Chapter 1870: Chapter 1868: Quite a Few People Have Come
When he returned to Kingston House from the Imperial Palace, Peter Brown found the entrance crowded with Beast-drawn Carriages and bustling with activity.
"Greetings, Prince_Wang."
As Prince Harvey was also a prince, upon his return to King’s City, it was only natural that he was addressed as such by others.
As Peter Brown looked toward those gathered, he saw many officials, most of whom he barely recognized.
"Greetings, Your Highness."
Peter Brown noticed that Sam Collins was also standing there.
"Everyone, rise."
As everyone entered, Peter Brown did not go to meet the arrivals; instead, he wished to understand more about the situation in King’s City.
After sitting down, Peter Brown glanced at Sam Collins and Jett Johnson, and couldn’t help but sigh internally that it hadn’t been easy for Prince Harvey to get to this point, with only two useful subordinates left at his disposal.
Once everyone was seated, Peter Brown asked, "What’s happening outside?"
Jett Johnson glanced at Sam Collins and said, "Word of Your Highness’s affairs has spread, and everyone has come. Among them are some who wish to side with Your Highness."
At this moment, Sam Collins kept looking at Peter Brown, truly taken aback by the drastic changes in Prince Harvey. After returning home, Sam Collins gathered some of his trusted followers and quickly grasped the full situation. The more he learned, the more he was astonished by the sheer volume of events that had taken place; it was as if Prince Harvey had become a different person.
Beforehand, Sam Collins had some concerns, fearing that someone might be impersonating Prince Harvey, but after Peter Brown’s successful return from the Imperial Palace, and especially after bringing the girl Amelia Taylor back, Sam Collins no longer harbored any doubts. In the Imperial Palace, especially Prince Harvey’s mother, was no ordinary person and had certainly verified his true identity beyond doubt.
Upon confirming that Prince Harvey was indeed genuine, Sam Collins felt exhilarated. Previously, he had thought that following Prince Harvey would lead to a dead end, but now he saw a promising future ahead.
With this change in outlook, Sam Collins started to consider the struggle for the throne on behalf of Prince Harvey.
"Your Highness, in my opinion, the present situation presents an opportunity for Your Highness. Regardless of their usefulness, as long as people are willing to join us, we should welcome them. Creating an atmosphere in King’s City is beneficial for Your Highness," Sam Collins said.
Jett Johnson added, "While recruiting people is indeed advantageous for Your Highness, some of them are not very powerful, and there are all sorts from various backgrounds. Some, as my subordinates are aware, have significant blemishes, and there’s a general reluctance to recruit them. I’m concerned that accepting them may impact Your Highness’s reputation."
Sam Collins could not deny this issue and stood there deep in thought.
Seeing their expressions, Peter Brown confidently stated, "I do have a bottom line when it comes to employing people: those with blemishes cannot be selected!"
"Your Highness," Sam Collins began to speak again when Peter Brown gestured with his hand and said, "I know what you want to say. It’s nothing more than the fact that I’m now short of hands. With some people in place, our power would appear greater."
"Your Highness, I believe that’s exactly the case," replied Sam Collins.
Peter Brown shook his head, replying, "No, you’re wrong. I am not without people. I still have a group of subordinates in Wavehider City. Although not many of them are civil officials, I believe that what truly matters in the Land of the Divine Realm is actual strength. With strength, nothing else is a problem. Those of value who cannot serve me, even if desired, cannot be won over, and what good are many of little value but to cause disturbance? Moving forward, our approach must still be to prefer scarcity over mediocrity!"
A formidable confidence radiated from Peter Brown, and Sam Collins had never seen Prince Harvey exude such great power before.
At that moment, Xander Army and Philips Williams walked in.
Looking at Xander Army, Sam Collins was astonished. He knew very well that this man, who held real power in King’s City, was only loyal to the late emperor and didn’t serve under anyone; now, however, he found him standing respectfully before Prince Harvey.
"Xander Army, continue to control your forces. I am giving you a Talisman capable of killing a fifty-star ranked individual. If anyone disobeys, eliminate them on the spot!"
Capable of killing a fifty-star rank?
Although Sam Collins had some understanding of Prince Harvey’s situation, he had no idea of the extent of Harvey’s power until he heard this. This revelation deepened his respect for Prince Harvey and fueled his enthusiasm. With Prince Harvey possessing such formidable strength, as long as the Sects did not interfere, Prince Harvey had the power to fight back, which was greatly advantageous for the struggle for the throne.
As Peter Brown watched Xander Army leave, his gaze shifted to Philips Williams and asked, "How many men do the eunuchs have now?"
"Your Highness, we brought a hundred, and there are now over two hundred here in Kingston House, which is sufficient to form an army," Philips Williams answered.
"Manage this matter yourself. I don’t expect you to be very strong; defending Kingston House is enough. By the way, have the experts sent by Xandros Walker arrived yet?"
"They are almost here; all those mobilized this time are Seven Stars experts."
Peter Brown nodded slightly and said, "In King’s City, it’s not quite suitable for army combat. The forces of the Eunuch Army and Xander Army’s forces can be put to use. We are not without power."
It was then that Sam Collins realized Prince Harvey truly had his own strength and was not powerless as he had previously thought.
"Your Highness, since there is power at our disposal, there’s no need to overly concern ourselves with those who have pledged allegiance. We can select those who are useful," Sam Collins advised.
Peter Brown responded, "That matter will be handled by you and Jett Johnson together. What I need is complete control over King’s City’s information."
Both men, filled with confidence, bowed respectfully and left.
Peter Brown watched them depart and finally had the time to sit and ponder his next moves.
Upon entering King’s City, Peter Brown realized there was much to be done. The Sects posed a key challenge. Although it was said that the Sects would not interfere, Peter Brown knew in his heart that when the critical moment came, the Sects could still potentially meddle. If the Sects sent masters to assassinate him, would he be able to withstand them?
Shaking his head, Peter Brown knew that if it indeed came to that, he would have no power to resist. The gap between star ranks was clear, and the difference between Peter Brown and the masters was not a matter of degree but of kind. On this matter, he still needed to have contingencies in place.
