Chapter 1094: Chapter 194 The Truth is Cruel_1

"What do you make of this world?" The old man took a sip of tea and suddenly asked such a question.

What do I make of this world?

Peter Brown suddenly found himself at a loss for an answer and looked towards the old man, "As far as I know, there is a mortal world, then a lower cultivation realm, and beyond that, the Cultivation World. If we go even higher, I guess there might be an Immortal Realm, right?"

After hearing Peter’s narrative, the old man pointed at him and asked, "What do you make of yourself?"

This question puzzled Peter even more. He hesitated, "What do you mean, ’What do you make of yourself’?"

Pointing at the transparent glass, the old man asked, "What do you make of the tea leaves inside?"

Peter looked at the floating tea, having no idea what the old man really meant.

"I don’t understand."

"Exactly, many things are beyond the understanding of ordinary people. Because they cannot comprehend, many live in a world of dreams."

All Peter could do now was to look back at the old man, overwhelmed with confusion by what the old man was saying.

The old man’s Divine Sense swept quickly across the Earth, and then he exclaimed with a "hmph", "Interesting, very interesting!"

"What interesting thing did you see, senior?"

As the old man extended his hand, he suddenly plucked a laptop from the Earth.

Peter thought he was performing some kind of magic, but to his surprise, it was just a laptop.

"Why isn’t it working?" the old man wondered.

Peter glanced at it and said, "It must be because the signal is gone. I have a computer here that can connect to the internet. What do you want to do with it?" Taking out his own laptop.

After Peter had set it up, the old man inquired, "What is this stuff on here?"

Peter saw the old man’s computer displaying a game and smiled, "That’s a game from Earth." He then opened up a cultivation-related game on his own laptop.

The old man looked at the computer for a while and, with a smile, said, "Dream within a dream, illusion within an illusion, such is the world!"

Peter silently watched the old man, still clueless about what exactly he was getting at.

While Peter was speculating, the old man glanced around with a smile and said, "See that? The scenery inside is quite similar to this starry sky outside."

"It’s just a game scene inside."

"Haven’t you understood yet? We watch the game, while those outside are watching us."

The old man suddenly raised his voice to Peter with those words.

Peter’s mind was jolted, and he looked at the old man, feeling a bit of understanding. However, he was somewhat afraid to entertain the thought.

Taking another sip of tea, the old man asked, "Do you understand now?"

Peter shook his head, "I still don’t understand."

"Let me tell you the truth. The scene we are in is a fictional place, to those outside we are nothing but data."

Peter felt completely bewildered, unable to believe in such a notion, and he looked at the old man, "That can’t be. Everything feels so real."

The old man shook his head and said, "Indeed, it might be much more real compared to your games. But what is fictional remains fictional, that is certain. Of course, there is something special about it. This world also has a possibility of escape, that is, Breaking the Mirror and Coming Out. You have now reached that standard!"

Is that what Breaking the Mirror is about?

Peter questioned, "I’m not in the Immortal Realm yet, am I?"

With a smile, the old man pointed at the teacup, "If we were inside this cup, the only way to get out would be to jump out of it. And the only means to jump out is to enter the Immortal Realm. Once you enter the Immortal Realm, you qualify to jump out."

Looking at the cup and then at the world outside the cup, Peter went silent. He realized that after all the effort, he was just entering another cycle.

Seeing Peter’s reaction, the old man said, "Aren’t you wondering what the deal is with the Vertical Eye People? Let me tell you, they are merely creatures made of data from another scenario. There’s a rule set here: if there’s an issue with your core, you’ll be erased, just like this planet you call Earth. No matter how powerful your cultivation might be, if Earth is destroyed, you’ll be erased, too."

Now Peter was truly shocked. He thought he was saving Earth, but it turned out he was actually saving himself—an idea that had never crossed his mind.

"Who exactly are you?" Peter looked at the old man and asked.

With a slight smile, the old man replied, "Seeing the content in your game, consider me a guide set up by this world. I am also data, but a higher existence within it. When a piece of data evolves and reaches the Immortal Realm, I appear to guide them out of this world."

Peter now truly didn’t understand the old man’s words, and as he gazed at him, he felt as if he was being coaxed, yet he could not detect any deceit on the old man’s face.

Could this really be true?

Peter sat there, stunned.

"With the immortal formation here, Earth will be safe. Don’t worry about the Vertical Eye People destroying Earth. According to the rules, since you have reached the Immortal Realm, you are actually at the level to leave this world. You will have a real body and become a true member of the Human Clan."

Curious, Peter asked, "To become a true member of the Human Clan means to be a real person?"

"That’s right, a real Human Clan member is different from data. They have a real body, capable of continuous development, not like the humans of the Phantom Realm. They are the ones who truly awaken."

The more Peter listened, the more incredulous he found it all.

"Believe it or not, you don’t have much time left. Those who reach this level must leave the Phantom Realm, and you will have a new life."

"But what about my family, everything I have here? What will happen to them?"

"Don’t you die and get reincarnated in the Phantom Realm where you are? If you die and get reincarnated, can you still look after your family?"

Peter shook his head, "I still don’t believe it."

"Whether you believe it or not, in ten days you are leaving this realm. Then you’ll know."

"If I leave, can I still help my family?" Peter asked.

"You can when you truly become immortal!" After the old man spoke, his figure and everything else around began to fade and then disappeared.
