Chapter 1601: Chapter 1600: Apply Pressure
The next day when he came to work, Ivy Cooper clearly seemed in a good mood, humming a tune as she walked in, dressed in eye-catching skirts.
Peter Brown glanced at the woman and his opinion of her dropped significantly. He hadn’t expected her to stop at nothing to climb the ladder.
However, Peter had to admit that this woman was increasingly thriving.
"Peter, good morning!"
Ivy Cooper took the initiative to greet Peter.
"Morning to you too." Peter still displayed a diligent and responsible attitude, cleaning the office for a while.
Glancing in the direction of Reid Nelson’s office desk, Ivy expressed her surprise, "Isn’t Reid here yet?"
"Yes, she hasn’t come to work yet today."
Ivy then looked at Peter and said, "I did hear some gossip, apparently the new leadership isn’t too fond of her."
Peter gave a secret chuckle, considering the gossip to be sourced directly from the bedroom.
However, Peter didn’t expose this and pretended to be shocked, "Really?"
"Indeed, I heard that a meeting to discuss the adjustments of middle management is scheduled for the day after tomorrow. Who will rise and who will fall is really uncertain."
It looked like Rylan Williams had promised her benefits!
Seeing Ivy’s smug look, Peter knew in his heart that this woman was likely to climb the ranks in the adjustment, but he was unsure about what position she might attain.
At that moment, Peter also pondered the possible job adjustments that could take place, understanding that his own chances of advancement were slim. If Ivy had Rylan Williams’ strong support, she might jump straight to being a manager.
Ivy sat there humming a tune, while Peter sat thinking about the potential developments in the branch office. Reaching his current level, Peter began to strategize more about his future.
Recently, Peter had even come to realize that his own development might also have certain requirements. The higher he aimed, the smoother his integration would progress.
The mobile game was handed off to Reid Nelson to manage, and Peter didn’t want to intervene in that for the time being. Additionally, a million dollars had been handed over to its uncle, with no interest from Peter in the stone business either. He had already decided not to get involved in these two matters. So, what else could he possibly do?
Peter had long treated the workplace as a place for self-training. If he were to feel pressured and leave, he would not even respect himself, and it certainly would not be beneficial for his integration. Therefore, what Peter needed to do was to swim against the tide and break through the barriers.
"Peter Brown..." Rylan Williams passed by the door, glanced at Ivy, and then called out to Peter.
After Rylan entered his office, he looked at Peter and said, "You are fluent in three foreign languages and are computer literate. The company plans to put you under some pressure by setting up a new Information Department and having you as the Section Chief. What do you think?"
Nonsense!
Upon hearing this, Peter immediately understood that the young man planned to freeze him in a backwater role.
"Mr. Williams, the City Investment Bureau asked for my help last time; I think I’ll give it a try."
Rylan’s expression cooled as he stared at Peter.
With a calm demeanor, Peter said, "Edward Ford contacted me. If I’m really not needed here, it might be good for me to go there."
"You!"
Rylan found himself in a tough spot to speak further. He had just spoken about adding responsibilities, but Peter was not willing to take them on. Moreover, Peter was not leaving; he was to be temporarily transferred based on previous agreements. This wasn’t considered a resignation, so it wouldn’t make sense for Rylan to try to give him a hard time again.
Looking at Peter standing there, Rylan didn’t want to appear vengeful, so he could only smile and say, "I wanted to add some responsibilities for you, but since that’s the case, just continue working in the office. However, there will be some adjustments among the office staff, and you won’t be promoted this time. You’ll need to do more of the office work. Alright, you can go now."
Peter Brown just walked out of Rylan Williams’ office.
All along the way, Peter had also felt that this guy bore a grudge against him. He hadn’t found a good excuse to deal with him this time, but what about next time?
No, he had to bring him down this time, no matter what!
At that moment, Peter made up his mind to settle the score with Rylan Williams.
If it were someone else, Peter wouldn’t have so many chances to deal with him, but when it came to this guy, Peter felt he had a large amount of opportunities.
Upon entering the office, Peter saw that Reid Nelson had already arrived.
"Reid?"
"Peter, I’ve made up my mind. I’m resigning today. I’ve already written the resignation letter," she said.
Peter then looked towards Ivy Cooper, seeing the look of surprise on her face.
Reid Nelson finished speaking and walked towards Rylan Williams’ office.
"Peter, what did Mr. Williams want from you?" Ivy Cooper asked.
Peter chuckled inwardly, certain that his own affair with the information room must be related to this woman, who now pretended to be unaware!
"He said to work properly in this office, nothing else."
"In this office?" Ivy Cooper’s eyes widened as she looked at Peter.
"Yes, I don’t understand the situation either."
Ivy’s brows furrowed, seeming to be confused as well.
Soon, Reid Nelson walked out from Rylan Williams’ office.
"Reid, how did it go?" Ivy asked.
"It doesn’t matter, I resigned whether it was approved or not," replied Reid.
Peter asked, "Are you really sure about this?"
"Don’t worry, I have a way out," Reid said meaningfully to Peter.
Possibly many people were paying attention to Reid Nelson’s situation, and news of her resignation spread quickly. Suddenly, the office was crowded with people, all asking about her resignation with various emotions.
Peter did not concern himself with everyone else’s reactions and helped Reid clean up her items, then found a cardboard box to help pack them.
At that moment, Rylan Williams entered with a gloomy face, glanced at Reid, and said sternly, "In light of Reid Nelson’s sudden resignation, the office work will be temporarily managed by Comrade Ivy Cooper." After speaking, he walked out.
At that, everyone’s gaze suddenly turned to Peter. According to the rules, when the director left, the deputy should take over. Williams was really not being fair in his actions!
Looking at Peter again, it seemed as though he hadn’t heard anything and continued helping Reid pack her items and move them out.
After the two came out, Reid said, "I plan to set up the company in the provincial city. I’m going to the provincial city today."
"That’s up to you, I’ve left everything to you," he replied.
"Yep, after I’ve sorted everything out, you’ll need to come and sign some documents since the company is yours. You shouldn’t just stay here, go and do your own thing," she suggested.
