Chapter 1828: 440: Suwen is a great beauty_2
Mandel Thompson took out his phone and snapped a photo of the banquet scene to send to Isla Astir.
"Miss Astir, hello. I’m currently chatting with high school classmates."
"Male, married."
"I just ran into Jean Beckman and another female classmate from high school, Felicity Henington, and we chatted for a bit."
"Everything is normal right now, so please don’t overthink, Miss Astir."
"If I don’t respond to WhatsApp immediately, please don’t be angry, something else might have held me up."
A moment later, Mandel Thompson sent a video to Isla Astir.
Seeing Mandel take out his phone, Jean Beckman frowned subtly.
What is Mandel doing?
Is he taking sneaky photos of her?
Even if Mandel really liked her, he wouldn’t resort to sneaking photos, would he?
Jean felt uncomfortable.
But she couldn’t just walk up to Mandel to stop him, afraid that he might capture her in her less than perfect state, so she immediately adjusted her posture, straightening her back.
Isla Astir was organizing her comic thoughts.
Just then.
The WhatsApp notification sound kept going off.
Ding-dong, ding-dong.
Who could it be?
Surely, it wasn’t the editor pressing for a draft?
Isla felt a tingling in her scalp, apprehensively picked up her phone, and saw that all the WhatsApp messages were from the same person.
Mandel Thompson.
Looking at the WhatsApp messages from Mandel, Isla couldn’t help but curl the corners of her mouth.
What was he doing?
Reporting his whereabouts?
With that thought, Isla’s heart was filled with sweetness.
"Got it, let’s talk after the banquet."
Mandel’s messages were prompt. "Are you satisfied with my report?"
This tactic was something Mandel had learned from Terrence Lentz.
Every time Terrence went somewhere, he would report back to Viola Thompson.
Although Terrence might fall short in other areas, he was a rare perfect boyfriend.
This was something Mandel needed to learn.
Isla gave a faint smile and replied,
"Not bad, keep this format for future reports."
"No problem."
Isla then sent another message, "I’m starting to work now."
"You’re busy, don’t worry about me," Mandel replied.
Isla turned off her phone.
Mandel didn’t continue to send messages either.
At that moment, Mandel suddenly spotted a very attractive pastry; he immediately took out his phone and snapped a picture to send to Isla, "Miss Astir, do you like sweets?"
She probably did.
Just like Viola.
Viola’s favorite was Milk Tea.
When Mandel found out that the pastry was a signature from an international dessert master, he turned to a nearby servant, "Please pack this for me."
He wanted Isla to try it as well.
The servant was stunned for a moment.
It was the first time he had heard a guest asking to pack a dessert to go.
But seeing that it was Mandel, the servant didn’t dare to say much more and nodded with a smile, "Of course, please wait a moment."
Quickly, the servant handed the packaged dessert to Mandel.
Mandel took it and said, "Thank you."
"You’re welcome."
Two hours later, the banquet ended.
The Summer family took Jean and personally saw Mary Perryne and Mandel Thompson out.
Mrs. Summer said with a smile, "Mary, come by and visit more often."
"Of course," Mary nodded, looking at Jean, "Jean, if you’re free, don’t forget to stop by my mother’s place."
Jean smiled back, "Of course, Auntie."
She had no intention of doing that.
Mary then said, "Then we’ll be heading off."
"Drive safely," said Mrs. Summer.
Mandel politely bid farewell to the Summer couple.
"Goodbye, Uncle and Auntie."
Jean watched as Mandel left.
Though Mandel had become more handsome and capable, his personality was still the same as before; clearly very fond of her, but never daring to look her in the eye.
Jean smiled faintly, watching Mandel, then added, "Brandon, I look forward to hearing good news from you. I hope you won’t disappoint Uncle and Auntie, and bring your girlfriend home soon."
"Sure," Mandel nodded.
After Mary and Mandel had gone, Mrs. Summer curiously turned to Jean, "Jean, does Brandon have a girlfriend?"
"I don’t know," Jean said.
But she knew, with Mandel’s hopelessly romantic nature, if she never agreed to his advances, Mandel might very well remain unmarried his whole life.
After all, she had been abroad for fifteen years, and Mandel hadn’t been involved in even a hint of romantic gossip.
He was being chaste for her.
Mrs. Summer continued, "I was just joking with his mother, saying that I should play matchmaker between you two!"
