Chapter 1752: Chapter 1750: Plenty of Experience

Larry Wilson was quite amiable and quickly hit it off with Peter Brown; they chatted about many things, and Peter learned some details about Larry’s life. Larry was the scion of a wealthy family and had received considerable resources growing up, facilitating his rapid ascent in power levels. By the age of fifteen, he had already reached the Warrior Level. However, his family fell into decline, and after being repeatedly set up and persecuted, his young master’s temperament led to several downgrades, causing him to fall back to the Warrior Level time and again.

"Brother Larry, how exactly do you upgrade?" Peter still found some parts of the process very confusing.

"Actually, for those below the Martial Master Level, upgrading isn’t too difficult. As long as you meet three conditions, you can upgrade. It gets more complicated above the Martial Master Level, and I’m not too clear on that."

"Can you just tell me about the conditions for upgrading below the Martial Master Level?" What Peter was most eager to find out was how to advance from Warrior to Martial Artist.

Larry Wilson glanced at Peter and said, "What you really want to know is how to upgrade from Warrior to Martial Artist, right?"

Peter nodded and replied, "If we don’t upgrade, we’re as good as dead."

Smiling, Larry explained, "Actually, if you have money, going from Warrior to Martial Artist really isn’t a big deal. Let me tell you, there are three conditions. First, you must cultivate. Only when the energy inside your body reaches the level needed for upgrading will you have completed the Cultivation aspect. You should have The Higher-Ups Stele for the Brain Domain by now. If you silently contemplate and check your upgrade conditions, that stele will display them."

Really?

Peter hurriedly did as instructed, and indeed, he saw some changes on the stele. There were three vertical scale-like bars on it, and at first glance, they were all empty.

"Do you see it? The three scale bars have appeared, right?"

"Yes, they’re all empty."

"Exactly. You haven’t started circulating your Cultivation Technique yet. What you need to do is to fill up the scale bar representing the Power you’ve cultivated. Let me tell you, here we talk about Dragon Power as the measure, and in your case, you need the Strength of Ten Dragons to fill it up. That’s one of the conditions. Once you’ve reached it, your Power will continue to rise, but without fulfilling the next condition, you won’t be able to upgrade."

"What are the other two scales?"

"We’re in the Sacred Battleground; it’s all about enemy killings here. You need to slay at least ten enemies to fill up that scale bar."

"Kill ten enemies?"

Seeing Peter’s shocked expression, Larry continued, "It can be hard or easy depending on the situation. If you have money, you can just buy the job of killing from the County Office. Killing ten Deadly Criminals will do."

"It can be done like that!"

"As long as the Honorable Magistrate has sentenced the criminals to death, you won’t get in trouble for doing the job. But now everyone knows this trick, so it’s the big shots who are making money off of it. Don’t even think about profiting from it. It costs ten thousand Crystal Coins to kill one criminal, and that’s not cheap."

Peter had come to understand a bit about the local prices; a single Crystal Coin was enough for a day’s worth of food, so ten thousand Crystal Coins were no small sum.

"It’s only during times of chaos that it becomes cheaper. In the peaceful era of the past, you wouldn’t even discuss it without starting at one hundred thousand. Now, for you and me, it’s only by bravely fighting that we can satisfy this condition."

"And the third scale?"

"That would be the Heavenly Reward. It’s really hard to say with that one; sometimes you might get awarded so much at once that you don’t even need all of it for the current upgrade, and it can be saved for the next one. Other times, no matter what you do, you just can’t get that reward."

Peter thought to himself that this really added some difficulty to the process.

"All right, the Dragon Power gained from hard Cultivation, can it be increased in any other way?"

"There are many ways, including absorbing crystal cores and Heavenly Treasures. Even when you kill an enemy, some of their energy will be absorbed by you. The stronger the enemy you kill, the more you gain."

When Peter heard that absorbing crystal cores could also aid in Cultivation, he was overjoyed. If that was the case, upgrading would become much easier for him.

"It seems that obtaining the third item is the difficult part." Peter mused.

Larry smiled, "It really boils down to fate. You’re a Soldier, and if you can contribute an idea on the battlefield, change the course of a battle, or come up with some invention, you’ll be rewarded for all of it. For a Soldier, it’s really not that difficult. Even if you just follow orders and achieve victory in a battle, you can satisfy this condition."

"Little brother, you’re new here, so get to your Cultivation. As for me, I’ve killed plenty of enemies; I’ve already satisfied that requirement, as well as Cultivation. The only thing I’m missing is the Heavenly Reward, and that’s out of my hands. I just have to wait. Sometimes, even a realization in a Cultivation Technique could bring about such a reward."

"You can get rewarded for a realization in Cultivation Techniques too?" By now, Peter was genuinely bewildered by this unique method of upgrading; it was completely different.

After some thought, Peter found a more secluded spot and sat down cross-legged.

The Blood Slaughter Energy was no mystery to Peter and not at all difficult. Now it was time to begin cycling his Cultivation Technique.

Since learning that crystal cores could enhance his power, Peter had held a crystal core in one hand while he sat and undertook his Cultivation.

Sure enough, with a crystal core in hand, the pace of his Cultivation noticeably accelerated.

Two hours later, Peter distinctly felt a surge of Great Power within him, and the scale bar that represented Power was increasing significantly.

The Strength of Ten Dragons?

Peter had no idea how vast the Strength of Ten Dragons actually was, but for now, his primary task was to fill up his own scale bar.

Aside from the two largest crystal cores he had to save for self-preservation, Peter spent the next few days relentlessly pushing his Cultivation Technique and merging crystal core after crystal core into his body.

Each day, Peter could feel himself growing stronger. He noticed that once the power from the crystal cores entered his body, it transformed into streams of energy quite different from True Qi or Immortal Spirit. It was a kind of power he had never encountered before, and Peter saw this power continuously accumulating, eventually forming a small dragon that started to gather below his navel.

One Dragon Power!

Needless to say, he now truly possessed the Power of One Dragon.

Looking at the crystal cores, Peter was also surprised to find that it took ten large ones just to form one dragon. For ten dragons, how many crystal cores would that require!
