Chapter 1548: Chapter 1547: Something’s Got to Be Done_2

He wasn’t sure how far their relationship had progressed.

As Peter Brown looked over the conversation between the two, he suddenly noticed something new: It seemed as though Edward Ford’s position was at risk according to the deputy general manager’s words.

The headquarters were about to make a move against Edward Ford!

Seeing this situation, Peter Brown started to worry. His uncle had definitely relied on Edward Ford for his career development, and his own good fortune was a result of Edward Ford’s help. Now that he was also being helped by Edward Ford, what would happen to him if Edward Ford were to fall? Would he be one of the personnel to be laid off?

Although Peter wasn’t concerned about being laid off, being laid off would firstly displease his uncle and secondly, would damage the image of a strong person that he had; he simply couldn’t ignore this matter.

The more he thought about it, the more he realized this was a significant issue. Peter began to pace around the office non-stop; he absolutely couldn’t allow Edward Ford to fall.

The following morning, Peter had breakfast and entered the office early.

As the weather warmed up, the women started wearing skirts. When Reid Nelson walked in, she was wearing a short skirt, and Ivy Cooper was also in a short skirt. Both women were beauties, and once they entered the office, Peter could definitely feel a spring-like atmosphere filling the space.

Looking at the two women, Peter saw both wore long stockings, accentuating their shapely, slendor legs.

"Good morning, Reid,"

Ivy’s expression towards Reid Nelson exuded a pleasing demeanor, showing no hint of her relationship with a deputy general manager.

"Ivy, your skirt is so pretty today."

The two women started talking about skirts, and the conversation went on for quite some time.

A chat with beauties naturally filled the office with a vibe of spring. Sitting in the office, Peter felt a sense of enjoyment, even though he had been with many women, the lifestyle of these professional beauties also sparked his curiosity.

Sitting there, Peter observed the two women carefully and after some observation, he discovered some subtle dynamics he hadn’t noticed before. It became clear that their amiability was merely superficial; what they truly thought of each other, however, remained unclear.

Just then, Mr. Graham, the deputy manager, came in, casting a glance at Ivy Cooper first.

Peter suddenly had a revelation. There was definitely a kind of relationship between Mr. Graham and Ivy; the look in his eyes didn’t lie. It revealed a close affinity, but it wasn’t lascivious; it was, rather, a look filled with a pleasing intention.

Interesting indeed!

With this discovery, Peter began to observe even more closely, albeit covertly.

At that moment, Mr. Graham addressed Reid Nelson, "Reid, have Ivy accompany me on an errand."

"Alright."

Reid consented with a nod.

Ivy stood up, a smile on her face, and asked, "Mr. Graham, where are we going?"

"Let’s go. We’re visiting the county government today."

As the two left one after the other, Reid Nelson sat playing with a pen in her hand, clearly unsettled.

How interesting!

Now, Peter truly realized he had neglected some aspects before; observing every individual was indeed a pleasure.

After sitting for a while, he saw Reid rise and walk towards the office door, then heard footsteps indicating she had gone to Edward Ford’s office.

Gently tapping on the desk, Peter sat thinking about the potential developments.

From the conversation with Ivy Cooper that he had witnessed the night before, he knew that someone at the branch office wanted to target Edward Ford, and someone at the higher-ups wanted to make a move on him too. But if Edward Ford was removed, who would take over as the branch office’s manager?

What should he do in this situation?

After some thought, Peter felt that he still needed to discuss this with his uncle, as he wasn’t well acquainted with the branch office’s dynamics.

After a while, Reid Nelson returned.

"Director, I’m going to check out the construction site," Peter Brown said to Reid Nelson.

Reid Nelson was clearly off her game today and nonchalantly gave a grunt of acknowledgment.

Peter quickly found his uncle at the construction site.

Upon seeing Peter arrive, Archie Williams asked, "What are you doing here?"

"Uncle, I need to talk to you about something."

Pulling Archie Williams aside to a deserted place, Peter whispered, "Uncle, do you know there’s going to be some personnel changes in the branch office?"

"What?" Archie Williams was clearly taken aback.

"Edward Ford might be set up and taken down."

Peter even said something that shocked Archie Williams.

"Who did you hear that from?" Archie Williams was obviously panicking and asked urgently.

"When I was leaving work yesterday, I accidentally overheard Ivy Cooper talking on the phone with the Deputy General, Theodore Smith, from the head office. Even though they were speaking softly, they mentioned this matter. Uncle, you should find time to remind Edward Ford about this."

Nodding emphatically, Archie Williams said, "Good lad, this information is very important. I will talk to Edward Ford about it right away."

"Uncle, find a time when no one’s around to talk about it."

That was precisely the effect Peter wanted. Seeing that his uncle had grasped his intent, he made some idle conversation and then returned to the office.

Once he was back in the office, Peter saw Deputy Manager Vincent Clinton sitting there, chatting idly with Reid Nelson.

As soon as he entered the office, they stopped talking, and Vincent Clinton smiled at Peter, "Peter, where have you been?"

"I went to check the construction site and verified some data."

"Good, good, young people should take initiative in their work."

After exchanging a few pleasantries, Vincent Clinton left the office.

Time ticked away, and just before the end of the day, General Manager Henry Ford arrived at the office door and said to Peter, "Peter, come with me to a dinner engagement. You can hold your liquor well, help me out."

Peter agreed and followed Henry Ford out.

The car was driven by Joseph Smith, a man with a special forces background who was loyally devoted to Henry Ford and usually didn’t talk much.

After driving for a while, Henry Ford said to Joseph Smith, "Go buy me a pack of cigarettes."

Joseph Smith glanced at Peter, nodded, and got out of the car.

Watching Joseph Smith leave, Henry Ford turned to Peter and said, "Your uncle told me about the situation. How did you hear about it?"

Peter felt a surge of joy inside. This was exactly what he had hoped to see. By involving his uncle, he had effectively introduced himself to Henry Ford. As long as Henry Ford remained unshaken by the situation, Peter’s position in the company was sure to rise.

"General Manager Ford, you’ve been good to us. I couldn’t keep silent after hearing about it. I didn’t think it was appropriate to come to you directly, so I told my uncle, hoping he would warn you."

"Very well, Peter, good job!"

A smile played across Henry Ford’s face.

"Here’s what happened: I was off work with nothing to do and thought of going for a stroll. By chance, I saw Ivy Cooper making a phone call just outside the site. At first, I didn’t pay attention, but then I heard your name and listened in. She was on the phone with a Deputy General named Theodore Smith from the head office. I have no idea who this Theodore Smith is, but from their conversation, it seemed like someone in the branch office was tampering with your files, and some people at the head office were plotting to take you down."

At this point, Peter added, "Oh, and this morning, Mr. Graham called Ivy Cooper out. Mind you, I noticed Mr. Graham was treating her very courteously."

Listening quietly to Peter’s words, Henry Ford looked him over thoughtfully for the first time, musing that he never expected to harvest such gains by assigning someone to the office by chance. The kid was a real talent.

Giving Peter a firm pat on the shoulder, Henry Ford said, "Peter, good job, good job. Keep up the good work, and come straight to me if you’ve got anything to say in the future."
