Peter Brown and Jessamine Armstrong were in good spirits today, standing there welcoming the guests with smiles on their faces.

After going through so many obstacles, the two young adults from Stone Lake Stoneworks Company finally came together in marriage. Only they knew the hardships they both had undergone.

"Chase, where are your classmates? Why haven’t they arrived yet?"

"They should be here soon. Don’t worry, Peter and I were really close in school."

While the two were talking, a BMW stopped in front of them, and an enchantingly beautiful woman stepped out of the car.

The woman walked directly towards them.

"Ms. Johnson is here?" Both of them went to meet her.

Ms. Johnson, a woman, looked at Jessamine and said, "To be honest, I didn’t plan on coming, but due to the company’s poor performance, they decided to lay off some staff. Both the Marketing Department and the Quality Control Department will be affected. I’m here today to inform you both, so please go and complete the formalities later."

Jessamine was dumbfounded. She and Peter were both employees of Stone Lake Stoneworks Company. Although their salaries were not high, they were good employees. How could they be laid off, and together at the same time?

Jessamine quickly understood the reason. Ms. Johnson had been trying to get her to marry her son, who she didn’t like at all. Under Ms. Johnson’s influence, her son had already impregnated two female workers at the company. How could she marry him?

Glancing at the trembling Peter, Jessamine knew he must be implicated because of her.

Why choose their wedding day to inform them of their layoff? It was clearly intended to embarrass them.

"What gives you the right to fire us?"

Chase was extremely angry and said in a deep voice.

Chase was a Marketing Department employee. Although the company wasn’t doing well, it was still regarded as a fairly good company within the county. He worked hard to support it, so being laid off was unexpected for him.

Jessamine tugged on Chase’s clothes and said: "It’s just a job, not a big deal. We don’t need it anyway."

Then she turned to Ms. Johnson and said, "Take care, no need to see you off."

Ms. Johnson snorted and said: "Such poor taste!"

She said this while looking at Chase.

"Say that again."

Chase was about to rush over.

"What are you doing?"

At this moment, Ms. Johnson’s son burst out of the car.

He was a fierce-looking young man who threw a punch at Chase as soon as he came out.

It was obvious that this mother-son duo had only come to cause trouble.

Usually, no one would cause a scene during someone else’s wedding, as it was considered disgraceful. However, Johnson’s mother and son duo intentionally stirred up chaos today, even raising their voices loudly.

He shouted: "Chase, look at yourself! Organizing such a paltry wedding banquet in this crappy place, isn’t it obvious that you have no skills!"

At this point, both families heard the commotion outside and came out.

Seeing Jessamine’s parents come out, the young man got more aggressive. He knew that Jessamine’s parents didn’t like Chase. He had been to Jessamine’s house a few times and had become acquainted with her family. He shouted loudly, "Chase, you’re in trouble now! Even Jessamine lost her job because of you! What else can you do?!"

At this moment, Chase couldn’t take it anymore and charged at the young man.

If it weren’t for the best man who immediately noticed that something was wrong and pulled Chase back, a fight would have broken out.

This guy was clearly trying to ruin the wedding and even hoping that Chase would hit him, to use as an excuse to get Chase thrown into the police station.

Jessamine’s mother’s face darkened instantly.

If it had been any other time, she would have stormed away upon encountering this situation. However, today, especially after hearing about Peter’s situation, and that even the manager of Stone Lake Stoneworks Company arrived in a car, she couldn’t help but show a mocking smile. At this moment, everyone saw many cars arriving outside, and some people were already getting out of them.

Jessamine’s mother smiled when she saw the manager walking beside Peter, and said: "I think you should really ask your manager and see if he agrees. Look, your manager should be here, too."
