Chapter 1690: Chapter 1688: Company Established
Peter Brown’s company was established, with only one shareholder, and that was Peter Brown himself. He didn’t set up a company with multiple shareholders.
Interestingly, the registered capital of this company, now called Smith Orbit Technology, was a million Hua currency, and currently, there were only two employees, Ivy Cooper and Sadie Smith.
Peter gave Ivy Cooper a list of equipment to purchase and then went to the government to discuss requisitioning land.
"A tech company? Planning to requisition land in Flower Creek Village?" The newly arrived number two in the county looked at Peter Brown with puzzlement.
"Yes, a tech company. I’m from Flower Creek Village, so I wanted to give back to the villagers and set up some operations there."
When Deputy County Chief Ryder Richardson looked at the registered capital of the company, his gaze sharpened—a million!
Which tech company only registers with a million.
But, from what Peter Brown said, it seemed like he wanted to requisition ten thousand acres of land. Where would he get that much money?
"Boss Wang, how about this—we’ll look into it and get back to you," the Deputy County Chief proposed.
Peter Brown casually replied, "Okay, I can wait a day. If it’s not feasible, then I’ll find another place."
Watching Peter Brown leave, Ryder Richardson sat there somewhat dazed, wondering to himself which tech enterprise would set down roots in the countryside. Could this young man be a fraud?
With that thought, Ryder Richardson made a call to the Bureau of Industry and Commerce.
Afterwards, he made several more calls.
After receiving information about Peter Brown, Ryder Richardson grew even more perplexed, impressed by how the young man had climbed from the status of a general migrant worker to a branch manager and was now setting out to do it on his own.
Soon, Ryder Richardson convened all the government leaders to discuss the matter.
Eventually, everyone agreed that as long as the real payment was made, they would requisition the ten thousand acres of land for Peter Brown. It wasn’t a big issue—just ensure the money was in place.
After all, Peter Brown was asking for land, and the land was there, so he couldn’t run away with it.
Of course, considering that Peter Brown’s company was waving the tech banner, the appropriate tax policies still had to be granted.
Then there was the matter of land fees.
Flower Creek Village was a poor village; it was unheard of for anyone to go there to invest. Since Peter Brown needed to develop there, why not offer more incentives?
"Everyone, this is industrial land. Compensation should be six to ten times the revenue of the first three years. What’s the situation in Flower Creek Village now?" one of the leaders inquired.
A leader responsible for this area chuckled and said, "We all know the situation in Flower Creek Village. That miserable place had a collective annual income of less than 10,000 dollars last year. How much could it be?"
Everyone shook their heads upon hearing this.
Ryder Richardson suggested, "If Peter Brown wants to develop there, it could promote the villagers’ poverty alleviation. If he really is serious, we should support him with policy. I think we should discuss this with him: It’s industrial land, so let’s set a one-time compensation of 600 dollars per acre, and not raise the price further. What do you think?"
Everyone pondered for a moment, and one leader said, "Wouldn’t that be too high and scare him off? You know, fifty dollars per acre is already good for Flower Creek Village."
Ryder Richardson said, "Let’s negotiate and see. If he really can employ labor in the factory, we could lower it a bit more."
In the afternoon, Peter Brown met with Deputy County Chief Marion Taylor to discuss the land price.
After negotiation, they agreed upon a compensation of 500 dollars per acre to be paid by Peter Brown, with preference to employ migrant workers from Flower Creek Village.
Peter Brown didn’t have many objections; it was just spending some cash. He believed that with the next steps done well, Flower Creek Village would undergo dramatic changes.
Seeing that Peter Brown was willing to make the payment upfront, the government became even more reassured.
Suddenly, all the procedures became more convenient.
After a week, ten thousand acres of land were allocated to Peter Brown’s company.
After settling these matters, Peter Brown went to find his uncle, Archie.
Archie Williams had always been worried about Peter Brown’s affairs. Upon seeing Peter arriving, Archie asked with concern, "How is your company doing?"
"I’ve requisitioned ten thousand acres in Flower Creek Village. Now, I’m here to ask for Uncle’s help."
Archie was puzzled, "Where did you get the money?"
"Don’t worry, I’ve got my sources. My company is about to kick off. What’s needed now is construction. Uncle, you’ve dealt with construction before, so I won’t bother seeking others. I need a team to help me with leveling and construction. We need to get the factory up and running as soon as possible, the equipment is all being purchased."
Seeing that Peter Brown was serious, Archie nodded vigorously and said, "Building isn’t a big issue. Give me the blueprints. As long as it’s not highly technical construction, we can handle it."
Peter Brown smiled and said, "Let’s start with a portion for now. The next step is indeed high-tech, and I’ll handle that myself."
"What kind of products are you making?" Archie was now genuinely curious.
Peter Brown replied, "Cars."
"What, you’re going to the backwoods to make cars?" Archie’s eyes widened as he looked at Peter Brown; he never imagined Peter would engage in such an endeavor.
Peter Brown just smiled, "Traffic is terrible these days, isn’t it? My car isn’t ordinary; it’s an anti-gravity car, capable of hovering in the air. Plus, it’s not that big. It’s quite small and very convenient."
At this point, Archie felt his brain wasn’t quite up to the task. The idea of making cars had always seemed beyond his reach, and now, hearing that Peter Brown was going to make cars, he didn’t know what to say.
"Uncle, you don’t understand these things, so don’t ask. I’m an expert in this field. I’m a professor at Provincial University. Making a car is no big deal," Peter Brown reassured.
Archie then remembered another of Peter’s titles—Professor at Provincial University. Realizing Peter Brown was a professor made him believe that Peter indeed had the capability for such an endeavor.
"Okay, bring out the design blueprints. I’ll get to arranging right away and ensure the factory is up and running quickly," Archie pledged.
"That’s settled then, I’ve got plenty more to sort out. You get everything organized," Peter said.
After meeting with Archie, Peter Brown went to the county officials, as he still had car manufacturing on his agenda, and needed to negotiate electricity, water supply, and road access with them.
Marion Taylor was completely flustered when he heard that Peter Brown’s first project was to make cars. He looked at Peter Brown again and realized he couldn’t understand him at all and wondered if the young man had any mental problems.
An individual who started out as a migrant worker had now requisitioned land to build a factory and planned to make cars—it was truly a baffling situation.
