schools are unhappy with Peter Brown’s grades."
Another teacher said, "Yeah, I heard some teachers from other schools are spreading rumors that our school is messing around, and it’s a complete forgery that a poor student like Peter could score so well."
"Peter Brown has indeed made significant progress."
Flora added.
"Whether he has improved or not, last time’s exam was just an internal one, and the results don’t count. The real test will be the day after tomorrow’s unified exam. If Peter does poorly, our school’s reputation will also be affected. Mr. Carter, you cannot take this matter lightly. You might be the only one who knows the real situation of Peter Brown," said the teachers, expressing their lack of trust in Peter.
Christopher Williams snorted and said, "Mr. Carter, you should really take this seriously. This is about our school’s reputation."
Flora wanted to say something but decided against it. She stood up and said, "I’ll go and inform the class."
Watching Flora leave, the teachers shook their heads, not holding out much hope for Peter’s exam results.
