Chapter 1722: Chapter 1720: Learning Machine
The Sacred Gate of the Path opened, and Peter Brown returned to Earth once again.
Reflecting on his entrance this time, Peter realized that overall, his preparation had still not been very good. If it weren’t for the Crystal Core Gun, he might have truly ended up being hunted.
Back in his room, Peter first took a shower before heading to the research lab.
"Salina, test this crystal core and see what kind of structure it has and how it differs from the last one."
He first placed the newly obtained crystal core on the research platform, where the AI could conduct a comprehensive test.
Then Peter started typing away at the computer non-stop.
This time, Peter was determined to create a translator device.
Peter had learned about a language learning device in the Technology Plane last time, and when he thought about translating languages, he still planned to develop this kind of learner.
As he worked on this device, an idea struck him – this could also be a useful tool for people, significantly reducing their learning time. Indeed, it seemed like a piece of equipment that could be widely promoted.
It looked like it could become a project in its own right.
Perfectly timed – his younger brother and sister didn’t have projects yet. Next, he’d just hand this project over to them; perhaps it could become their career.
The whole production process wasn’t difficult for Peter, and in no significant amount of time, the program’s design was finished. The next step was to hand it over to the AI for production.
After completing this task, Peter contemplated his defensive strategies. Engaging in combat with those within the Sanctuary without any protection felt challenging. While his body seemed very strong on Earth, the rules were clearly different inside the Sanctuary. His body wasn’t as resilient there.
As the AI kept working, Peter hadn’t yet figured out what to do, so he left the room to visit his parents.
Upon arriving while his father was discussing with David and Kate, Russell Williams spoke upon seeing Peter enter, "No more research for today?"
"Peter, you’re incredible, the Gene Medicine is selling like crazy now!"
David looked at Peter with eyes full of respect.
"Yeah, Peter, did you see those articles in the media? Everyone is saying that the advent of the Gene Medicine has greatly advanced human progress. Everywhere there are words of praise, and even the Nobel Prize is supposedly going to you this time."
Peter chuckled and said, "I’m not interested in any kind of award right now."
"Peter, you’re playing favorites!"
Kate pouted and complained.
"What’s wrong?"
"You are playing favorites. Everyone has a project, so why haven’t you given one to David and me? We’re not young anymore; we want to do something too."
"Yeah, Peter, can you get us a project? We can definitely make it a success, and you can surely come up with a great project for us."
Seeing that they were both fixated on this issue, Peter chuckled and said, "What’s this? You want to work now?"
"Yes, we’re not doing anything else, and given the current situation, we really should find something to do."
Russell suggested, "You could join in doing charity, but you don’t."
"You’re all involved in that, and we can’t get a word in. There are managers handling the public matters, and they are much better at it than we would be. Joining in wouldn’t make much of a difference." David added.
Kate remarked, "We know it’s a good deed to do charity, but we need our own careers, too. Look at Peter, then those like Reid Nelson and Ivy Cooper—they’re extraordinary figures now, with substantial influence all over the world. We want to be like them."
Peter was taken aback and said, "Worldwide influence?"
"Peter, haven’t you watched the news or something? Those two are basking in the limelight now. Since you never show your face, everyone thinks you’re the world’s most mysterious person. Everyone wants to interview you, but since you’re hidden away here, nobody can get in. Hence, they naturally became the center of attention."
Only then did Peter grasp their situation. Turning to his father, he asked, "Dad, how’s the charity foundation coming along?"
"Fantastic! Everyone is praising it, saying that Our House isn’t the kind of family that is rich but heartless."
Peter nodded, knowing his parents were still displeased with the harsh words from the villagers. "That’s good. Don’t be afraid to spend money. Our family really has an excess of money, more than we can ever spend. Do more good deeds. I’ll contribute another 100 billion; you try your best to utilize this money."
Russell happily replied, "We should do more of this. You too need to perform more charitable acts, now that you’ve earned so much money."
"Peter, you haven’t spoken about the project yet."
Today, the siblings were indeed clinging to their hopes with Peter.
"Have you thought about what you want to do?"
"We can’t think of anything on the spot. It feels like we can do anything, yet we don’t know which project to undertake."
"Yeah, Peter, any project you come up with can shine in the world. We want to work on such projects; our own endeavours would never be that glorious."
Peter burst into laughter; his brother and sister, it seemed, had the ambition to become world-famous figures like Reid Nelson and Ivy Cooper.
"In fact, you’re already in the spotlight – you’re my brother and sister!"
"But it’s not as satisfying as having a project of our own. So, help us out, please."
Peter replied, "Actually, there is a project that would be perfect for you two. If done well, it could indeed change the world."
Kate’s eyes sparkled as she eagerly said, "Peter, please tell us what it is. I’m sure I can do a great job."
After thinking for a moment, Peter said, "David, you start by working with Kate. Let her have the spotlight this time. Next time, I’ll find you another project. How does that sound?"
"Perfect, Peter! I want to achieve the same status as Reid Nelson and the others."
"If you do well, you could change the entire education system in the world."
"Really?"
Even Russell became curious at this point.
"I’ve invented a device that can automatically harvest all kinds of knowledge. After paying a certain fee, you can selectively learn the knowledge within it. It’s like transforming someone else’s knowledge into your own. And it takes very little time – for example, with mathematics knowledge from elementary school to university, it would take only a day to master it completely while wearing the device. As for a foreign language, you can fully grasp it as your own knowledge in just a day."
"What?" All three looked at Peter in astonishment, it was something they had never even considered before.
