Chapter 112: Everyone was Surprised Again
Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Everyone was Surprised Again
Peter Brown’s car was obviously not large enough to fit so many people. When everyone saw the high-end car that Peter Brown arrived in from the hospital, they were a little stunned.
"We don’t need a car, we can just walk home," John Morris said, ready to carry the old lady in the stretcher.
"It’s okay, I can walk myself," she replied.
Seeing this situation, Peter Brown quickly proposed, "Let’s all find a place to rest and have something to eat. I’ll make a call to arrange for a car to take us home."
Liza Smith also supported his suggestion, "Yes, what Peter said makes sense. We have been busy for such a long time, and we have not eaten anything. Let’s find a restaurant to eat first and then go home. It’s a long journey to town for mom and dad. They should have a little break before we head back."
"No, we have a lot of things to do at home," someone protested.
Liza’s older brother Richard Brown hesitated for a moment.
Liza grabbed her mother by the arm and declared, "Just listen to me, this is how we’ll arrange things. We’ll eat first, then you can come to our house to rest."
Liza’s father glanced at Raven Walter and responded, "Your family is also struggling. Let’s forget about it."
They all knew the situation in Raven Walter’s family. If anyone was poorer, it was definitely Liza Smith’s family.
Upon hearing this, Liza laughed and said, "That was the past. Mom, Dad, you haven’t been to our house in a while. Come and see, our house has completely changed."
Raven Walter was also a bit smug, saying, "Let’s have a meal together and then come and visit our home."
Under their persuasion, everyone was ushered into a restaurant that seemed quite upscale.
Liza deliberately ordered a lot of nice dishes to show off in front of her family.
Seeing so many dishes being ordered, Liza’s younger sister, Daisy Smith, quickly said, "Sister, no need to order so much, we can’t finish it all."
With a wave of her hand, Liza replied, "Feel free to eat, today I’m treating everyone."
"Liza, we all know the situation in your family. Don’t waste your money," her father advised.
Although he was happy about Liza’s generosity, he still had to interject.
Raven Walter laughed and said, "Our family’s situation has improved now. You will see it for yourself when you come to our house. Don’t worry."
As Peter Brown walked in, he said, "I’ve made the call, a car will be here soon. Relax, let’s eat and wait."
"Who did you call?" Liza asked.
"I called Reuben Taylor. He said he would arrange a few cars to come. Don’t worry, it’s all good."
Liza was a little smug when she explained to her mother, "Mom, Peter’s friend is Mayor Taylor’s son. Don’t worry, with his arrangements everything will be fine."
Seeing his mother’s smug cues in conversation, Peter found it amusing. His mother was not usually ostentatious, but speaking like this in front of family today must be due to past suppression.
Looking at the Browns, everyone was staring wide-eyed at Liza at the mention of Mayor Taylor’s son.
"Sister, who did you say? The son of the Mayor?" Sahil Brown, couldn’t help but ask.
"Yes, that’s right."
Now everyone looked at Peter Brown with an added sense of curiosity. They all knew about Peter going to prison. Even if it was disclosed, it would be difficult to mix up the hardship when he got out. But now it seemed like he had changed completely after he was released; he could cure illnesses and mingle with important figures. They were very confused about Peter’s situation.
At this point, the dishes started to come out one by one. Everyone saw that the table was full of exquisite dishes that were rare even during festive seasons. Because they were busy with the old lady’s illness, they hadn’t eaten since last night and were hungry today.
Hearing someone’s stomach growling, Peter Brown quickly said, "Everyone, eat. We’ve all been busy for a while."
With a sigh, the old man said, "Alright, let’s eat. You guys have been running around for the old lady’s illness for the past few days. Now that everything is alright, let’s get some cheer up."
Peter had brought a can of wine from his car and said, "We have good wine here, made in our factory. Let everyone have a taste."
"Your family makes wine now?"
This comment caught everyone’s attention, and Sahil, looking at the wine, asked confusedly.
As Peter opened the wine can and poured out the wine, Raven Walter proudly said, "Peter acquired the recipe. It’s really good. One can of such wine can sell for one hundred thousand now, and it’s all ordered by rich bosses."
One hundred thousand!
Now, the Browns were really stunned, completely unaware of the change in Raven Walter’s family.
Though they were relatives, they lived deep in the mountains and were cut off from the outside world. Naturally, they had less contact with Liza’s family. She was eager to make something of herself before telling her family about her progress. Therefore, they were not informed about the changes that had occurred in their household within the less than a year.
To be precise, it was only a few months.
In fact, sometimes, Raven Walter and his woman feel as if they are dreaming.
The meal left the Browns full of questions. As they ate, they asked about the changes in Raven Walter’s family, and the more they heard, the more surprised they became.
All of these changes were driven by the young man who was continuously serving everyone. They all had a feeling of disbelief.
The old lady looked towards Peter Brown and said, "Peter is doing great, really great!"
She was well aware of her own condition. She had already resigned herself to not surviving this time, but her grandson who had been in prison cured her with a few silver needles and a prescription. It was indeed worth her emotion.
The people from the Brown family were looking at Peter Brown with a sense of mystery. They were curious about what had happened to Peter’s family in the last few months.
"This wine is too good!"
John Morris, a wine enthusiast, didn’t stop after taking a sip. He commented on the taste after a while.
The old man drank more and more, looking at Raven Walter and asked, "Is this wine really one hundred thousand per can?"
Peter replied, "Yes, Peter is setting up a big winery. When the time comes, we might even sell it overseas. You guys don’t know, the general manager Peter hired is a big shot who returned from abroad."
"One hundred thousand! One hundred thousand!" Holding the wine glass, the old man’s hands started to shake.
"Dad, don’t shake. The wine you’re spilling is worth thousands!" John Morris joked.
If he didn’t say anything, the old man’s hands might have been steadier. As soon as he mentioned it, the old man’s hands shook even more, spilling some of the wine.
Seeing the spilled wine, the old man got lost in his thoughts.
Seeing this situation, Peter knew he couldn’t say any more. The old man seemed to be a bit shocked. He downplayed it and said, "Don’t listen to them. It’s just some worthless herbal medicine, it’s not worth much money. It’s just that the price is high because people need it. Grandpa, I’ll give you a few cans when it’s ready."
Hearing these words, the old man finally put down his wine glass and said, "Good! Good!"
