Chapter 2083: Chapter 2081: The Competition
After a while, Peter Brown finally recovered.
"You actually entered the Origin Induction Layer!" Jordan Brown still harbored an unresolvable feeling.
Peter, however, was now feeling a great power within his body that he had never experienced before.
"I was originally worried you wouldn’t be able to beat Alden Martin, but now it seems that the gap between you two has narrowed. However, although both of you are at the Origin Induction Layer, Alden Martin can mobilize the energy of Three thousand and nine Hundred Stars, while you can only harness the energy of a bit more than a thousand stars. The gap is still substantial. Even though you have entered this level earlier and have some bonuses, the energy you can harness is only about One Thousand and Five Hundred Stars. There is still a significant difference. Thankfully, this time the competition is about who can kill a member of the Demon Clan and return with a Demon Core first; there is still a chance for you," Jordan Brown explained.
Peter asked: "Is there a possibility of cheating?"
"The entire killing process must be recorded with a special instrument, you can rest assured about this, the Northern Semi-Saint won’t cheat over this matter." Jordan Brown assured him.
Peter scoffed inwardly; he didn’t believe these assurances at all. For him, it was time to plan how to kill a member of the Demon Clan.
Of course, Peter knew he was of grassroots origin and there were many areas where he did not have an advantage; Alden Martin had a significant chance of success, but he had no choice but to compete.
"To show fairness this time, you need to cross through the rift and venture at least Fifty Million Miles deep into the Demon Clan’s territory before you can start your hunt," Jordan Brown stated the requirement.
What a demanding requirement! Peter breathed a sigh of relief. If it were just Ten Million Miles, he could teleport there, but with Fifty Million Miles, teleportation wouldn’t be so easy.
"Remember, there is one more thing you need to pay attention to. The energy in the Demon Clan’s territory is entirely different from ours, and you will not be able to use our type of energy there. You need to prepare some energy before you enter, otherwise, I’m afraid you would become weak due to lack of energy after not traveling far," Jordan Brown mentioned.
"Can’t use the Teleportation Talisman?" Peter asked briefly.
Jordan Brown smiled and shook his head: "Of course not, the Teleportation Talisman only works with the energy from our world. The activation and all require our type of energy. Naturally, it won’t work there. Otherwise, with the means of a Quasi Saint, one could refine a Teleportation Talisman that could instantly teleport back with a bit of Divine Sense, and the competition would lose its meaning."
A joy arose in Peter’s heart. What didn’t work for others could probably work for him. With such a huge Demon Star in his Elixir Sea, that was a completely different type of energy. There shouldn’t be a problem with supplying the needed power.
"After you arrive in the Demon Clan’s territory, your options won’t be too numerous. You can only use the Extreme Fire Divine Thunder refined by Quasi Saints. Remember, both of you only have Three each, and only the adult members of the Demon Clan have Demon Cores, so you cannot afford to waste them," Jordan educated.
During their talk, Jordan handed three Extreme Fire Divine Thunder to Peter.
Upon receiving them, Peter discovered that they were the same kind he had auctioned off before, only this time they seemed to be of a much higher grade.
"What kind of Demon Clan member can these highest kill?"
"They can eliminate anything below the rank of a Void Saint. Be warned, if you encounter a Demon Clan member above the rank of Void Saint, you have no other option but to run. Of course, if that happens, it also means your luck has run out," Jordan Brown said gravely.
With a sigh, Jordan Brown continued, "Don’t blame the unfairness of this situation. Alden Martin likely has many more powerful items given by the Quasi Saint, and his chances of success are far higher than yours. There’s only so much a Quasi Saint can do; everything else is up to you."
"Many thanks to the Quasi Saint," Peter said with gratitude in his heart.
"Alright, I’ve said everything I needed to. You’ve chosen to go, so prepare yourself. After a day, you and Alden Martin will enter simultaneously."
After Jordan Brown left, Peter sat cross-legged and deliberated the entire matter once again.
It was clear that the Quasi Saint wanted to cause some trouble for a Quasi Saint from the Northern Region. The two had some discord, but this was an opportunity for Peter, and he had to take it no matter what. The Quasi Saint probably guessed his intentions could offer only three Divine Artifacts capable of killing the Demon Clan to aid him, likely thinking he didn’t stand much chance.
This matter required serious consideration.
With that in mind, Peter headed towards the Trading Market.
Upon arriving at the Trading Market, Peter made his way towards the section with offensive Divine Artifacts.
Last time he gathered certain items, but this time he had to venture deeper into the Demon Clan’s territory with too many unknowns. He didn’t know what the place would be like, so it was best to acquire powerful Divine Artifacts.
Seeing Peter arrive, the auction firm’s shopkeeper beamed with a smile: "Peter, I heard you’re going into the Demon Clan territory. You must be here to buy some self-defense items, right?"
Peter looked at the shopkeeper, surprised that he knew about his situation so quickly. This indicated that behind him, there must be someone from the high ranks of the military.
"Yes, I have no choice. I have to do it, just not sure what kind of treasures you have here," Peter admitted.
"Don’t worry, I’ve already prepared things for you," the shopkeeper guaranteed.
Leading Peter inside, the shopkeeper first presented a Jade Slip: "This is a little gift for you. It’s a map drawn after entering the Demon Clan’s territory, which may still be of some use."
Indeed, it was a useful thing!
Peter quickly examined it and then nodded: "Much appreciated."
The shopkeeper smiled: "Given your current level of cultivation, any defense would be useless if you were trapped amidst a crowd of the Demon Clan; you would have only death ahead of you. Setting up a formation would be pointless without reinforcements, and you would end up dead. Recovery elixirs to upgrade cultivation won’t help either, due to the vast gap between you, and various Divine Artifacts and Talismans are useless too, as in their world of Demonic Energy, our items will fail. Unless you are above the rank of Void Saint, where you’ve cultivated an Elixir Sea with continuous energy from our world, giving you the ability to fight. So, for you, what you need are items that offer concealment and powerful offensive capabilities."
Peter agreed: "Well said, those are precisely the items I need."
"This is a False Demon Device that can disguise you, mimicking the appearance and aura of the Demon Clan, powered by Demon Cores, though it consumes a great deal of energy. With this device, you could even enter the Demon Clan’s city. Just remember to replace the Demon Core in time, or once you’re exposed, there will be only death for you."
"And this, more Extreme Fire Divine Thunder. I believe you have some yourself, but having extra could always be beneficial, right?"
Peter thought for a moment and decided to purchase both items, spending a considerable amount of faith energy.
