Chapter 1832: Chapter 1830: There are also risks in farming

After Brian Hughes left, Peter Brown sat cross-legged and thoroughly reconsidered the entire situation once more. After his reflections, Peter had to admit that no matter what, he had to follow Brian Hughes’s lead. He had his own pursuits, and Peter was no different in having his own.

Peter took this matter very seriously; the opponents they faced this time were no ordinary individuals. They were all experts with twenty stars’ worth of power, and currently, Peter was incapable of confronting them directly. Therefore, he had to take the matter of preserving his own life seriously.

Peter had always placed great value on his life, understanding that without life, one has nothing. Thus, the first thing he had to ensure before taking any action was his own survival.

After pondering for a while, Peter realized that one method of survival available to him now was formations.

After all, they were all members of the same sect. Openly committing murder was unthinkable, even for those few competitors of Brian Hughes who held the power of twenty stars, as well as for those with less than twenty stars. They dared not break the rules. Therefore, what Peter needed to do was to focus on this particular matter.

Having established a direction, Peter examined the land in front of him once again and some ideas emerged in his mind.

The use of formations was no longer an issue for Peter; it was merely another layer of energy protection. With his current five-star power level, he believed that the Life Energy he possessed was sufficient to accomplish some tasks.

Thinking about the formation’s specifics, Peter recognized that these were formations of the Mortal Realm. Against adversaries who possessed star power, Mortal Realm formations could easily be shattered by their formidable star power. Thus, he could not employ a brute force approach. Moreover, he did not dare inflict real harm on them. It was enough to just stall them for a while.

With this thought, Peter found that the formation he needed to create seemed somewhat simpler to execute.

Firstly, he would lay out a maze array, then a guidance formation. If these two types of formations worked together, when individuals became trapped within them and attempted to attack the formation with their powerful energy, the guidance formation would redirect their energy toward the Horizon Sky. Thus, no matter how much force they used in their assault, that energy would simply dissipate into the air.

Indeed, he could also redirect their energy to attack themselves while simultaneously powering the formation.

The more he thought about it, the more feasible his solution seemed.

Looking over the field land again, Peter noticed another problem arising. He would have to keep expanding the land continuously. A static formation might not suffice since the more land he opened up, the more he would have to change the established formations, which was obviously not ideal.

Since Brian Hughes needed him for this task, it would be necessary to involve him. After all, Peter would have to discuss the formation matters with him.

With that thought in mind, Peter got up and went to find Brian Hughes.

Seeing Peter coming to him, Brian Hughes asked in confusion, "What’s the matter now? Is there another issue?"

"Steward, there’s something I need to consult you about."

"Speak."

"Steward, if I can lay out a formation and trap individuals with stars, there won’t be any problems within the sect, right?"

"What?"

Brian Hughes looked at Peter in surprise. Within the sect, individuals knowledgeable in formations were extremely rare, and here was a Chore Disciple claiming he knew formations and could trap individuals of twenty stars with them.

Peter, undisturbed by the other’s reaction, explained his understanding of formations to Brian Hughes.

The more Brian Hughes listened, the wider his eyes widened as he asked, "Where exactly did you learn formations from?"

Peter replied, "I’m not sure if it’ll work, but I learned from a teacher. After he taught me, he left and said we’d meet again if fate allowed."

Brian Hughes simply nodded his head slightly. In the Divine Realm anything could happen, and he didn’t doubt Peter’s story, understanding that formations were not something anyone could easily learn.

Quickly becoming excited, Brian Hughes said, "The sect is in great need of formation masters. Once you help me with this, I will recommend you, and with your skills in formations, becoming an official disciple won’t be much of a problem."

Peter was pleased to hear this—this was exactly the attitude he wanted. He said, "I’m worried they might come to destroy our crops here, so I’ll set up a grand formation to protect the areas I’m farming. If they do come and get trapped, what should we do?"

Brian Hughes laughed heartily and replied, "The sect has its rules. No one is to interfere with one another. If anyone comes, killing them is not a sin. Besides, if we were to kill someone and only you and I knew, who else would come to know of it?"

Understood—Brian Hughes was a man capable of killing!

"Do you need any help from me?"

Brian Hughes was perceptive. Seeing the potential that Peter’s knowledge of formations offered, his eyes shone with hope. He had been uncertain about securing the rewards previously, but now he realized he had underestimated Peter. The boy knew too much and could indeed be relied upon to advance their cause in the future.

Peter had sought him out, so he must want something.

"Steward, do you happen to have some top-quality divine stones? I’ll need plenty for the formations."

Upon hearing about divine stones, Brian Hughes breathed a sigh of relief and laughed, saying, "If it’s just top-quality divine stones, then that is much easier. I have some in my possession. You should know, while divine stones are beneficial for cultivation, they only really benefit those with lower cultivation levels. For those above ten stars, divine stones don’t help much. I’ve saved up quite a few as I was planning to purchase a defensive artifact with them, but now I can give you some. As long as we secure first place, the rewards will naturally be there."

After receiving the divine stones provided by Brian Hughes, Peter departed.

Both knew, at this point, that Cooperation was the win-win solution for them.

To ensure Peter could open up a sufficiently large area of land, Brian Hughes exercised his authority and directly allocated one hundred acres to Peter for his expansion.

With one hundred acres at his disposal, Brian Hughes believed victory was assured.

Upon seeing the marked one hundred acres, Peter made his decision. He would set up formations around this expanse of land. Since only he and Brian Hughes would be around, anyone else would be considered an enemy and naturally would be subjected to attack.

Inscribing divine stones was no longer a difficult task for Peter. His five-star Life Energy continuously flowed into each inscribed stone, which Peter then buried all around.
