Chapter 1960: Chapter 1958: Choice

"So brutal!"

Seeing the remains scattered all over the ground, Moira Johnson’s eyes widened; she truly hadn’t anticipated such a scene.

Previously, times had been more peaceful for everyone, and with the presence of the Daughters of Heaven in the Sect, others would have taken care of any issues beforehand—frankly, they had rarely seen blood.

Now, seeing those remains scattered all over, she felt nauseous on the spot.

"This is one of our Faction’s disciples!"

Gabriella Graham saw a torn piece of clothing, and then the conditions of the bones, and commented.

Peter Brown, however, was used to everything and didn’t think much about these things.

"White Wolf, coordinate with the Puppet to scout ahead."

With so many fierce beasts around, Peter Brown hoped to avoid encountering them if possible.

Having agreed, White Wolf and the Puppet dashed forward.

"Master, how could this happen?"

Moira Johnson was really unaccustomed to the changes here.

Peter Brown looked at the three women and said, "If you want to go further on this Cultivation path, you must adapt. You probably grew up in a greenhouse, totally unaware of the external world’s conditions. With your characters, if you encountered dangerous situations alone, you would hardly manage. From now on, you need to learn to deal with things independently."

Peter spoke and then walked ahead.

Now, Peter was also an expert of one hundred and eight Star Ranks, and he walked confidently, believing that no one could kill him instantly in such a place.

"Look quickly, there are many corpses over there."

When everyone walked over, they saw corpses with only parts like heads remaining.

"This is Senior Lewis!"

Moira Johnson saw a head lying there.

"Let’s go, there probably aren’t many people alive here."

Gabriella Graham sighed and pulled Moira Johnson along.

"Master, there’s a large group of fierce beasts attacking humans ahead."

White Wolf ran back swiftly.

Peter thought for a moment, then gave each person an Invisibility Talisman and said, "Let’s go take a look."

They cautiously proceeded forward.

Soon, they arrived at a valley. Glancing inside, they saw a group of people defending it while a large number of fierce beasts roared outside.

Looking again, a fierce beast had just flipped an expert, and then a large number of fierce beasts rushed into the valley.

"People from the Heavenly Domain Gate!"

"And the Beast Sect!"

On looking, they saw hundreds of people gathered here, these Sect’s disciples were completely engaged in battle with the fierce beasts.

Unfortunately, there were too many fierce beasts of one hundred and eight Star Ranks; in just a brief encounter, many of the Human Species’ disciples had fallen.

"Master, what should we do?" Moira Johnson looked at Peter Brown, clearly inclined to help.

Alice Thompson glanced at her and said, "Do you have a way to rescue them?"

"But, they are humans too!"

Alice retorted, "What grounds do you have to save them; do you have the strength?"

Moira then looked at Peter Brown and asked, "Master?"

Peter shook his head and said, "Alice is right, on what grounds should we save them? Since they have embarked on the Saint Competition, they must be prepared for death. We have no relation with them; everyone must follow their own path."

Moira’s face showed deep sorrow as she said, "Just watching them die!"

Gabriella Graham said, "Don’t say we don’t have the capability; even if we did, we shouldn’t be lenient. Let’s go."

Peter shook his head; now, even if they wanted to save them, it was not possible; there were hardly any survivors alive.

Turning around, Peter strode away.

Everyone followed along with Peter.

Moira stood there for a long time, hesitating.

"Master, about Moira..."

Peter said, "Everyone has their own thoughts. Maintaining one’s conscience is good, but one must act according to their capabilities. Only through experiencing many failures and setbacks will one find their own path. Let her be."

Fortunately, after a while, Moira caught up.

Her mood remained poor along the way.

Peter didn’t pay her any mind; on this forward path, without a determined, cold heart, it’s unworkable. Moira was at this critical turning point. No one could help her. If she impulsively acted alone, it would be a path to death, and Peter wasn’t going to risk everyone for that.

"Master, the fierce beasts are desperate now!"

"It’s because we took their Dragon Attracting Fruit."

Moira just said that.

Peter simply laughed and said, "That may be true, but think about this: what everyone here wants. They are seeking opportunities. If they hadn’t come here, they wouldn’t be in any danger. When opportunity presents itself to everyone, if you don’t seize it, someone else will. Taking an opportunity will cause connected reactions. If they are killed by fierce beasts, that’s their affair. Don’t be oversensitive and take everything upon yourself. If that’s the case, you might as well go home and continue being your lady. Then, there wouldn’t be any competition at all. Jade Blackwood, let me tell you, don’t bring those old thoughts here; otherwise, I can set you free, and you can live your own life."

Peter was very serious now, seeing her condition, he was really not pleased.

Gabriella Graham then seriously said, "Master is right, Moira, this path is full of deadly threats. If you are not prepared, only you will die."

Then, Peter opened his mouth, and the souls of several people were expelled by him to the three women: "These are your souls. If you want to break off from me, gain your freedom, you can collect them. Once you collect them, you and I will have no relations. Honestly, it’s mostly been me taking advantage, having taken over your bodies."

Seeing their own souls floating in the air and then looking at Peter, the three women were somewhat dazed, not expecting Peter to actually release their souls, indicating he was letting them go.

Thinking of freedom, all three women hesitated at once.

Moira looked at Peter, and then at the soul, and asked, "Truly setting me free?"

"That’s right, I, Peter Brown, keep my word. If you’re willing, take back your soul and leave. We owe nothing to each other. Honestly speaking, it’s me who has taken advantage of you, having taken over your bodies."

"I choose to leave!"

Moira collected her soul and then cast one last look at Peter before leaving.

Watching Moira walk away, Peter sighed inwardly; this woman had her own convictions but, unfortunately, it was a waste.

Seeing that Moira had disappeared, and Peter did nothing, Alice Thompson also collected her soul and said, "I still want to live, I must leave this place," then, with a swift motion, she quickly departed in another direction.
