Chapter 471: Chapter 470: The First Job
In this villa, the landlady divided the space into nine rooms to rent out to nine people. Peter Brown couldn’t help but shake his head at this arrangement.
Peter lived on the top floor, where he shared it with two other girls. However, after noticing Peter’s attire, they didn’t pay him much attention.
Without concerning himself with their situation, Peter cleaned his room and then locked the door and went out.
Now that he only had 1,000 yuan left from the original 5,000, Peter realized how quickly money can be spent.
Peter remembered that job fairs were held at the talent market, so he went there after asking a police officer for directions.
Peter decided that, no matter what, he had to hide his cultivation as much as possible. He could only reveal it when absolutely necessary.
Arriving at the talent market, Peter found that it was crowded with people looking for jobs.
After checking various stalls, Peter realized his biggest problem was not having a diploma. The minimum requirement was a high school degree. Since he was sent to prison before graduating high school and had assumed a farmer’s identity for cultivation, it was impossible for him to produce any formal education proof.
A few hours later, Peter had no choice but to leave the talent market without finding a job that day.
Peter was speechless at the fact that he couldn’t find a job.
After eating a bowl of noodles outside, Peter returned to the residential area. The security guards seemed to have recognized him as a resident, so they didn’t stop him.
Entering the villa, Peter saw several girls sitting on the living room sofa, watching TV.
The landlord had left a set of sofas and an ordinary TV in the living room.
When the girls saw Peter entering, their gazes turned towards him. One of them smiled and said, "You’re not the real Peter Brown, are you? Haha, everyone wants to be Peter Brown now!"
Another girl laughed, "Someone in our company went abroad and had surgery to look like Peter Brown. He said looking like Peter Brown brings good luck."
The girls were all attractive, and they laughed together.
They were casually dressed, perhaps because they were at home.
"Hey, handsome, come sit with us. I need to talk to you about something," one of the girls said to Peter.
Then, she turned to another girl and said, "Xiao Jiang, go call the others. We need to settle some matters today, or things will get messy."
When everyone gathered, Peter was astonished to find that he was the only male resident, and all the others were beautiful girls.
Of course, Peter understood that urban girls knew how to dress well, so it wasn’t surprising that they were all attractive.
One of the girls who arrived late commented, "Fortunately, we have a handsome guy here."
Once everyone sat down, the girl who organized the gathering said, "Let me introduce myself, I’m Sophia Jackson. I wanted to discuss dividing expenses among the nine of us living here. Utility bills can be easily determined by the meter, so there’s no problem there. However, it’s difficult to allocate the water bill since there’s only one meter downstairs. All of us girls probably use more water than our handsome friend here."
Peter quickly said, "Let me introduce myself, I’m Felix Walter. I’ll just pay the same amount as everyone else for the water bill. We don’t have to be so precise."
Sophia nodded approvingly and asked the others, "So, what do you guys think?"
"I have a few things to say. My name is Isabella Williams. Since our handsome friend has spoken, let’s just average the water bill. When the bill comes, we’ll split it evenly. The same goes for hygiene expenses. There’s no need to make it so complicated," Isabella said.
"My name is Echo Bennett. I want to talk about our meal arrangements since we’re all living here," Echo proposed.
Everyone started discussing the matter of meals as eating out can be challenging, and cooking at home is more cost-effective.
Peter ended up surrounded by beautiful women and had no right to comment, so he could only listen to their discussions.
However, Peter realized that out of the eight women, only two or three knew how to cook.
"Hey, handsome, why didn’t you say anything during the discussion? Share your thoughts," Echo asked, looking at Peter.
Peter saw that all the women were looking at him and said, "From what I just heard, it seems that none of you know how to cook very well, do you?"
At that, some of the girls blushed.
One girl named Rosemary Thompson suggested, "Why don’t we hire a cook?"
Her suggestion ignited a lively discussion among the girls, as meal arrangements seemed to be a significant issue for them.
"How about we each contribute a few hundred yuan per month for food expenses? If we have someone who can cook among us, we can ask him to cook," suggested a girl named Dawn Carter.
Isabella Williams agreed, "I think that’s a good idea. Each person contributes 500 yuan, so with nine people, it’s 4,500 yuan. 2,000 yuan can be used to hire someone to cook, and the remaining 2,500 yuan for food."
"I don’t think that’s going to work. The food won’t be good enough. I suggest we each contribute 700 yuan instead. That way, there will be 6,300 yuan in total. 2,000 yuan can be used to hire a cook, and the remaining 4,000 yuan for food," suggested Nellie White.
Soon, everyone reached an agreement.
Listening to their discussions, Peter couldn’t help but think that these girls seemed to have plenty of money.
Sophia Jackson said, "Alright, now that we have settled that, let’s decide who will cook. My suggestion is to choose among the nine of us first. If no one can do it, then we search elsewhere. What do you all think?"
No one objected.
Peter sat there listening to their discussions, surprised that none of the eight girls were willing to cook at home. Even those who knew how to cook couldn’t find time to cook due to work commitments.
Echo Bennett looked towards Peter and asked, "So handsome, we didn’t ask you yet, what do you do for a living?"
"I’m a migrant worker looking for a job."
When Nellie heard that Peter was looking for work, she asked, "Did you find a job yet?"
"I have a low level of education, so I haven’t found a job."
At that, Rosemary asked, "Do you know how to cook?"
Peter nodded, "That’s not a problem." Indeed, Peter knew how to cook, he often cooked for himself, and his ring contained various ingredients that would make any meal taste great.
With Peter’s affirmation, the girls seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. Sophia clapped her hands and said, "Ladies, since we’re all living in the same house, let’s have a feast tonight. We’ll have Felix cook for us, and consider it a job audition. What do you say?"
The girls all agreed excitedly.
It was evident that they were delighted to have found a cook so quickly.
Peter looked at them in shock, wondering if this was to be his first job.
