Chapter 1630: Chapter 1628: Waves Again
It took a day, but Peter Brown finally managed to locate Leo Jones and installed a hidden program on his cell phone.
"Mr. Jones, Rylan Williams has been moved again," a stranger’s call came to Leo Jones.
This was the first time Peter Brown heard Leo Jones talking to someone on the phone.
In fact, Peter Brown had set a filter on the program to only alert him if Rylan Williams’s name was involved. Normally, he wouldn’t listen to the calls since that guy was constantly receiving calls all day long, and listening to them all would be maddening.
When he heard Rylan Williams’s name, Peter automatically tuned in.
"Haha, that guy is just a hopeless mess. Even if the Woods Family placed him in that small company, he would still cause trouble, unbelievable."
"Mr. Jones, he’s allegedly told some friends that he’s going to make things difficult for you, and he said quite a few nasty things too."
"Hmph, what could he possibly use to compete with me?"
After thinking for a moment, Leo Jones said, "Where has he been transferred?"
"It’s said that he’s been moved to the City Investment Company."
"Why is he being transferred?" Leo Jones asked, curiously.
"I’m not entirely certain, but from what I’ve gathered, the first day he took charge, he tried to establish his authority. Instead, he ended up getting publicly embarrassed by a man who started as a migrant worker."
"Oh, is that so? Tell me more about it."
The person then recounted the incident involving Peter Brown at the meeting.
Leo Jones burst into laughter, "That guy is really unlucky, picking such a tough person to assert his dominance over. I’d actually like to meet this fellow sometime. He truly is talented."
The person went on to describe Rylan Williams’s situation at the branch office for a while.
After listening, Leo Jones was silent for a moment, then contemplated before asking, "Do you think, Rylan Williams getting involved with a woman named Ivy Cooper in a room was really the work of a computer expert?"
"Mr. Jones, we’ve looked into it, and it’s very likely. We’ve also gathered some information that seems to connect him with that migrant worker."
"Oh, tell me more."
"Mr. Jones, that migrant worker is obviously proficient in computing. Although Rylan Williams isn’t impressive, he did study computers seriously abroad for a while and is quite skilled, but he’s no match for the migrant worker in face-to-face interactions. So it’s possible he got outplayed by the migrant worker."
"You mean it’s very likely that the migrant worker got a hold of some dirt on him, and he knows that the one who orchestrated it was called Peter Brown, the migrant worker?"
"Mr. Jones, Rylan Williams’s transfer might very well be related to this issue."
"Hmm, it seems there’s indeed an interesting matter here. What kind of dirt did that guy get on Rylan Williams, and why does Williams have to avoid it?"
"Mr. Jones, knowing Rylan Williams’s temperament, he wouldn’t just let this pass. I suspect he’s avoiding him to throw off that guy, now trying to conceal any vulnerabilities and once he has sorted things out, he will probably take care of that migrant worker."
Peter Brown shook his head in resignation upon hearing this; he thought his operation had been flawless, but smart people abound, and just a bit of information allowed them to deduce so much.
Leo Jones laughed heartily, "Such talent! Such talent! Immediately focus on collecting more info about that guy. If he truly has what we need, I indeed ought to meet him."
Once the call concluded, they hung up.
Peter Brown sat there, deep in thought for a long time.
This situation was not necessarily a bad thing for Peter Brown. He felt that if he played his cards right, he might indeed be able to utilize the power of the Woods Family.
Of course, Peter also understood that the Woods Family members were not easy to dismiss. A misstep might ensnare him too, so he needed to carefully consider his approach to avoid offending both parties, which would complicate matters further.
Suddenly inspired, Peter returned to his dormitory, then dialed Henry Ford’s number.
"Brother_Montgomery, I’ve come across some information."
"Speak," Henry Ford probably had no one around him at the moment.
"I heard that Rylan Williams is about to be transferred. Everything’s nearly settled now, and he might leave the Group Company for the City Investment Company in the next two days."
Henry Ford was actually unaware of this matter. Upon hearing this, he understood Peter’s intention for him to return to the branch office.
"Are you sure about this news?"
"Brother_Montgomery, it’s true."
"Okay, Peter, I understand," Henry Ford said.
After hanging up the call, Peter sat there and analyzed the situation further.
When Peter returned to the office, he instantly saw Henry Carter in his office.
Peter knew that Henry Carter had been seeking a transfer recently, and his relationship with Rylan Williams was deteriorating.
After some thought, Peter walked into Henry Carter’s office.
Seeing Peter enter, Henry Carter smiled and said, "Peter, what’s up?"
"Dexter, there’s news that Mr. Williams is likely to be transferred from our Group Company in the next two or three days."
"What?" Henry Carter’s eyes lit up, and he straightened in his chair to look at Peter.
"He’s being transferred to the Provincial City Investment Company."
Henry Carter earnestly asked, "Is it confirmed?"
"It’s nearly settled, we’re just waiting on our Group Company’s approval, a matter of a day or two."
Henry Carter nodded slightly.
"Dexter, you’re busy; I’ll head back to my office."
Henry Carter even stood up to escort Peter to the door.
Back in his office, Peter carefully considered again. He had shared this news with two people to let them know he had connections and could access such information. The next steps were up to them.
Peter believed that the branch office would certainly need a new manager after Rylan Williams’s departure. Henry Ford would likely be willing to take up the role, but Henry Carter had a greater chance. By informing them now, it would probably benefit him when it mattered.
This was Peter’s strategy for Rylan Williams’s departure. Of course, Peter was even more aware that with Rylan’s transfer, his struggle with the Carter Clan was just beginning. He had to take them down next, or he would be finished.
Leo Jones’s actions were also a consideration, but he couldn’t fully trust them; he still needed to think of more strategies on his own.
