Chapter 1399: Chapter 1399 Choice_1

After some reflection, Peter Brown had made a new choice. He had always been in the spotlight, doing things that were earth-shattering. Since this assessment was about Heavenly Dao Comprehension and not about fighting, it would be better to choose the role of a minor character.

There was an existence of his own on various spatial dimensions, something Peter had known for a long time. This time, he definitely wouldn’t use any formidable means to develop; he just wanted to seriously temper his own mentality and gain a deeper understanding of the will of the Heavenly Dao.

Of course, Peter was clear in his heart that if he truly wanted to comprehend such Heavenly Dao, he would have to enter officialdom, which was the only place where one could see everything clearly.

After making some choices, Peter thought of the officialdom on Earth. Without strong resilience, it was uncertain whether he could make any progress in Earth’s officialdom.

Indeed, choosing an officialdom similar to Earth’s was a good idea.

With such a choice, a path indeed appeared in Peter’s Immortal world.

Heading towards this path, could he really merge into one of his bodies?

No matter, just go!

Wrapping his consciousness completely with Dao affinity, faith, and the energy of kindness, and after enveloping all his energies with these forces, Peter believed that even if he went to any spatial domain, he would not encounter any problems.

Go!

Peter resolutely headed towards that path.

Peter knew in his heart that his destination this time was entirely different from the Mu brothers—it was a complete fusion of identities.

The faster he walked, the more he felt an eroding energy.

This time Peter discovered an eroding energy present, much like when entering the mortal world from a transitional layer.

The same energy existed now.

The will of the Heavenly Dao kept eroding Peter’s energy and consciousness.

Peter found his energy rapidly depleting and dissipating.

Just as Peter distinctly felt his energy being worn away, he saw a light ahead and then stepped out.

However, what puzzled Peter was that he hadn’t truly stepped out but began a kind of fusion with another consciousness.

Were two different dimensional bodies merging?

Soon, Peter found himself in a shabby office.

Upon opening his eyes, Peter checked his entire body and realized that in addition to his consciousness, another consciousness had been incorporated. His immense energy had completely vanished, and his current condition was that of a mortal.

However, fortunately, Peter found that his body had become indestructible, probably even bullets could no longer kill him.

The consciousness remained, the various energies were gone, but all the knowledge remained!

This gave Peter quite a relief; he had been most worried about losing his consciousness.

It was then that Peter began to assess the current condition of this body. Glancing over, he was wearing an old suit, wrinkled at that, and his leather shoes were covered in mud, as if he had just returned from the countryside. Observing the office, Peter noted the absence of other people.

What kind of identity was this exactly?

Peter realized that he was truly in dire straits; it looked as though he had just started working not a few days ago.

"Peter Brown, hurry up and go to the meeting. Today, the town is appointing village contacts, and you’re likely to be assigned to Fruitful Village. I’m telling you, why can’t you change your temper a bit? You’ve offended the Town Chief, and you think they will let you off easy?"

A middle-aged woman came in and started speaking to Peter.

It was then Peter sorted out the incorporated consciousness; he had just graduated from Provincial University and gotten a job in the town when he offended the Town Chief over a work incident. The Town Chief’s purpose now was to use the appointment of a Liaison to send Peter to the poorest mountain village.

He was really in a miserable situation!

The identity within the consciousness was planning to stand up to a confrontation and leave, regardless of losing the job.

Peter shook his head; now that he had arrived, even if it were through fire and sword, he had to forge ahead—how could he possibly leave?

Thinking this, Peter smiled at the middle-aged woman and said, "Mr. Lee, it’s fine. What harm is there for me to go to Fruitful Village? Perhaps I may even bring about its development."

After taking another look at Peter, the middle-aged woman laughed and said, "Fruitful Village is not an easy place to develop. Several leaders have been assigned to help but failed to improve it; it’s always been the county’s poorest village. The challenge is too great for you. You should know that if there is a problem with the assessment, the town will use it against you."

This woman was really nice, and she was still concerned about him.

Peter nodded slightly and said, "Then let’s just see."

Although Peter intended to comprehend the Heavenly Dao by entering this world, he had not anticipated that this identity would be so tragically poor.

However, realizing that this identity’s parents overlapped with his own and even the family conditions were the same, Peter’s mood became very good.

It had been a long time since he last felt that kind of familial affection.

Following Mr. Lee into the meeting room, Peter saw that it was already full of people—all the Village Cadres had arrived.

Still, Peter noticed that the way everyone looked at him was too peculiar, with some Village Cadres even carrying a mocking tone.

The trials of the Heavenly Dao were truly everywhere. Starting from now, he would need to interact with people.

After sitting down, Peter didn’t concern himself with their opinions but seriously analyzed the situation at hand.

This challenge was great; having offended the Town Chief, it would be even harder to achieve results. Even if successful, the achievements might be suppressed or even taken by others. The end was bound to be rough handling.

Very well, the greater the difficulty, the stronger his conviction.

Having understood these things, Peter simply sat there considering his next direction for development.

How poor could Fruitful Village be? He had never had the mindset to enjoy luxury, so he might as well contend with them.

Soon, some town leaders strode into the venue, and many sat on the stage.

Using the incorporated consciousness, Peter recognized the leaders seated above one by one. He understood that the Heavenly Dao Comprehension had already begun; he just didn’t know how far he could go in this comprehension.
