Stuck in a Chinese novel -
Chapter 478 - 478: Do Not Read
The undead?
Ironically dead.
His subordinates?
Dead.
Pools of blood marred the entire throne room, and one single man sat on the throne that the boy had sat on some time ago with a sword in his hand and...
"No..."
The boy's strength left his body as he saw at whom the sword that the man on the throne was holding was pointed.
"Please... Kill... Me..." The woman who was at the other end of Wei Jun's sword pleaded with him to do it. To drive the sword into her heart, where it was pointed.
Wei Jun, however, completely disregarded the woman's pleas and looked at the boy, who had a horrified expression on his face.
'As expected. He's just a kid.' Wei Jun couldn't help but remark inwardly.
"Don't do it. I'll do whatever you want." The boy said in a low voice, and Wei Jun could perfectly hear his words. Wei Jun was sure that even if he was to order the boy to kill himself, he would gladly do so without hesitation.
But there was no fun in that. Wei Jun derived happiness from others' misery. It was cruel, but it was his nature, and he loved it.
Besides, ever since his encounter with the elder dragon guardian, he had come to know mercy to some extent, and right now, the true show of mercy was only one.
"Huek!"
"No!"
The woman gasped, and the boy exclaimed as the sword in Wei Jun's hands drove deeper into the woman's chest, killing her in a matter of seconds.
The boy forgot everything and ran towards the woman, holding her in his arms as he said...
"No. No. No. No."
As if he had lost someone so precious to him that he couldn't afford to register anything else. As if his world had come to an end, all he could do was sob while holding the woman's body in his arms.
"You must have held a lot of resentment for her." Wei Jun said as he stood up, close to the boy, his eyes cold as ice.
"But she didn't kill your mother, Kang Shim." Wei Jun said.
"You did."
Stop.
Everything froze as the sobbing of boy stopped. Everything stopped. Pin drop silence, there wasn't even the sound of their breaths. At last, the deathly silence was broken by just one word...
"No."
The silence resumed for a while until the boy once again said, "You're wrong. They killed her. Not me."
"Perhaps." Wei Jun said, "But deep down, you know it was you. The burden she could never get rid of. The mistake that destroyed her life forever."
"NO! You're lying!"
The boy yelled in denial, but his eyes wavered. They wavered, and following that, his voice wavered as well: "You're lying."
"Maybe." Wei Jun replied.
"But I wouldn't know for sure, would I? What would I ever get out of lying to you?"
"You know the truth better than anyone anyway. The look in her eyes whenever she would look at you. The pain in her eyes of the disappointment she had created. You were her one chance at becoming royalty, but in the end, all you were was a..."
Wei Jun knelt before the boy just as the boy had knelt before him when he tried to corrupt Wei Jun and said...
"A dud."
Those hushed words were the final nail in the coffin.
"NO!!!!"
Boom!!!
The palace crumbled. A storm of Qi, far more sinister than ever before. Everything crumbled. The city was destroyed under the relentless assault of the sinister Qi. The undead in the palace and the city were wiped out by the power of their own creator.
"Kugh!"
"Kyaaahhh!!"
At the edge of the city, still well hidden, the princess and her bodyguard held onto their dear lives with the guard at the front and the princess at the back, trying to make it out alive, but the hope thinned with each passing second.
"Your Highness! Please run away!"
The guard tried his best to hold on, but he knew he wouldn't be able to last longer, so he did what he could to make sure his master survived. Not to mention, she was the last of her lineage, so she needed to make it out alive at all costs for all of their troubles to hold any meaning.
"NO!" The princess yelled. She knew she would die anyway, so she would rather die knowing she didn't abandon her companion.
"Now is not the time to drown in sentiments, Your Highness!" The guard yelled, but the stubborn nature of a woman was fully displayed when the princess not only didn't run away, she stepped out of the protective shield of her companion as well and faced the onslaught of the massive, sinister Qi with her feeble Qi.
"NO! YOUR HIGHNESS!!!" The guard yelled and forgot everything about defending himself, jumping in front of her, taking the sinister Qi head on without any protective layer, his death seemed imminent.
All because her mistress was too stubborn to listen.
Death was close, and before that, death by corruption was even closer when suddenly...
"Heavenly demon sword art: Rupture."
A calm and collected voice, soothing to the ears but one that evoked fear into the hearts of those who heard it, fell into their ears as the Qi just vanished, split from the middle, all the way up to the source.
Tang!
Wei Jun immediately blocked the strike.
His eyes went wide. A sword strike more sophisticated and precise, more than any other he had ever seen or experienced. Only Xing Xiaomei's sword art was amazing out of all he had experienced, and it was still a few levels before this one.
"Why?" Wei Jun stopped. A whisper in his ear as he turned to look at the woman he could only describe as 'Cold'.
Was she beautiful?
Immensely so.
Was she dangerous?
Terrifyingly so.
But none of that mattered before the chill expression on her face. As if she were born in cold, lived through cold, and embraced cold. Her nature itself was of nothing but cold.
"I need to be the one to finish this." Wei Jun replied as he readied himself.
However, the woman wasn't willing to listen. She raised her sword and waved her sword in the air, attacking Wei Jun with tangible wave attacks.
Wei Jun moved his sword with all his might and managed to parry all the attacks, but the shockwave he had to endure was ginormous as well. The power that traveled through his body as his strikes came in contact with the woman's was enough to rearrange his innards.
If not for his regeneration, high stats, and Death Qi protection, Wei Jun was sure he wouldn't last three minutes against the woman. Not only was the woman ruthless in her attacks, but there was no mercy as well.
'If only those attacks weren't focused on me.'
Wei Jun would have admired the woman's nature had he not been the target of her attacks.
But...
'Why does it feel familiar?' Wei Jun couldn't help but think.
He wasn't the only one. The woman on the other side, with her long black straight hair and deep black eyes, looked at the young man before her and couldn't help but feel strange about it.
The way he was blocking her attacks was the strangest thing of all. It wasn't like he was faster than her, or stronger than her, and his technique was certainly not better than hers.
Yet, he was still expertly blocking those attacks. His eyes and senses couldn't keep up with her attacks, but it was as if those moves had been ingrained into his very soul. Only his sword was responding. As if it knew where the attack was going to go, it would move there ahead of time and block her attacks.
How was that possible? She didn't know. But she was sure of one thing. That kid had extensive experience fighting with her sword style. It was etched into his very being, the method to counter her attacks and defense.
"You... Who are you?" She asked as she stopped attacking for a few seconds.
When her ruthless attacks stopped, Wei Jun took a few deep breaths as he was just on the verge of breaking. He finally remembered where he had experienced that sword art, and he couldn't deny he was curious about that.
He also wanted to ask her who she was and how she knew something that wasn't supposed to exist in this world, but he had no time. Because...
GGAAAHHHH!!!
An animalistic roar and the storm of the sinister Qi finally ceased. What was left at the origin was nothing less than a monster.
Tall in height, dark scales on his body, pitch black eyes, and no semblance of a human whatsoever. What was left was nothing but a monster.
"Gaaaahhhh!!!"
"Kugh!"
And with its roar, came another wave of sinister Qi that even gave Wei Jun a sense of danger despite the armor of Qi on his body.
