Chapter 1101: Chapter 111 The Ascending Scheme Part 1
Peter Brown felt himself moving ceaselessly within a data stream, surrounded by various points of light. Time trickled by, he had no idea how long had passed when suddenly a portal appeared in front of him.
As he emerged from the portal, Peter Brown distinctly felt as if he had plunged into a vast pool.
A massive influx of energy poured into Peter Brown’s body, rapidly replenishing his depleted Immortal power.
Giant waves of vitality and energy filled his being.
Could this really be the Immortal Realm?
However, what puzzled Peter Brown was that the energy entering his body seemed only to transform him physically and did not accumulate below the navel; that area remained empty.
But it wasn’t all like this; Peter noticed that the Ruyi Furnace was greedily absorbing the incoming energy, like something that could never be satisfied, capable of swallowing any amount of power.
When he inspected his body, Peter Brown could clearly feel that it had changed; it was solid and extremely strong.
While Peter Brown was contemplating his situation, he felt a powerful confining force envelop him, and then someone grabbed him and set him down on the ground.
Only then did Peter Brown see a young-looking man before him. The man glanced at Peter Brown and said to someone behind him, "Take him away."
A burly man stepped forward and said to Peter Brown, "Come with me."
"What is this place?" Peter couldn’t help but ask.
"The Immortal Realm you know."
Immortal Realm?
Despite his observations, Peter Brown felt something was amiss, but the burly man’s strength was overwhelming. With a mere gesture, Peter Brown was stripped of any power to resist and, full of confusion, followed the man out.
As someone who understood the score, Peter knew it was futile to resist without understanding the situation.
After they emerged, the burly man escorted Peter into a flying vehicle and they set off into the distance.
Along the way, Peter Brown was shocked to discover that everything here was so advanced; skyscrapers soared above, and the streets were bustling with activity—every sight bore the semblance of a modern city.
Since the burly man didn’t speak, Peter could only silently observe everything before him.
Once the flying vehicle entered the city, it stopped in front of a tall building.
With a strong confining force still on him, Peter Brown was unable to resist. He was amazed at the methods of the people in this place.
"Follow me," the burly man said to Peter Brown, ever monosyllabic.
After entering the building with the burly man, Peter Brown saw that it was teeming with people.
While waiting in line, it was quickly the burly man’s turn. He approached a woman staffing the desk and said, "Our Cultivator has produced a top-grade individual capable of achieving immortality."
At that moment, the woman handed the burly man a small device, which he strapped onto Peter Brown’s wrist.
Looking at her monitor, the woman said, "One thousand Crystal Coins."
The burly man’s face broke into a smile and said, "Deal."
Watching the transaction, Peter’s understanding dawned: The burly man’s party had created him using that Cultivator—it was human trafficking!
Speechless!
Peter Brown couldn’t believe that achieving immortality turned out to be such an outcome. If everyone knew becoming immortal was like this, he couldn’t imagine how many would still aspire to it.
With the burly man gone, Peter Brown was taken to a place crowded with too many people.
Then, a middle-aged man walked in, his gaze sweeping over everyone before he spoke, "You all have many questions, and that’s normal; I understand. Now, as your guide, it’s my duty to explain the situation to you."
At this, everyone looked towards the middle-aged man.
When Peter Brown tried to use his Divine Sense for Investigation, he realized that he couldn’t employ it, nor could he use the Immortal power within his body.
"This Star Planet is called Soul Ascendance Star, and it’s immense, beyond your imagination. You are the Human Clan, created by a type of Cultivator we invented. The primary purpose for your creation is labor, that’s right, labor, as we require a vast workforce for various jobs."
"I am someone who ascended from the Lower Realm, and who are you people?" An elderly man shouted out indignantly at this point.
"Joke, what ascending. Let me tell you, this is the Phantom Realm. Everything there is illusion, merely seeds. When you begin Cultivation, those seeds germinate. As the Cultivation continues, the human body grows without cessation. Everything has been set by us. When you ascend, that’s when you are fully matured. Do you understand now?"
Everyone there was dumbfounded, never expecting such an outcome.
"What’s our status here?" A woman asked.
As Peter Brown looked over at her, he saw an air of refinement about her, a person likely generated from some Cultivator.
"Good question. Let me tell you about your benefits. We are a Federal country, and we treat every Cultivator with the same civil rights. That is, you are equal to us. However, there is a prerequisite. After all, there was effort and Wealth invested in your creation, and these costs need to be covered. We will provide you with a job, and you must work in that position for at least one Year to compensate. Only after one year will you become true citizens, with all the associated rights."
"Are we being treated as slaves?" someone asked.
Shaking his head, the middle-aged man said, "You’re mistaken, we won’t treat you like ordinary people. We follow the principle of voluntariness. You can also choose your line of work, and your job is no different from that of regular citizens."
"Why are our abilities restricted?" someone asked, voicing the question Peter Brown also had in mind.
With a slight smile, the middle-aged man said, "You have been misled. That was an illusion. In the illusion, you were omnipotent. Look at me, even now I haven’t been able to guide Qi into my body, let alone start Cultivation. You’re overthinking it. Of course, you’re people born from Cultivation, your physical condition is excellent, and every bodily function is that of a real human body, no different from ours. You even have an advantage in terms of Cultivation. Well, you’ll gradually understand more about this place. For now, I will present the various job positions, which we will initially assign. If you’re unsatisfied, you may submit a request to change jobs after one week."
"How can this be?" The people immediately began to discuss amongst themselves.
