Chapter 934: Chapter 934: Why does Immortal Power Go Underground? (5th Update)

As Peter was walking, he saw dark clouds gathering in the sky above, signaling the approach of a thunderstorm.

Despite the weather conditions, a look of joy spread across Peter’s face. He knew that when the thunder and lightning arrived, he would be able to absorb Immortal power, which was a good thing for him.

Indeed, right when Peter arrived at an open and deserted place, thunder reverberated and lightning crackled across the full expanse of the sky, signifying the advent of the storm.

Strong winds roared and lightning lacerated the sky, turning it entirely dark. Seated in the open, not a single drop of rain touched Peter.

At this point, Peter found a secluded spot and sat cross-legged in mid-air.

He summoned his Invisibility Talisman, not wanting anyone to discover his presence.

Thunder boomed and echoed all around Peter.

Sure enough, after each clap of thunder, Immortal power dispersed throughout the sky. Peter mobilized all the power within him and, as he employed his Immortal techniques, absorbed the scattered Immortal power into his Elixir Sea.

However, today’s thunderstorm was clearly more powerful. Thunder echoed everywhere, and Immortal power was dissipating all around, so much so that even with Peter constantly running his Cultivation Technique, he could not absorb all of it.

Since he couldn’t fully absorb it, Peter could only watch as bits of Immortal power burrowed into the ground.

At the beginning, Peter hadn’t paid much attention to this. But after a while, he wore a contemplative expression on his face.

Strange!

At this point, Peter encountered something he failed to understand. The Immortal power wasn’t disappearing in the air, nor was it drifting upwards. Every bit of the scattered Immortal power without fail was burrowing into the ground.

That’s not right!

Peter was completely befuddled. If the earth could absorb Immortal power, why hadn’t he discovered any Immortal power on Earth previously?

Peter had since figured out that spiritual energy was actually the product of Immortal power being infinitely diluted. Essentially, spiritual energy was just watered-down Immortal power unknown to everyone, only making an appearance when Immortal power was present.

The absence of spiritual energy on Earth, according to Peter’s initial assumption, was due to the Heavenly Dao being cut off. Now observing the current situation, Peter had a new round of guesswork. Perhaps there were circumstances that he had yet to uncover.

Concentrating his Divine Sense, Peter locked onto a bit of the Immortal power that was burrowing into the ground. He followed the direction of the Immortal power downwards, eager to understand the reasons behind this phenomenon.

However, after the Immortal power burrowed into the ground, it seemed as though it was being pulled by a formidable force and quickly descended towards the core of the Earth.

At first, Peter could keep up with his Divine Sense, but descending deeper beneath the Earth required a great deal of effort. As he descended further, it became increasingly harder for Peter to extend his Divine Sense.

After an unknown period of time, the Immortal power continued to descend. However, Peter was unable to keep up with his Divine Sense.

Noticing that the Immortal power had disappeared further below, Peter had no choice but to withdraw his Divine Sense.

By this time, the sky had cleared, and an aura of exhaustion enveloped Peter.

Although he had collected a significant amount of Immortal power from the storm, Peter was troubled. He could not have expected this turn of events.

Looking at the Earth, Peter had a hunch that there was something unknown deep beneath its surface.

How peculiar!

Peter was genuinely confounded now. He thought he had a pretty good idea about Earth, but his current observations showed that there was plenty he didn’t understand.

He would have to deeply explore the Earth’s core!

Looking into his Elixir Sea, Peter noticed quite a bit more Immortal power. However, this wasn’t sufficient to break through the barrier, and Peter had no immediate plans to do so.

Instead of riding his sword, Peter hovered in the air, stepping far forward with each brief stride, heading towards his dwelling.

In no time, Peter had arrived home.

After showering and getting into his casual clothes, he made a pot of Spiritual Tea. Sitting there, thinking about the Immortal power, he felt restless. The idea that Earth absorbed Immortal power was like a bomb buried in the planet.

People believed that the severance of the Heavenly Dao had resulted in no spiritual energy on Earth. Who knew Earth harbored such secrets?

Peter even had a guess that likely, after absorbing Immortal power, Earth could release spiritual energy. The spiritual energy on Earth should be fairly potent. However, due to something or the other under the surface absorbing Immortal power yet failing to release it, it resulted in Earth lacking spiritual energy.

If indeed there was a powerful entity absorbing the Immortal power of Earth, then the day this entity reached a certain level of power, Earth’s doom would probably be imminent.

As he was deep in thought, Peter heard a knock at the door.

Upon opening the door, he saw Eleanor Grant standing there, looking radiant.

She was wearing tight white jeans that hugged her long legs tightly, accentuating their fantastic shape. Above, she wore an elegant blouse, the casual nature of the thin fabric emphasizing her full bosom even more.

Looking at her hair, the wavy lavender strands reaching her shoulders, a fragrance freshly out of the shower rushed at him.

Probably due to the relief she was feeling, Eleanor appeared even more attractive today.

Seeing her like this, Peter was compelled to compliment her silently. Such a girl with great Spiritual Roots would only go unnoticed in a backward place like Earth. If she were discovered by a major sect in the Cultivation World, they would fall over themselves to accept her.

"Peter, I’ve just finished processing the papers." Eleanor said as she saw Peter.

Peter ushered Eleanor in and asked, "Everything was handed over to you?"

"Yes, I finished all the paperwork today. He promised me he wouldn’t bother me anymore. Also, the employees he placed in my company won’t be affected. Peter, I really appreciate this."

"It’s not a big deal, and this is a good outcome. Since you’re free now, what are your next steps?"

"I don’t have anything planned. If you’ll accept me, I’ll serve you faithfully."

As she spoke, Eleanor gave Peter a hopeful look.
