Chapter 1107: Chapter 1107: Improved Treatment_1

Peter Brown had just returned the robots to the warehouse when he saw that Harlan Swift had been waiting for him.

"Dude, awesome job!"

Seeing the young man waiting there, Peter knew that he was aware of today’s events and said with a smile, "You know too?"

"Hehe, I won’t lie to you, I guessed it during dinner, so I reminded you a bit. I didn’t expect you to really make it through this challenge. From now on, you’re officially a full-time employee, congratulations!"

"I should be thanking you. If you hadn’t reminded me in time, I wouldn’t have even known about these things."

"Don’t thank me, we all come out of the Cultivator; I only gave you a heads-up. Whether you could make it past that challenge was something I didn’t know, but it turns out you have such a strong learning ability. Do you still retain some Divine Sense?"

"I feel like I retained a bit."

Peter tentatively replied.

"I knew it must be something like that; you don’t know, some people who come out of the Cultivator retain a bit of Divine Sense. Such people might be able to practice magic. It’s truly great that you have such an ability; at least you’ll go further than the rest of us."

So there really were people who retained some Divine Sense!

Peter had been worried someone might discover his abnormal learning ability was due to possessing Divine Sense and decide to study him. Now that he heard there were others like him, he felt much more at ease.

"Come on, I’ll take you out for a stroll; you probably haven’t been outside yet."

Peter didn’t have anything else to do, so he agreed.

"Right, the director said that from now on, I’m an official full-time worker, but I’m not sure how an official full-time job is different from a regular temporary job?"

Harlan Swift’s eyes widened as he looked at Peter and exclaimed in surprise, "You got a permanent position on your first day?"

"What, that doesn’t happen?"

Harlan Swift speechlessly said, "Do you think getting a permanent position is that easy? It has to be approved by the agency’s leadership. Did the leadership approve you?"

"I don’t know, but after I finished cleaning today, an agency leader declared that floor would be handed over to me from now on."

Harlan Swift sighed, "I don’t even know what to say. This is a sign of approval from the leadership. You know, recently our workers have been criticized a lot while cleaning the agency’s buildings. It’s significant for the Sanitation Section that you were recognized. No wonder!"

Peter was shaking his head too. It was just a cleaner’s position; they made it seem like such a big deal.

Thinking about his situation back on Earth and comparing it to here, Peter felt even more that he had fallen to the lower classes. If he didn’t climb up quickly, he’d end up sinking to the bottom, just like so many other Cultivators.

"Let’s go; I’ll take you to handle the formalities for becoming a full-timer. This isn’t a small matter."

Harlan Swift was an enthusiastic person and took Peter to an office.

"Here for the paperwork?" Lana Wilson looked at Peter; she was curious after receiving the notification and had not expected Peter to become a full-timer so quickly.

Harlan Swift chuckled, "Isn’t Peter Brown amazing? Becoming a full-timer on the first day, that’s rare in our Sanitation Section. Some people who wanted his position must be stunned!"

Lana Wilson laughed and said, "I didn’t expect it, either. Peter, it seems you’ve retained quite a lot of Divine Sense. If The Higher-Ups find out, with your abilities, you won’t be in the Sanitation Section for very long. Congratulations."

Peter replied, "I didn’t expect to have retained some Divine Sense Energy, but learning hasn’t been too difficult."

"Right, you’re now an official full-time worker, which is of course different from being a temporary worker. The provisions you received before were for temporary workers, so we need to make some changes."

There were several people in the office. After Peter completed the paperwork, his Identity Card was taken for reconfiguration.

After a while, Lana Wilson handed an activated Crystal Card to Peter, "This is your Crystal Card; your income will be credited to this card from now on. Starting today, your monthly income will be 2,000 Crystal Coins."

"Do temporary workers not receive Crystal Coins?" Peter only now realized a difference.

Harlan Swift laughed, "Temporary workers are provided with food and housing, but well, their monthly income is only about a hundred Crystal Coins, which is paid out directly. Now that you’re a full-time worker, simply giving out Crystal Coins wouldn’t be right. It’s better to credit them to your Crystal Card."

Only then did Peter understand.

Lana Wilson handed over a tiny operator to Peter, "As an official employee, you can now have a room to yourself. This is your room. Go bind it, and from then on, you can just use facial verification to enter."

A room to oneself!

Peter knew that his prior room had been a communal dormitory, but now he presumably would not be living communally. Now, he truly had his own place of residence.

The meal card was also re-issued with even more Crystal Coins loaded onto it, allowing for more lavish meals.

Peter hadn’t always paid much attention to money, but now it was a matter he couldn’t ignore. After all, the amount of money was too critical for the path of his Cultivation; he needed to enhance his income as fast as possible.

2,000 Crystal Coins!

Peter mulled over the money and felt it wouldn’t be enough. The situation here turned out to be not that different from Earth; without money, one couldn’t get far.

After they left the office having completed the procedures, Harlan Swift guided Peter to a very nice residential compound.

"This is a special residential area built for civil servants, including some workers’ housing. I also live here; we’ll be neighbors from now on." Harlan Swift adeptly led Peter to his room and helped him with all sorts of entry validations.

After finishing up with that, Peter approached the door with his face and indeed, it automatically opened for him.

Such high technology!

Once Peter entered and looked around, he felt even more amazed. There was an additional Cultivation Room inside, and everything seemed to be several scales higher than in the temporary worker’s room.

"Peter, what you need to do now is keep this job. Don’t think that just because you’re a full-timer, no one is eyeing your position. Anyway, positions at the agency are always coveted by many."

Peter nodded and said, "I understand, I never thought even living here would be so difficult!"

Harlan Swift continued, "It’s not just about survival; it’s also about Cultivation. You need to save money to buy body refinement techniques. A basic Body Refining Secret alone costs one hundred thousand Crystal Coins."

"One hundred thousand!"

"Yes, the market price changes every day, and it’s gone up again!"
