Chapter 227: DASHA: Misty Meeting

Qi Condensation, also translated as Qi Refining or Qi Gathering, where the cultivator was starting to develop their internal energy for the first time. This was divided into the Early Stage which required the use of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians; the Middle Stage, signified by the Twelve Principal Meridians; the Late Stage where the Meridians were widened, thereby increasing the quality and quantity of Qi to a specified degree known to knowledgeable Cultivators and the Systems; and finally, the Peak, where a Cultivator tapped into the Dao. This, generally speaking, could mean many things. Most typically, it referred to the ability of summoning one’s element.

With the System, this was somewhat circumvented. Players were able to tap into an element without any training.

The Dao itself was not a concrete ideal: it largely referred to a path or the theoretical ideal of understanding the universe.

"Pure Qi is divided into Yin: darkness, earth, water, as well as Yang: light, fire, wind. Lightning is the result of the violent mixture of Yin and Yang," Dasha murmured to himself.

Here he was: cooking up Dream Meth while also expanding his laboratory. He went from location to location, never wasting a second of thought or action.

Efficiency was Dasha’s domain.

He was thinking about Cultivation, cooking up Dream Meth, and upgrading his laboratory all at the same time.

"Foundation Establishment takes years to learn and is when one’s qi has reached a certain quality and quantity. Qi becomes not just physical but detrimental: it is essential to balance Yin and Yang to not become aggressive or greedy or calm. To be able to achieve complete balance of Yin and Yang is impossible, for they say complete balance means to tap into the truest Dao."

What the "true" Dao was, nobody knew. Not even the wisest of the wisest.

"It is within human nature to be tilted one way or another, but only to a healthy degree. For Cultivators who pursue peace, balancing one’s Yin and Yang is important. But for fighters, it may be wise to choose early on. To learn Breathing Styles to amplify one’s element and power."

Dasha had not yet formally chosen an element.

"Just from my own observations, due to the System, the balancing of Yin and Yang is not as important. Even so...fire and lightning seem to my primary elements."

In the air in front of him, he drew a symbol of fire. The symbol pulsed and flew into not one but three of the open bottles. All three bottles shook and pulsed bright red until it became the pink crystals known as Dream Meth.

He kept going, never wasting a millisecond.

’Should I keep pursuing fire and lightning? Soon, I will make adjustments and upgrades to Thor’s gauntlets; my gauntlets. They were originally intended to amplify his powers, not my own. For the sake of not wasting the gauntlets, I should pursue lightning. I should play to what I have. But is that unwise given how little I knew about my elemental inclinations? According to every source in the House of Wisdom, the System makes a human compatible with all elements. Despite that, everyone has an inclination. An edge towards something, whether it be because of personality, fear, or desires. For me...’

Was lightning truly the correct choice?: It was the logical one yet was it what his heart desired?

"Dasha?"

Dasha did not look back. There was only man allowed into his lab without strict permission. "Something you need, Xavier?"

"Daughter calls for you."

***

"You called for me."

It was the first time Daughter had ever called for Dasha Pang like this. Xavier was the messenger. The messenger entered his domain while he was expanding his laboratory for larger scale production of Dream Meth. Just yesterday, he received a kilos worth of Dreamweaver’s Dust by Charles. The ex-Templar, when given a vision, was fast to work. Lucky too as the top floors, forty-one through fifty, were spawning Oneiroi, the personified entities of dreams. The quality of Dreamweaver’s Dust was second to the gods of dreams and Dasha was beginning to adjust his production accordingly.

Daughter should have known that, so why interrupt him? He was admittedly agitated as entered her room, an arm inside his gi. On the other end was Daughter, yawning and stretching her arms high in the air. She rubbed her eyes, muttering, "Dasha, you’re here. Good, good." Yawn. "I received information regarding Gate 13. I thought you might want to know."

Tomorrow on Monday, Gate 13 was going to open. How in the world did she already have information?

"One of our girls overheard Brigid and Toth in the House of Wisdom discussing it. Architects, as stringent as they can be, can be quite loose with their lips."

’The people employed at Valhalla’s Gate, the House of Wisdom, and the Heavenly Tower were all called Architects. Although, interestingly enough, he had not seen an Architect for the Heavenly Tower yet.

His mind flash-backed to the first time he arrived. He heard a voice. He heard a man calling himself Cain. Perhaps...

"There are some gates that repeat and carry over from previous games," Daughter explained. "This is one of those. In fact, this is one you should be familiar with."

"...the Silent Forest?"

A nod. Daughter crossed her legs and arms and flicked her Ankh earrings with her index finger. "The redwood of the Silent Forest is of exceptional mystical energy. Because the gate only lasts for a month, it is a very lucrative resource. But that’s only half its importance. Have you heard the rumours?"

Dasha read about the Silent Forest in Giovanni Bruno’s journals. Other than a detailed analysis on the quality of wood alongside a research partner that specialized in blacksmithing, he found nothing on the main objective. Remarks and theories were written but they were unfounded. Dasha shook his head.

"They say the creators of the Heavenly Tower specially built this gate," Daughter said. "And due to that, no one has ever completed this gate. Not even those of the Golden Generation. The will of the Heavenly Tower wishes for only the chosen. Whatever treasure is inside may be useful to our mutually agreed contract."

"You want me to figure out that which the entire history of the Heavenly Games could not?"

Daughter smiled and laid on the bed sideways, hand supporting her head "You have a head start. I hope you don’t disappoint."

Dasha closed his eyes. "It is not a matter of whether I can. I will. But I require eyes. Stories. Whispers. If hundreds of theorists before me could not figure it out there must be a reason."

"Why not ask me?" Daughter said, smiling widely.

"If you had something useful to say, you would have said it already."

"How mean." Daughter rolled over, yawning. "I’m going to sleep. Talk to Xavier. He’ll have more details. Probably."
