Chapter 566: Chapter 565: Heading North
"You want to take a leave of absence?"
After the meeting, Peter Brown sought Alexander Lee for a few days off, explaining that he hadn’t returned home since being discharged from the army and wanted to visit his elders.
At this moment, Eleanor Smith looked at Peter with a complicated expression, unsure what to say. In her eyes, Peter was no longer a simple character but a cunning mastermind.
Alexander also looked at Peter. He was genuinely speechless about Peter’s performance today. Peter seemed to have pushed all his credit outwards, but in reality, he had garnered admiration from all the county leaders. His career prospects were bright.
"Township Head Wang, you still have to handle poverty alleviation in the two villages."
Peter just smiled and said, "Actually, I’ve already devised the poverty alleviation plans for both villages. Just follow the plans, and anyone in the village can do a good job."
Alexander sighed once more, impressed by Peter’s humility. Peter voluntarily took a step back despite being on the verge of success. His mindset was truly admirable.
"Since that’s the case, Mayor Wang, I’ll grant you seven days’ leave. There are still many things to handle in the village."
"That’s enough. Thank you."
A smile appeared on Peter’s face.
Alexander patted Peter on the shoulder and said, "Have a good rest."
Eleanor initially wanted to ally with Peter to challenge Alexander. To her surprise, Peter had no interest in competing. He could have expanded his influence using his political achievements, but he chose to back out. Eleanor’s plans were now unattainable.
Peter decided not to return to the village right away. Instead, he stayed in County Town and prepared to investigate the Arctic Nation.
Ever since he heard about the Biohumans from Adonis Harrison, Peter grew concerned. If the biohumans in this country formed an army, it would not bode well for the Hua Nation. He intended to personally verify whether these biohumans were indeed half-demon beasts infused with demon beast blood as he had guessed.
For now, Peter set aside his thoughts about Alexander and continued with his plans. As he had mentioned, implementing his designs for poverty alleviation would be easy, even for others. His strategy involved developing leisure facilities along the highway, promoting ceramic tile production in Tilted Sunset Village, and fostering agritainment and flower cultivation in the hill village alongside the road construction. The entire county would soon thrive with these big projects fueling smaller ones. No wonder the county leaders were eager to carry out his plans.
Peter didn’t want to expose himself or pay heed to the benefits. Now, his mind was focused on the issue of biohumans.
Without contacting Adonis Harrison, Peter activated the Invisibility Talisman and began flying on his sword.
As a cultivator at the Qi Refining Eleventh Layer, Peter had no issue flying on his sword.
Soon, Peter entered the Arctic Nation’s territory.
Peter didn’t know where the biohumans were located, so he headed towards the North Pole while extending his Divine Sense for investigation.
To his surprise, the biohumans of the Arctic Nation were hidden in the glaciers, far away from where people would typically look.
Peter carefully proceeded, unsure what kind of biohumans had been created by the Arctic Nation.
In the freezing cold and harsh snow, Peter was unfazed. His True Qi circulated within his body, keeping him warm.
As Peter approached the mountain, he discovered a considerable mountain peak.
Hidden within this mountain!
Peter had always held a grudge against the Northern Region for having seized a large portion of Hua Nation’s territory.
With the Invisibility Talisman in his possession, Peter was not afraid of being discovered. He left no footprints in the snow,
Suddenly, Peter felt a shiver run down his spine, and he looked towards the mountain peak.
At that moment, two people emerged from the mountain.
Cultivators!
Two tall, powerful cultivators appeared before Peter.
"Who’s there?"
The leader of the two Cultivators shouted.
He was discovered!
Peter wondered how he was detected despite acting so carefully, suspecting that infrared or some other investigative device revealed his presence.
Remaining hidden, Peter stood there and watched.
Both of the Cultivators were Foundation Establishment stage experts!
It seemed that this nation hid its top experts quite well!
Upon discovering two Foundation Establishment stage experts, Peter became even more cautious.
In the past two massive teleportations, very few experts from the Arctic Nation were seen.
Now, Peter finally understood the situation. The Arctic Nation hid its most powerful individuals, likely waiting for a day when all the other experts were gone.
With the Foundation Establishment stage experts and biohumans, what exactly did this nation want to do!?
Peter pretended not to hear them, remaining still and silent.
The two tall individuals from the Arctic Nation looked puzzled. Their instruments had detected an expert’s presence, but the target remained hidden, making it difficult to flush them out.
The two exchanged a glance and charged their True Qi in different directions to bombard the surroundings furiously.
Unfortunately, they were up against Peter, who remained still and watched them bombard the area.
After failing to force the intruder out, one of the two shouted into his communicator: "Switch on all the infrared lights and enable defenses."
They were prepared!
Peter now knew that the mountain should be their core area.
At this moment, Peter miraculously found ten Foundation Establishment stage experts appear.
This nation was incredible, secretly cultivating so many Foundation Establishment experts. But how did they achieve this?
Suddenly, a formation emerged and encircled the entire mountain.
Such an arrangement!
As he observed the situation, Peter’s expression grew more solemn. He felt that the Arctic Nation must have gained tremendous benefits during the moon landing—far more than just ordinary benefits.
