While Peter Brown was pondering over this matter, he saw that the five Mahayana-stage powerhouses were not maintainers but directly leapt onto the high stage and sat down cross-legged around Annabelle Smith.

The spectators were all shocked.

At this moment, Peter was also inwardly startled, realizing that indeed five Mahayana-stage cultivators intended to help Annabelle Smith in jointly resisting the Heavenly Disaster.

If it’s a common Heavenly Tribulation, helping would increase its power, but for those in the Tribulation Crossing Period facing the Mahayana Tribulation, Heavenly Tribulation has its limits. It can only reach the Immortal Realm at most, so, if five Mahayana-stage cultivators join forces, such Heavenly Tribulation will become negligible."

"Correct, the highest level in the Cultivation World is the Immortal Realm, after passing which one will ascend no matter what."

At this moment, Peter also looked towards Kenji Langton and the others, never expecting that they had been in the Mahayana stage for nearly a century.

Then, Peter heard murmurs of discussion from all around.

After all, most of the people in this area were old men, all of whom knew many insider details, and their discussions revealed too much information.

After listening for a while, Peter managed to clarify some situations: the inability of the Tribulation Association’s Mahayana-stage cultivators to open Heaven’s Gate, their lifespan drawing to a close, if they did not ascend they would die. In such a situation, they had created an act of Joint Resistance to Heavenly Tribulation.

Peter understood their method was to incite the Heavenly Tribulation to its strongest. When the Heavenly Tribulation reached its peak, Heaven’s Gate would open, and a substantial amount of Tribulation Lightning would instantly descend. With their Mahayana-stage means, they could blast apart the deluge of Tribulation Lightning, and then ascend during the brief time before Heaven’s Gate closed.

Learning of such a method, Peter’s heart was also deeply shaken; he had never imagined such a method existed.

Knowing that the Tribulation Association’s Mahayana masters could not open Heaven’s Gate, Peter understood the reason better than anyone. They had covertly seized so many people’s Spiritual Roots, an utterly immoral act. Would the Heavenly Dao ignore their immorality? It was likely that they practically had no Kindness energy left in their bodies.

The presence of Kindness energy, Peter estimated, was the key to the opening of Heaven’s Gate!

At this point, Peter could no longer worry about being discovered and sent his Divine Sense, wrapped in the package of Dao affinity, to probe into the body of one of the individuals.

After a quick probe, Peter further confirmed his suspicions.

One of the Mahayana masters sitting cross-legged looked around suspiciously; he felt as if his whole body had just been scanned, but he wasn’t quite sure.

It must be excitement causing his imagination to run wild!

The Mahayana master thought for a moment and stopped pondering the thought, instead focusing all his mind and spirit on preparing for the Heavenly Tribulation.

"Let’s focus, everyone. Today is crucial for us—whether we can ascend depends on this time," Kenji Langton instructed them before closing his eyes and sitting still.

The other Mahayana masters also collected their emotions and began meditating with their eyes closed.

Indeed, there was no Kindness energy left!

By now, Peter had further confirmed his speculation; after probing just now, he had investigated the energy conditions within the Mahayana-stage cultivator’s body.

There was no Kindness energy, not only that, there was a substantial presence of Evil Karma.

Evil Karma, according to Peter’s understanding, was an energy completely antagonistic to Kindness energy, usually obtained by committing numerous evil deeds.

Mahayana-stage individuals should be continuously acquiring Immortal power and then, after amassing a certain amount of it, would be able to ascend. However, it was obvious that the five of them had far too much Evil Karma in their bodies. With so much Evil Karma, how could Heaven’s Gate possibly open for them?

After thinking for a while, Peter also figured out the plans of these Mahayana masters. With their association’s power, they should completely understand the reason, but even if they stopped the evil acts of seizing Spiritual Roots, as long as the association did so, Evil Karma would accrue upon them. Unless they dissolved the association, they would not be able to gain any Kindness energy, even if they did great charitable deeds and gained tremendous Kindness energy, it would be counteracted. Hence, they were now employing the strategy of converting their energy the moment Heaven’s Gate opened, changing Evil Karma into Immortal power, thereby achieving successful ascension.

It seemed they had well thought out this matter and might have even had some success with it!

Seeing the situation from a larger perspective, Peter even contemplated entering when they managed to open Heaven’s Gate.

However, that was merely a thought for Peter; ever since he had the ability to absorb Immortal power, he has approached it with reverence, understanding it was not something he should deal with given his current level of cultivation.
