Chapter 1620: Chapter 1619: Hedge Betting

Several days had passed, and Peter Brown’s days had become quite pleasant. The pleasing behavior of the two beauties in the office greatly delighted Peter, as they took the initiative daily to clean and prepared his tea early.

Imogan Jones changed quickly as well. She realized that relying on Azrael Richardson was not a solution and reduced her visits to him.

Peter had unintentionally read about analyzing women’s facial features online and had closely observed Imogan’s eyebrows and her walk. He thought to himself that this girl probably hadn’t been involved with Azrael in that way yet; otherwise, her eyebrows would be more disheveled and her legs not so tightly closed.

Observing these two beauties from time to time, Peter’s mood had been improving. He hadn’t expected to become the head of the Integrated Office so quickly.

Upon reflecting on his entire body, Peter felt somewhat surprised.

Others might not have known, but Peter was aware of his abilities. Ever since his promotion had been confirmed at the meeting, he felt as if he could clearly see the fusion occurring inside his body, as if he had opened the "Heavenly Eye." Now, he could see inside his area below the navel.

This was shocking for Peter; although he couldn’t see everything clearly, it was still progress.

Sitting there, sipping his tea and watching various fusions occur inside his body below the navel, Peter had an epiphany. Perhaps each job promotion was also a way to break free from constraints, possibly unlocking something with each level he ascended.

While Peter was pondering these things, Rylan Williams’ call came through.

"Come over; I’m waiting for you at my place."

Rylan had been doing much better recently, although he often did not come to the office.

Peter drove his car toward Rylan’s place.

After his nightly training sessions, Peter had obtained his driver’s license just the day before yesterday. Now, he was officially a licensed driver.

Upon arriving, he saw Rylan already seated in the car, having procured a driver from somewhere. This man gave off an aura of lethality—Peter sensed he was likely a military man, or at least had been one in the past.

Peter didn’t want to pry into Rylan’s affairs.

"Get in my car," Rylan said to Peter.

Peter then got into Rylan’s car.

Once inside, he noticed that there were no other people except the driver and a nanny.

"Your computer skills are solid; come with me on a trip."

"Okay," Peter replied, not understanding what the other intended but confident that he could handle anything computer-related.

The car unexpectedly headed toward the provincial capital, and Peter didn’t inquire further, simply sitting there in silence.

In less than two hours, the car arrived at a luxurious room in the provincial capital.

It wasn’t until Peter followed Rylan inside that he realized several people were already there.

The moment he saw Rylan being wheeled in, a man, also around thirty years old, in the center burst out laughing, "Ah Rylan, look at you, turned into a wounded soldier now, what’s this game you’re playing?"

Rylan snorted, "Cut the crap, let’s start the gambling."

""You know this is a five million dollar gamble, right? My website is ready. If you can hack it, the five million is yours; otherwise, you leave behind five million. How about it? Ready to admit defeat?"

"Hmph, it’s just five million; it’s no big deal even though you poached my man; I can still beat you," Rylan retorted."

Laughing, the man said, "That’s what I’ve been waiting to hear. What, couldn’t find any experts, so you brought a young man?" He then scrutinized Peter.

Two computers were already set up in the room, and the man said, "Check the computers first; I won’t bully you."

Peter actually found it baffling that these young masters had traveled so far just to gamble in this room; it was entirely beyond his expectations.

"Peter Brown, I know your computer skills far surpass mine. Today, you help me hack his website, firstly to prevent him from breaching yours and secondly to breach his. If we win the five million, I’ll give you a million," Rylan explained.

Peter asked for clarification and finally understood: the two had been rivals since their study abroad days and had always set up these kind of computer website hacking bets. Rylan had always been at a disadvantage. This time, Rylan had secured an expert, but that expert was lured away by the opponent. They had scheduled this bet, and if Rylan didn’t participate, the five million would go to his opponent. Rylan couldn’t find anyone else at the last minute and couldn’t afford to lose face, so he turned to Peter, who was more skilled than him.

Knowing the situation, Peter was dumbfounded; he hadn’t expected to get dragged into this mess.

Although he knew winning could offend the man, Peter couldn’t worry about that now.

Looking at Rylan, Peter could tell that Rylan wasn’t very confident.

"Just do your best; I wouldn’t have come if the bet wasn’t so big."

Speaking of this, Rylan appeared quite resentful; it was clear the discord between them was deep.

"Haha, I advise you to just admit defeat. You won’t find an expert in this province in such a short time; you are destined to lose," the man, named Dylan Johnson, another young master, remarked. Initially, he set the bet at five million when Rylan had his expert, making Rylan believe he would surely win the bet. However, right before the start, his expert disappeared, likely flipped by Dylan, and finding another expert on such short notice was truly difficult.

Bringing in Peter appeared to be Rylan’s last resort.

After sitting down, Peter quickly gained administrative rights to a website, and immediately began typing rapidly.

The room fell silent; only the sound of typing could be heard.

Peter’s fingers flew over the keys, and lines of code appeared swiftly. Soon, he had inspected the entire website.

Then, Peter took out a USB and worked on it for a while.

"How’s it going?"

"They can’t breach it," Peter confidently replied.

"Good, if we can withstand their attacks for two hours without being breached, we consider that a win for the first round. If we can break through their defenses and take control of their website, we win another round."

Peter nodded at this and after typing for a while said, "It’s ready, let him attack."
