Chapter 1113: Chapter 113: Brewing Medicine_1

After dinner, everyone dispersed, and Peter Brown walked alongside Harlan Swift.

"Peter, you have to be careful. Even though you’re officially in your position now, there are still many people eyeing your job. One small misstep and you could lose it. I heard that a guy from the logistics department named Wyatt was the one behind the scheme against you last time. He wanted to get the job for someone named Storm Williams. You really need to be on your guard; Wyatt might not be a leader, but he’s well-connected amongst the personnel."

So that was the situation!

It was only now that Peter understood who had been scheming against him last time.

"I’ll be careful, thanks a lot."

"What’s there to thank? I’m only helping because I like you. If it were someone else, I wouldn’t have bothered."

Peter asked, "How confident are you about the exam preparation?"

Shaking his head, Harlan Swift said, "Whether I’m confident or not, I have to give it my all. My position is also coveted by too many. You know how things work in the Immortal Realm; no matter how powerful we were in the Lower Realm, we have to start all over again here."

"Most of those who come out from the Cultivator aren’t doing well, right?"

"Exactly. If people don’t follow the path of officialdom, no matter how skilled they are, even if they get rich from business, those with Power can snatch away their business anytime. There are too many such examples. Some people have built up big businesses, but then an official with influence would take over the whole business at a very low price, and there’s nowhere to appeal. Without a strong backer, nobody cares about you. Once you have a backer, you can enjoy all the benefits."

Seeing Harlan Swift’s lament, Peter made up his mind. If he could make something of himself, he would definitely give Harlan a hand.

Harlan had to leave for something else, so Peter thought for a bit and didn’t return to the Sanitation Section, but went straight to his rented place.

Peter had also decided that as long as his situation improved, he would avoid staying at the Sanitation Section as much as possible. After all, it was more convenient to work from outside.

Of course, Peter discovered some issues in himself through interaction with others. The matter of hastily making a supply Covenant was a bit reckless; he shouldn’t have revealed his identity so readily.

But the deed was done, and Peter had no regrets. Alchemy was something he had mastered alone. Not just anyone could do it, and the risk of leaks wasn’t significant. Moreover, if someone influential wanted it, as long as the price was right, selling the divine liquid was no problem. If he passed the civil servants’ examination, he could even use it to negotiate for an official position.

Walking along, he entered the courtyard.

Selecting, boiling water, adding ingredients...

This time, Peter was working with Five Pots simultaneously.

As he was very adept at this task, Peter wasn’t worried that anything would go wrong with making all five at once.

This time he had prepared an abundance of vegetables, and even after boiling five pots, there were still many left.

Time passed, and after Three Hours, the medicine from all five pots was ready.

Filling Five bottles with the liquid, Peter felt that this task was not an easy one.

Looking at the Five bottles of medicine, Peter knew that 10,000 crystal coins were on their way to him, and this was genuinely a cause for happiness.

It was then that Peter remembered he had forgotten to buy a big bath tub and planned to buy one Tomorrow.

After some thought, Peter took one bottle back to the Sanitation Section, filled the tub with water, poured the divine liquid into it and soaked in it once more.

While soaking, Peter also contemplated his next steps. Money was coming soon; there were no issues there. The next thing to focus on was the Examination: time waits for no one! Peter was unsure if anyone was still scheming against his position, and a sense of urgency made him worried. He needed to pass the civil servant exam as quickly as possible to feel more secure.

Strong Divine Liquid!

Peter thought of an ingredient from his alchemy, a medicine that could strengthen Divine Sense Energy. If he could concoct such a potion, it would be of great assistance to his learning.

Considering carefully the needed vegetable leaves, Peter fully immersed himself into Cultivation.

When he got up the next day, although he emerged from the water, Peter did not feel the usual discomfort of being soaked for too long. He felt in excellent spirits.

Upon receiving the robots, Peter quickly checked them out.

After examining them, Peter’s expression changed as he noticed a serious error in the programming of one of the robots. If such a robot were used for cleaning, it might cause serious trouble.

Glancing at the warehouse manager who was also sneakily watching him, Peter said, "This robot needs to be replaced."

Without saying much else, Peter simply pointed to the problematic robot and made the request.

"What’s wrong? You’ve already taken it out."

"I haven’t left this gate yet, and according to regulations, I can still exchange it."

Peter did not expose the issue with the robot.

"No more, these are the only ten robots. Take it or leave it."

Hearing this, Peter looked at the warehouse manager and said, "According to the rules, if there’s an issue with the machine, am I allowed to have a professional check it to determine the problem?"

"Fine, go inside and change it yourself."

The warehouse manager’s expression shifted, displaying impatience.

Peter didn’t say another word. He went inside, checked again, and came out with another functioning robot.

Watching Peter’s departing figure, the warehouse manager’s expression went through a series of changes. He picked up a Communication Device and said, "He discovered the problem himself during inspection. There was nothing I could do."

After speaking for a bit more, he ended the call.

At this moment, Peter was clear as a mirror in his heart—Today’s incident was no accident. If he hadn’t been careful with the robot programming, letting such a robot operate could have resulted in destructive consequences.

It seemed that there were indeed many targeting him!

Peter did not make a big fuss about this incident. He had his reasons. Making a scene would likely have gotten the warehouse manager fired, but that wouldn’t particularly benefit Peter. He decided it was best to just let it go.

Could it be that person causing trouble again?

Peter didn’t know who was targeting him this time. It could be the same person as before, or it was more likely someone else leveraging their Power to seize his position.
