Chapter 1656: Chapter 1654: Axe Sect
Axe Sect was an organization formed by some societal elements who proclaimed themselves as such, each member wielding a large axe and prone to brandishing it in acts of violence and destruction.
The leader of Axe Sect was said to be a skilled martial artist named Jace Wilson, who was notoriously fierce and ruthless. He had already caused several deaths and injuries with his own hands. The group consisted of over forty members; while not numerous, they fought with ferocious madness, even resulting in fatalities, instilling fear in the people of the county.
Hearing this, Peter Brown looked at Sadie Smith puzzled and asked, "With such limited power, shouldn’t the police in the county be able to take them out if they take action?"
Sadie Smith gave a wry smile and replied, "You don’t understand. Jace Wilson is the grandson of the former County Public Security Bureau Director. Though his grandfather has retired, his influence in the county is profound, especially given his extensive connections in the city. There was an incident where someone caught Jace, but not only was he released quickly, the person who caught him was crippled."
Such things did happen!
Peter Brown was similarly shocked.
"Jace Wilson has another tactic. He forces women to sleep with influential men of status, even coercing virtuous women. Under their spell, some people become his protective covers, making it even harder for anyone to take action against him."
Such power existed?
Peter Brown truly hadn’t anticipated that.
Looking at Peter Brown, Sadie Smith said, "Actually, Peter, I know you might not have a way out, but I have only one request: could you take me somewhere in the provincial city? I just need to escape their control. You have no idea how cruel they are to us. One of our sisters refused to comply, and she was gang-raped and then forced into continuous prostitution. Now, we don’t even know where she is. I had thought about marrying Hollis Wilson, the minor leader, to escape disaster, but I later realized Hollis is no good. Even if I married him, I’d just be a tool for him to make money. I refuse to accept that!"
As Sadie Smith spoke, her face was streaked with tears.
Peter Brown thought that this must be why Sadie Smith was willing to be with him—hoping he could help her escape the gang’s control.
"Don’t worry. I’ll handle this," Peter Brown said, having made some decisions after understanding the situation. It was clear that this gang couldn’t be allowed to continue unchecked.
"Peter, there’s something else you should be aware of. Yesterday, I was kind of reckless and didn’t think about the danger to you. The fact that I left with you will definitely reach Hollis. I’m worried he knows about you now. What should we do?"
Peter Brown just smiled. Sadie Smith had indeed dragged him into the situation yesterday, but now that she was bringing it up, it meant that he had all but conquered her last night.
"If you’ve decided to be my woman, then don’t worry so much. Here’s what we’ll do: you stay here, and I’ll deal with your problems."
Just as he said that, Sadie Smith’s cell phone began to ring.
When Sadie Smith saw the number on the phone, her face changed, and she said, "It’s a call from Hollis Wilson."
"It’s okay. Answer it. If he has anything to say, I’ll handle him."
Hollis Wilson had gotten drunk last night and upon waking up learned that Sadie Smith, in an unusual move, had left with someone. It sent him into a rage, and he immediately called her.
"Sadie Smith, how dare you go to a hotel with a man! You’re looking for trouble!"
As soon as the call connected, Hollis started cursing.
Sadie glanced at Peter Brown, her courage bolstered, and said firmly, "Hollis Wilson, you’re well aware of your own situation. And I know exactly what your intentions were in wanting to marry me. I hope we can part on good terms."
"Sadie Smith, you’re seeking death. My women are mine to play with. Even if I can’t have you, you’d still have to make money for me," Hollis retorted.
Peter Brown, who overheard the conversation through the phone, gestured for Sadie to hand it to him. "Is this Hollis Wilson? I’ve heard you’re not doing so well. How about we make a deal?"
"Are you that Manager_Wu?"
Indeed, Hollis had clarified some details and knew that Sadie Smith had left with someone called Manager_Wu. The fact that his own fiancée, whom he hadn’t touched yet, had been with another man infuriated him.
"Kid, you dare sleep with my woman? I won’t be a Wilson if I don’t beat you to death." He wasn’t interested in any deal.
Peter Brown said, "I was thinking of helping you with your problem, but since you’re acting like this, bring it on."
"You can cure my problem?" Hollis asked, intrigued.
Actually, the one thing Hollis wanted most was a cure for his ailment. With no solution in sight, the promise of a cure stirred his interest.
After all, a fiancée was just a fiancée. Since he couldn’t perform anyway, exchanging her for his own happiness seemed a profitable deal. Why wouldn’t he do it?
Besides, after getting cured, he figured he could take care of Manager_Wu later—hardly a concern for him.
With that thought, Hollis’s previous anger subsided, and he asked again, "Can you really treat my condition?"
"I can treat it, but I’ll need Sadie Smith."
"Fine, as long as you can cure me, you can have the woman," Hollis agreed.
Peter Brown wanted to stabilize the situation first, then deal with the rest, so, satisfied with Hollis’s agreement, he responded with a slight smile, "Alright, let’s meet up somewhere then."
Hollis named a location.
After hanging up, Sadie Smith expressed her concern, "Peter, Hollis has no credibility. Don’t fall for his tricks."
Peter Brown smiled and assured her, "Leave it to me. It’s no big deal. Someone like him won’t be hard for me to handle. You rest here well, and I’ll take care of this."
Hearing Peter Brown’s words and seeing his commanding aura, Sadie Smith suddenly felt the need to relax, nodding in agreement, "I’ll listen to you."
At that moment, Sadie Smith realized how secure she felt under the protection of a strong individual.
Watching Sadie Smith go to rest, Peter Brown left for the location specified by Hollis. He had many tricks up his sleeve to handle the situation and felt no fear. With his overwhelming power, dealing with Hollis Wilson would be trivial.
