Once inside the military camp, Peter Brown noted how extensive it was; it appeared to hold several tens of thousands of troops. They were settled in a building right in the center of the camp.

"You guys can rest up for now; matters are a bit complicated. We need to sort things out internally before dealing with the disease." Cabral apologetically approached him and his party.

"It’s okay. We’re free to move around in here, right?" Adonis Harrison asked a question.

"Of course, you’re all free to move within this designated area. You can even stroll on the streets, but things are not very peaceful here. It’s best to stay within the barracks."

After Cabral left, Adonis’s expression grew solemn and he summoned everyone, "The situation is a bit complicated. It seems there are issues within their own ranks as well."

Oscar Wilson chimed in, "Regardless, we’ve accomplished our mission related to securing military firepower. All we need to do now is protect Peter Brown and ensure his safety."

Peter seemed unperturbed. "Let’s take this as a rest period then. There isn’t much to do in the camp and there is no need for us to leave. The situation outside indeed is rather complicated."

Bowen Walter agreed, "Exactly, if assassins are after you, it’s best to stay put here."

After the group discussion, Peter Brown directly went into his quarters.

As for their arrival, the people from the eastern area were quite hospitable. Peter’s room was spacious and he was even appointed a beautiful waitress.

The most interesting part was that the beautiful woman could speak Chinese.

"Greetings Mr. Wang." Just as Peter entered, she bowed and gave an honourable greeting.

"You are?" Peter hadn’t expected this kind of service. As he looked at her more closely, Peter realized she was really pretty. She fit the image of a Middle eastern beauty - tall with big eyes that crinkled when she smiled, revealing two dimples. Seeing her fair and rosy skin made his heart flutter.

"My name is Maggie Parker, I am here to cater to your needs, sir. Please feel free to make any requests."

"Hmm, no there’s nothing much. Just carry on with your work."

"Your bath is ready, sir. Would you like to bathe now?"

Maggie Parker was quite good at her job, noticing that Peter was heading for the bathroom and immediately offering her services.

"Alright, I’ll take a bath first."

After traveling for so long, Peter was entirely covered in dust and felt uncomfortable all over.

Maggie Parker didn’t follow him into the bathroom. As soon as he stepped in, Peter noticed the large pool - it looked more like a large bathtub.

This was incredibly luxurious!

Peter shook his head and lowered himself into the warm water. The comforting sensation was so overwhelming that he almost groaned out loud.

Wondering about the conditions the others were in, and if they were as extravagant, he realized that this was indeed a luxury!

While soaking in the pool, Peter reflected on every incident that happened along the way. He realized that he was potentially in a lot of danger. He had offended several powerful organizations during the South Sea incident, and now more than one or two people were after him.

Considering the current situation, how would he protect himself?

This matter gave Peter quite a headache. His current cultivation was limited to the Qi Refining Second Layer. If he were to actually face off against an expert, he could get killed in a single unguarded moment.

What could be done?

Peter knew that relying on others would be a mistake; only he could truly protect himself.

The incident where someone with the cultivation of the Qi Refining Fourth Layer ambushed him today still sent a chill down his spine.

There are probably two ways people would try to kill him. One would be with a gun. Being at only Qi Refining’s second layer, guns pose quite a threat and are enough to finish him. After analyzing everything, Peter realized that the most significant threat to him at the moment was likely a firearm. If someone were to take a shot at him, he may not survive.

His primary task right now was to ensure his safety from an unexpected gunshot.

Considering that the opponent might be a sharpshooter, the likely targets were his head and his heart. If these two areas could be protected, the enemy would be unable to take him out immediately."

With this thought, Peter began searching within his inherited knowledge.

It seemed feasible to protect his body by wearing a bulletproof vest, but it was trickier to safeguard his head. How could he possibly protect it?

Right, the Body Refining Technique!

After searching for a while, Peter found a cultivation technique that should be useful to him.

This was a Body Refinement Technique - it could be practiced even in the Qi Refining First Layer and upon advancing to the Skin Refinement Layer, his skin would be strong enough to protect him from bullets.

Just as Peter stepped out of his room, he noticed Maurren Smith sitting in the lounge area, looking somewhat pale.

"Hey beautiful, what’s wrong?" Peter and Maurren were now quite familiar with each other, so he casually teased her.

"I wasn’t expecting you to pick up a girl in this foreign country!"

Peter laughed, " Didn’t they assign you a handsome guy? How preposterous! I’ll have a word with them."

"You jerk!"

Maurren suddenly got angry.

Laughing, Peter said, "Beautiful, have you fallen for me? Are you jealous?"

Maurren was so agitated that she... quickly changed her demeanor and laughed, "With your stamina, it would probably only last a few seconds. Stop dreaming about picking up beautiful girls."

Peter loved to tease Maurren. "Would you like to test it out?"

Truthfully, Peter could tell that ever since the ambush earlier in the day, she had been somewhat tense. So, he decided to ease her anxiety by joking around.
