Chapter 558 - 557: Solution
Chapter 558: Chapter 557: Solution
Peter Brown and Gael Armstrong arrived at Tilted Sunset Village. Seeing the village leaders staying specifically to address the water shortage issue, the entire village held an affectionate attitude towards Peter.
"Township_Head_Wang, the conditions in our village aren’t very good, but Hunter Long’s family has better conditions. We will arrange for you to stay at their house temporarily."
"I don’t mind where I stay, I’m here to get things done."
Gael Armstrong brought Peter to a dilapidated house on the west side of the mountain.
"Hunter Long, Hunter Long."
As Gael Armstrong called out, several people came out from the house.
Upon inspection, Peter noticed that compared to others in the village, this family dressed relatively better, and even their child wore shoes, albeit an old pair of sneakers.
"Township_Head_Wang, please forgive our humble home."
Rubbing his hands, Hunter Long looked at Peter timidly.
It was apparent that the matter of staying at his home was discussed beforehand.
Peter smiled and said, "Sorry for the inconvenience."
"Not at all, we’re honored to have you in our home."
Gael Armstrong said, "Township_Head_Wang, Hunter Long works outside the village every year and has made some money. His family has slightly better living conditions compared to others in the village. We originally wanted to invite you to stay at our home, but our house isn’t as good as this one."
Peter politely thanked him. After Gael Armstrong left some instructions for Hunter Long, he left.
When Hunter was gone, Peter looked at the family members. Hunter Long was in his forties, and his wife was a typical rural woman. Their son was obviously in his twenties, and their daughter-in-law was a beautiful girl around seventeen or eighteen.
After talking with the Long family, Peter learned that the wife’s name was Chloe Woods, the son was Emory Long, and the daughter-in-law was Julie Jackson.
"Township_Head_Wang, we’ve cleaned up a room for you. What do you think?"
Peter noticed that it was indeed a tidy little single room. Most importantly, it was a separate, secluded space, much better than the other, more open rooms.
"It’s nice, and the bedding has already been arranged by the villagers. We’ll just need to lay it out later." Peter was satisfied with the room.
In fact, Peter didn’t necessarily have to stay there at night, as he could enter the cave in the township for cultivation in a flash.
After chatting for a while outside, Peter asked Hunter Long about the water situation.
Hearing the question, Hunter Long said, "Actually, I’ve researched this water source issue before. It mainly comes down to money. If we can solve the money issue, we can definitely bring water from the other side."
Peter Brown was suddenly interested, asking, "Really? Is there a solution?"
Hunter Long replied, "Township_Head_Wang, come with me and take a look."
When the two came to the back of the mountain, Hunter Long pointed across and said, "Township_Head_Wang, look, there’s a waterfall over there. The terrain there is similar to ours, even higher than here. If we have pipes, we can use a siphon system to bring the water here."
Peter was thoroughly impressed with Hunter Long’s idea and praised, "You even understand siphon systems?"
Hunter Long smiled and said, "While working outside, I’ve seen some things, including this method. I have checked, and it’s almost the same as our situation here."
Peter stood there and thought carefully about what Hunter Long said. Hunter was right; the small river at the foot of the mountain wasn’t deep. The main issue was that it was hard to bring water up. Furthermore, it had a unique terrain which made it impossible to collect water from below.
Emory Long said, "Township_Head_Wang, there’s a cliff below us, and it’s long. If it weren’t for this, we would be able to get water. But now, it’s impossible."
Peter nodded and said, "It seems that the problem now is money."
"Exactly, if we had money, we could set up pipelines using a siphon system and bring water to the surface directly."
The more Peter thought about it, the clearer his idea became. He slapped his thigh and said, "Let’s do it!"
Hunter Long asked, "Township_Head_Wang, have you found a solution?"
"When I came to the village, I saw there were kilns. Do you fire ceramics in the village?"
"We only fire bricks and tiles for our own use; they don’t have much purpose."
Peter shook his head and said, "You haven’t explored all possibilities. Since you can fire bricks and tiles, if we adjust the process a bit, can we fire ceramic pipes as well? When we connect them, won’t we have a pipeline?"
Emory Long said, "The strength won’t be enough!"
Peter laughed; others may be unable to make a strong pipe, but that doesn’t mean he, a Master Artificer, couldn’t. He could simply reinforce the ceramic pipes fired by the villagers, making them nearly as strong as steel pipes.
Even without using artificer techniques, Peter had a recipe for refining pipes that could make them just as strong as steel.
"Let’s go find Gael Armstrong." Peter turned and walked away quickly.
The Long family looked at each other, speechless about Peter’s idea.
However, since Peter wanted to do it, they couldn’t object.
Soon, Peter met with Gael Armstrong and explained his plan. Gael shook his head and said, "Township_Head_Wang, this won’t work. They only fire bricks and tiles. If you ask them to fire ceramic pipes, you’d be asking for the impossible."
Peter Brown smiled and said, "Of course, we won’t use the villagers’ method. Don’t worry, I know pottery. We’ll need to modify the kiln according to my method and improve the recipe. As long as we follow my method, we can definitely make pipes, and their quality can match steel pipes."
Gael Armstrong looked at Peter in astonishment and asked, "Really?"
Peter laughed and said, "What’s there to doubt? In any case, it won’t cost much, and the whole project could be completed for a small amount of money."
Gael slapped his thigh and said, "Let’s do it your way!"
Peter reassured him, "Don’t worry, this can be done."
"Since everyone has nothing else to do, let’s work on this project together."
Peter nodded and said, "If this is done well, the ceramic pipe project can also become an economic growth point for the village. Organize the villagers who can do this, and I will teach them."
Gael was a straightforward person. He quickly gathered those in the village who were skilled in firing bricks and tiles.
As Peter looked at them, he nodded subtly and said, "Today I will teach you a whole new refining technique. If done well, our village’s water source problem will be completely resolved."
A farmer said, "Township_Head_Wang, although we fire bricks and tiles, this is also related to water. During the slack season, water is released upstream, and we use that time to refine. With the current situation, there’s a water shortage. How can we fire?"
Peter replied, "We must overcome the difficulties. This is a matter for the entire village. When water is released, we can store some of it. I’ve checked, and this time the water usage won’t be too large."
Shortly after, everyone began to research the refining process.
