Chapter 2061: Chapter 2059: The Method of Collecting Faith
The two talked about their hometowns and immediately hit it off.
"Have you always been living here?" Peter Brown asked.
"After I left the Starlight Domain, I was still young, always wanting to make something of myself. It occurred to me that if the Starlight Domain was better than other places, then even more distant places must be good too. And so, I left the Starlight Domain."
As he said this, it seemed as though he was reminiscing, his gaze drifting towards the Azure Sky.
After a while, Mason Coleman sipped some tea and said, "Ah, young people never think about returning home. They always want to see the outside world. Through repeated teleports, I never stayed long in one place before swiftly moving on with the teleportation formation. One time, I accidentally came upon a battle and was forced to join the Army. That military teleport took me far away; I was directly teleported to a place I couldn’t understand. Since then, I’ve never found the way back home, and after teleporting to so many places over thousands of years, I’ve ended up here unconsciously."
Peter Brown was quite astonished. This old man had really been to a lot of places.
"Seeing so many different landscapes along the way, your life has been quite rich and colorful," Peter commented.
Mason Coleman gave a bitter smile and said, "I’ve always been looking for the way back, but even after Collecting too many maps, I still haven’t found the Merchant Path that leads to the Starlight Domain."
"Do you mean that only the Army’s Teleportation Array can reach it?" Peter Brown understood what he meant.
The old man nodded slightly and said, "Yes, the distance from our Starlight Domain to here is extremely vast. Only Saints or those at the Quasi-Saint Level might be able to arrive instantaneously. Ordinary people simply cannot make it. The Merchant Path is the road everyone takes, but the military teleports are laid out by Saints or Quasi-Saints. Ordinary people can’t do that."
Peter Brown said, "There must be such a path; it’s just that we haven’t found it yet. I guess it’s just farther away."
This time, Mason Coleman did not argue and sipped some tea, saying, "It’s also good to be here. If I endure a bit longer with my cultivation, I estimate I could reach the 1000 Star Level. Once I’m there, I’ll qualify to join the military. With a bit of military merit, it could be possible to find a way to return."
Peter Brown knew that Mason Coleman had no idea about the current state of the military and could only bitterly smile inwardly. How could Mason Coleman know that in the military, only a few people were holding up the Starlight Domain, and it might not even have a flag-bearer after a few more battles?
Of course, Peter Brown didn’t want to dampen his enthusiasm. After all, he was eager to upgrade. If he told him the actual situation, firstly, it would be difficult to explain, and secondly, it would demotivate him.
"By the way, Master, I see that although it’s lively here, there are all sorts of Personnel. In such a situation, there are also various temples in the city. Can there be so many believers just because there are many temples?" The question Peter Brown wanted to ask the most was about this, so he brought it up.
Hearing Peter Brown’s inquiry, Mason Coleman was brought back to the present and chuckled, "You’re not familiar with the situation here. These temples typically have only a few caretakers and are usually closed."
Peter Brown was completely puzzled and asked, "If there are no believers, then what’s the purpose of building temples?"
Mason Coleman looked at Peter Brown and said, "They are Collecting belief energy. You may not know, but after the barrier appeared, the belief energy that was meant to enter someone’s body got blocked here, and the energies from both sides can’t pass through. So, the belief energy gathers in front of the barrier. If no one Collects it, it will dissipate after a while. Some people noticed this and built temples to Collect this belief energy."
Peter Brown was still somewhat unclear and asked, "Belief energy is hard to see and is very mixed, with all kinds of beliefs. How does it automatically enter a particular temple?"
Mason Coleman explained patiently, "You’re unaware, but Families have their ways. If you observe the temples, you’ll realize that each one venerates regional gods. For example, I’m from the Starlight Domain, so in a shrine, only the Saint of Dao Source from the Starlight Domain is worshipped. Any belief coming from the Starlight Domain, with no other storage, will naturally be drawn towards a similar sacred place when it’s about to dissipate and will naturally be Collected by that temple."
Is there such a thing?
Peter Brown felt enlightened, not having imagined such a method existed. If this were true, then it might indeed be possible to Collect belief energy.
"So indeed, there’s no need for any believers. These temples are built in such places, a regional deity is worshipped, and naturally, that region’s belief, when finding no person to enter, will head towards the temple. It’s very easy to Collect," Mason Coleman continued.
"Is there a powerful figure overseeing this?"
"Of course, this belief energy is too valuable militarily, it is quite profitable. Just take it to the military, and there’s money to be made. Powers from all sides will establish a force here, and there is an agreement on this matter among them. No one is allowed to build other similar temples; it’s their exclusive business."
Peter Brown was a bit troubled by this. Stealing the belief energy here was on his mind, but considering the presence of powerful figures, he felt uneasy, wondering if he could pull off the theft without being detected.
"With such profits from collecting belief energy, hasn’t anyone tried to steal it?" Peter Brown asked once more.
Mason Coleman said, "Actually, their main defense is the formation. With a formation in place, hardly anyone can break through it. Some have indeed attempted to steal, but ended up trapped in the formation. Those formation masters wouldn’t do such a thing either, and there are always people with several thousand Star Ranks guarding it, so it’s quite secure."
So that’s how it is!
Peter Brown finally understood why there were so many temples here.
It was time to study the situation here thoroughly. With so much belief energy, if he didn’t manage to get his hands on it, he would truly be doing himself a disservice.
After chatting with Mason Coleman a while longer, Coleman told him where he lived and then took his leave.
Peter Brown thought it over and decided to buy a house here first to prepare
