Chapter 183: Chapter 183: Finally Cured the Disease
Peter Brown had agreed, and Maggie Parker’s face burst into a broader smile. She suddenly radiated warmth and cheerfulness, and she said to Peter, "Mr. Brown, I, Maggie Parker, won’t forget your kindness. As long as you rescue my mother and send her back to Hua Nation, I’ll do whatever you ask!"
Peter chuckled, "Anything I ask of you?"
Maggie hesitated for a moment, then gritted her teeth and said, "Yes, anything!"
Then Peter laughed and said, "Alright, I don’t speak Arabic, you can teach me."
"Just this?" Maggie was stunned. She hadn’t expected that Peter would just want to learn Arabic, and she looked at him incredulously.
"What did you think I was going to ask ?"
Maggie blushed, realizing she had got it all wrong - Peter wasn’t the man she thought he was.
Now that Peter had rejected her advances, this left her feeling disappointed, even slightly angry. Here she was, a beautiful woman, and he requested her to teach!
Maggie put on a forced smile and said, "Of course. I’ll get the materials and start teaching right away."
As she turned to leave, a pleased smile curled up at the corners of her mouth. She found Peter quite impressive, precisely the kind of reliable man her mother had told her to find. From now on, she decided, she would stick with him!
Watching Maggie’s hips sway as she walked away, Peter felt a tinge of regret. He could tell she would have welcomed his advances. She was a woman of mixed heritage and astonishing beauty!
Shaking his head, Peter decided to suppress his impulses. After all, he was a representative of his nation abroad and needed to maintain his image.
Sitting cross-legged, he started watching some English channels on TV. The good thing was that he had learned a fair amount of English and could now broadly follow conversations on TV.
When Maurren Smith walked in, she looked around, and asked, "Where is your little beauty?"
"Didn’t you notice the handsome guy sitting here?" Peter joked with Maurren.
Maurren walked over and sat down, commenting, "Well indeed, everywhere you are, beautiful women seem to be around."
"Sister Smith, when are you teaching me foreign languages?"
"Alright, let’s start with the basics." Maurren agreed and got ready to start the lesson.
"Let’s do this differently, a lot of people speak French in the Middle East, so why don’t we try French?"
Maurren was left speechless, "Do you want to learn English or French?"
"French!"
Having grasped English well and with Maggie guiding him in Arabic, Peter decided to pick up yet another language - French.
"I didn’t bring any French teaching materials. I only have English."
Maurren was surprised Peter wanted to learn French.
I have them, I have them."
Peter went back to his room and came back with a set of French textbooks he had bought back in his home country.
Seeing that Peter was serious, Maurren asked in surprise, "You really want to learn?"
"Of course, with a beautiful teacher guiding me, why wouldn’t I?"
Maurren was indeed a qualified teacher, and she started teaching right away.
Peter took the lessons sincerely, and started learning from the basics.
As they were studying, Adonis Harrison and his crew walked in. Upon seeing the two of them studying, Adonis said, "Alright, Prince Carter sent a message saying he’s ready to treat the illness. Let’s go."
After everyone left the house, they saw a group of soldiers waiting outside, along with Maggie.
When Peter glanced at Maggie, he noticed that she was now in full military uniform, complete with weaponry.
Maggie, who usually appeared so fragile, had now transformed into the embodiment of military vigor.
"Not here?" Peter asked.
Adonis said, "It’s a bit far from here, the barracks."
Then he added, "I have the feeling this is unusual, we should be careful on the road."
"You think there could be a problem?"
Peter became a bit alert.
"Not clear at this point, but better safe than sorry."
Once everyone got in the vehicle, Maggie herself was in the same vehicle as Peter.
Interestingly, as soon as Maggie got in, Maurren came and sat on the other side, leaving Peter squeezed in between.
"So many vehicles!" Peter exclaimed, feeling squeezed by the two beauties.
"We’re your bodyguards, of course we need to sit with you. Also, I have to translate, so don’t interrupt my work," Maurren commanded.
Maggie said, "My duty is to stay with you, to protect you."
Fine!
Peter didn’t want to argue, and he wasn’t even sure who was protecting whom.
As they left, they saw many soldiers outside, and the group set off outside the camp.
"Maggie, has your prince ever been here?" Peter asked.
"Sir, the prince and his people have never been in this camp. The higher-ups are cautious, and we’re not clear about where the prince actually resides.", Maggie explained, since Peter had made a promise she felt she could trust him.
So, the camp was a decoy. There were not many people stationed here, and even if an ambush happened, it wouldn’t be a big deal. The true leaders were not here!
Peter understood the situation now.
"How far do you think it’ll be?" Peter asked again.
"I’m not sure, but the Higher-Ups told us to be prepared for a long journey, so I assume it won’t be close."
Maurren said, "Not sure what might happen on the road."
As she spoke, she glanced at Peter. She knew about the assassination attempt on him.
The car initially sped along the paved roads, then entered a long stretch of rough road. The car jerked violently, while Peter, being well-trained, didn’t topple over, the two beauties with lesser training kept bumping into him.
After being knocked around a few times, Maggie decided to keep it simple and tightly held Peter’s arm, claiming, "This way it’s steadier."
Maurren scoffed, grabbed Peter’s other arm, and said, "Lucky you."
Feeling the soft touch from both sides, Peter shook his head, wondering who exactly was the lucky one here!
