Chapter 1416: Chapter 1416: Seth Nelson Is Somewhat Flustered_1
When Peter returned to the village, Seth Nelson finally figured out the situation. He never expected that his attempt to deal with Peter would cause such a big commotion in Fruitful Village.
At that time, the Town Party Committee meeting was also taking place. Bruce Richardson, sitting there, glanced at everyone and said loudly, "As I’ve mentioned, the county is taking the Fruitful Village project very seriously. It’s under my charge, and the town must prioritize Fruitful Village’s poverty alleviation efforts. We must provide manpower and funds as needed to ensure the success of this initiative."
Seth said, "Bruce, although Peter has done some work, his undisciplined behavior still needs to be addressed. This time he bypassed our town to contact the county authorities directly. That’s a disrespect to our town’s leadership. Everyone, let’s discuss whether we should discipline him. Without consequences, if everyone starts acting this way, wouldn’t it be chaos?"
Bruce said with a smile, "Who said he bypassed the town? Comrade Peter Brown has always been in touch with me. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to initiate these two projects. I think not only should we not discipline him, but he should also be commended."
This was the first face-off between the two men. The leaders were all startled as this was unprecedented.
Seth was a local power broker, and Bruce was an official from outside. Hadn’t Bruce always yielded to Seth? What happened today?
The conference room suddenly became quiet, and everyone started feeling uneasy, unsure of what might happen next.
Seth spoke solemnly, "Look, Peter is just an employee, yet after the shareholding company was established, he ended up owning so many shares. Is that the behavior of a cadre?"
The room buzzed with disapproval at his words. Who in the town hadn’t used development projects to buy into some investments? It was just that their profits weren’t high, and now Seth was making an issue out of it.
"Seth, the shareholding issue was decided within the village by the village assembly. Nobody can really object to that, can they?"
"Anyway, I believe that Peter is undisciplined and must be dealt with. Let’s vote by raising hands," Seth insisted.
Seth had always been like this, quick to call a vote whenever there was a disagreement, confident that the leading members here wouldn’t dare oppose him, thus, his proposals would be passed easily.
However, Bruce obviously wanted to stand his ground today. He said with a smile, "Seth, the county is said to be holding a leadership meeting today, and I suspect there’s a significant resolution concerning our town’s Fruitful Village about to be passed."
"What?"
Seth was genuinely unaware of this development and looked at Bruce in surprise.
Bruce had deliberately kept this matter secret, wanting to play his hand at this moment. He said with a smile, "If we discipline Peter here, and the county ends up promoting him instead, that would be quite the joke."
"Impossible, why would he be promoted?"
Bruce smiled and replied, "Because the county plans to designate Fruitful Village as a county-level development zone!"
"What?"
Seth stood up abruptly, genuinely not having anticipated this.
The town’s leading members were also shocked; this development was much more significant than anyone had expected, raising questions among them.
Bruce, who had already been notified, said with a smile, "Actually, another topic of today’s meeting concerns Fruitful Village. This time, Peter has really made a significant impact."
"What exactly is going on?" the Discipline Secretary inquired.
Bruce explained, "Hasn’t Peter developed a kind of wine in Fruitful Village? Let me tell you, the wine that Seth, the Town Chief, overlooked has now become a hit in the province. It’s been approved by the Wine Association for its significant effects, and a company has applied for provincial distribution, offering five hundred per bottle as a wholesale price."
"What?"
Everyone was flabbergasted; they had never heard of a product from the county becoming so successful. Could Peter be about to launch a satellite?
Shocked, Seth exclaimed, "How could it sell for such a high price?" Although he knew that Peter had initiated these two projects, he was taken aback by the unexpectedly high selling price.
The more the others calculated, the more astonished they became at the potential revenue.
"Not just that, you’ve heard of Kingston’s Johnson Group, haven’t you? They’ve already negotiated with Peter. They’re investing Ten Billion to buy into the wine factory, to restructure the wine and kiln factories into a large-scale wine factory. Under this agreement, the county recognizes Fruitful Village has huge developmental prospects and is planning to invest heavily in it, turning Fruitful Village into a development zone," Bruce continued.
Shocked!
All were speechless, unable to fathom that the hitherto underrated Fruitful Village could stir such a huge buzz, thanks to Peter.
"You’re saying the Johnson Group is investing Ten Billion? Then how are the shares divided?" Seth was dumbfounded, yet he realized the enormous interests involved.
Glancing at Seth, Bruce explained, "Of course, the Johnson Group gets the majority stake. Peter holds an indilutable 10% share through technology shareholding, the village community council holds 12%, the town holds 1%, and the county holds 2%."
Even though Darcy Richardson didn’t receive any shares, The Higher-Ups took note of his merit recognition, and he was expected to be promoted next; this was his political achievement, and he was naturally delighted. Most importantly, he initially had no real power in the town, but now, through this project, he had taken the accomplishments that should have been Seth’s.
"If that’s the case, having Peter, a deputy director, handle the affairs of the development zone doesn’t seem appropriate anymore. The town should consider a new candidate," Seth thought quickly.
Bruce said with a smile, "That’s why the county is holding a meeting today to discuss this matter. But Seth, do you really think we can do without Comrade Peter Brown for this project?"
At his words, the room fell silent again. If Peter held a technology shareholding, he was indeed indispensable.
Who could have expected this?
The room remained silent, no one having anticipated that Peter could create such a significant impact in such a short time. Was Peter still someone Seth could handle?
Considering the animosity between Peter and Seth and the county’s potential interest in the project, everyone speculated about what might happen next, suggesting that Peter was on the brink of success.
Seth sat there, completely unsettled. He had never imagined that the situation would evolve in this direction. Had he known he would have investigated Peter’s project more thoroughly before acting; his disdain had caused him to miss out on a significant political achievement.
When he looked at Bruce, Seth realized that in this affair, Bruce had gained the upper hand.
What to do?
Seth knew that now he really couldn’t do anything to Peter.
