Chapter 1732: Chapter 1730: The Response Conference

In the past few days, Peter Brown had not been idle, pondering ways to counter the impending peril. Having seen too much about the tenth dimension through the Virtual Cosmic Network, Peter was convinced that Earth as it stands could not withstand the onslaught of the Star Kingdom. Let alone the Star Kingdom, even an attack from some star bandits would suffice to destroy Earth. Therefore, he now must manufacture some powerful offensive starships.

Materials kept arriving incessantly, and Peter felt that the area he was in was starting to feel a bit too small.

What are starships?

They are massive constructs capable of engaging in battles in the starry sky. To produce such things here, one problem is the lack of materials, and another is the insufficiency of space—it’s hard to get the work done.

Does he have to establish a base outside Earth?

Peter hesitated at the thought, not expecting developments to take this turn.

When he checked the Network, Peter was speechless to find that everyone was thrilled about making contact with an alien civilization. Discussions abounded, and many believed that with the arrival of aliens, Earth’s development would accelerate, and the future of the human species would be brighter.

Yet, when those who were calm issued their warnings about the dangers, they were ignored by the masses.

The issue was indeed significant. The Virtual Cosmic Network was filled with related content. Would the star bandits, a most malevolent organization, come plundering upon learning of Earth’s existence?

It was a conclusion that Peter didn’t need to ponder long to reach. The star bandits may already be on a countdown to their arrival. At that time, to the bandits, Earth would be like completely defenseless humans possessing vast wealth.

Setting aside Earth’s resources, just selling the several billion Earthlings could bring the bandits immense fortune; it was the kind of thing that could provoke anyone’s greed.

As he was contemplating these matters, Peter received a call from Apollo Brown, the military officer responsible for establishing contact with Peter.

During the call, Apollo said, "Mr. Wang, you must be aware of the contact made with the alien civilization. The nation intends to hold a major conference, inviting domestic experts and professors in science and technological civilizations. Given your authority in this field, we would like to request your presence at the meeting in Kingston."

Peter, who was curious about the nation’s stance, asked, "Are national leaders going to be there?"

"Yes, they will."

"Then good, I’ll make my way to Kingston right away."

Apollo, pleased to hear the affirmation from Peter, a mysterious and influential figure, replied, "That’s wonderful. Your attendance will significantly elevate the status of the conference."

Peter was aware of his circumstances. Despite having never participated in any public events, his inventions had solidified his status as a serious player in the world. His presence alone would naturally add gravitas to this conference.

After the call, Peter pondered once more what he might need to do for the Earthlings.

"Salina, is it possible for the Virtual Cosmic Network to be viewed by the nations as well?"

Peter realized that the first step was to make everyone aware of the real situation in space. To achieve that, he would need to let them see the contents of the Virtual Cosmic Network.

"Master, that’s not an issue at all. The Virtual Cosmic Network is there; as long as Earth has the technology to connect, anyone is entitled to access. The problem is that with the current level of technology on Earth, no one apart from us even has the possibility to connect," replied Salina.

Sighing, Peter felt some regret for pushing Earth’s civilization too far ahead. He had managed to advance what might have taken hundreds of years within a much shorter period.

The problem of insufficient foundation had indeed become apparent. Unfortunately, Earthlings were unaware of such danger.

This time, Peter was quite low-profile, bringing no one with him to Kingston and flying there alone in his flying car.

To Peter, whether to bring people was not crucial. Nobody here truly had the capability to eliminate Peter; thanks to space technology, his ring held many powerful weapons. As for handling affairs, a mere thought would link him with Salina, enabling him to accomplish anything.

Upon arriving in Kingston, Peter was surprised to find that the city was still plagued by a heavy smog. Flying car technology remained a luxury of the wealthy, with ordinary people benefiting little from it.

Viewing this, Peter knew some of this project might need to be shared; otherwise, Earth’s development would be seriously hampered.

The meeting venue was evidently not within the city, but situated inside a barracks.

As Peter arrived, he saw not a few flying cars already parked there.

It seemed that the use of flying cars had become more widespread.

After Peter parked, a soldier promptly came to greet him.

Saluting Peter, the soldier asked, "Who are you?"

"Peter Brown."

"Ah!"

Clearly recognizing Peter, the soldier was puzzled by his solo visit but nevertheless told him, "Please, the Commander awaits inside."

As Peter looked around, he indeed felt he might have been too understated—others had arrived with a throng of bodyguards and secretaries, unlike him, who came alone.

Yet all this was trifling to Peter. Having been through so much, he simply overlooked these inconsequential things.

People, acquainted with each other, chattered and laughed as they walked inside.

Despite the stir he’d created, Peter’s reclusiveness meant few knew his face. He blended in naturally, and no one approached him for conversation.

Escorted by the soldier, Peter made his way further inside.

"Commander, this will be your room for the next few days. If you need anything, just let us know, and we will take care of it," the soldier said earnestly as they entered a well-appointed room.

"How is the meeting scheduled?" asked Peter.

"Commander, here is the schedule for the conference."

Peter looked over the schedule and furrowed his brows. The meeting still dwelled on the excitement of the aliens’ forthcoming arrival, focusing on discussions about the potential advancements Earth might experience.

After a moment’s thought, Peter knew that explaining the seriousness of the situation to them now would be futile. He simply nodded and said, "Alright, let it be." Peter was clear that these people could not be relied upon for the next steps in facing the aliens.
