Strange Life of a Cat -
Chapter 352 - Chapter 352 Chapter 345 Model
Chapter 352: Chapter 345 Model Chapter 352: Chapter 345 Model After the wrap-up, the actors left one after another, each with their own work to continue. Ronald was taken back by people sent by his father and was expected to recuperate for quite a long time.
People often say that it takes a hundred days to heal bones and tendons. Though not absolute, there is certainly some truth to it.
Upon learning that Ronald had left, Charlie and the others felt much better, no longer worrying about running into the young master.
Xiao Guo didn’t rush them, only asking that Charlie and his friends return a week before Christmas. Right now, Xiao Guo is shooting “Old Cat.” According to the feedback from customers and netizens, this slice-of-life documentary is quite successful, with high online view counts and a good reputation in cat lover circles.
The documentary isn’t solely about the life spans of cats. It includes some of the “secrets” to their longevity, such as what they eat daily, how much they eat, and their activities–all hot topics among cat lovers.
Even though Xiao Guo didn’t urge them, the Jiao family missed Zheng Tan, calling every few days for the past three months to check on his condition. Now that the shooting was over, they couldn’t wait for Zheng Tan to return home.
Zheng Tan himself didn’t wish to stay there any longer, but Yang Yi mentioned there was some work that needed to be confirmed. He asked Charlie to take Zheng Tan back to Chuhua City a few days later.
Of course, during these last few days there, Charlie and his friends were free to do as they pleased. It was almost the end of the year, and they had friends and relatives asking them to bring back seafood or other local specialties, so they were quite busy.
When Charlie and his friends went out shopping, they left Zheng Tan with Kong Han, who had his own house in the city. Yang Yi had been staying at Kong Han’s place during the shooting period. Kong Han’s wife stayed in Beijing, and after wrapping up things here, Kong Han would also return to Beijing.
Now, only Kong Han, Yang Yi, and Zheng Tan were in the large house.
Just having completed filming, Kong Han was resting for a couple of days before joining the post-production work. At the moment, Yang Yi and Kong Han were discussing the film’s score and theme song.
The score had already been handed over to a professional team for production, but the theme song had yet to be decided.
Zheng Tan jumped onto the coffee table and glanced at a printed sheet listing the people involved in the music production. Among them, Zheng Tan saw a familiar name.
It included Jin’s band, and Zheng Tan didn’t expect Yang Yi to involve Jin and the band in the project.
Yang Yi and Kong Han spoke highly of Jin’s band, especially Jin, whom Yang Yi greatly admired, describing him as having “unlimited potential.”
Unnoticed, the young man who once sat dispirited, confused, and desperate at the entrance of Night Building had grown to this extent.
Perhaps every person who strikes out on their own experiences their ups and downs–like Jin, like Xue Ding, who ran extras for years and worked hard behind the scenes. Given the opportunity, they would shine brightly.
“Oh, Heitan, speaking of which, Jin and his band are pretty familiar to you, aren’t they?”
Only Yang Yi and Kong Han were there, both aware of Zheng Tan’s true identity, so they called him by his cat name rather than his stage name. As for the relationship between Jin’s band and Zheng Tan, Yang Yi had done his research. He became interested in Jin’s band because of a popular song from that year–“Cat’s Fantasy.” Later, while talking to Jin, Yang Yi learned that the band rose to fame in Chuhua City, and a cat from Chuhua University contributed to the creation of that song. In addition to the cat who inspired Jin to create the song, Jin also mentioned Zheng Tan. After further investigation, Yang Yi found Zheng Tan’s story quite extraordinary.
Yang Yi wasn’t particularly fond of cats, having undertaken the documentary filming for his grandfather’s sake, but he had learned about cats and had never seen such a capable one.
Remembering the surprise he felt when he first saw the investigation results, Yang Yi shook his head, “There’s no shortage of wonders in this world.”
Right then, Yang Yi’s phone rang. He walked out onto the balcony to take the call and then left for the airport to pick up a friend.
When Charlie and the others arrived, Yang Yi hadn’t returned yet.
“You guys have a flight on Friday, right?” Kong Han asked. It was already Tuesday, so Friday wasn’t far off.
“No, we’re driving back. There was an issue with the car before, and Mr. Yang had someone tow it for repairs. So, we’ve been using the car Mr. Yang provided for a while. Now the car’s been fixed, and we’ll all drive back. It’s more convenient that way.” Charlie replied.
Kong Han nodded, “That makes sense, taking a cat is definitely more convenient by car, and you guys won’t get tired taking turns driving.”
“Indeed. By the way, Director Kong, if there’s anything else needed, like reshoots or additional shoots, just call me,” Charlie said to Kong Han.
According to the original plan, although this film was now completed, it only marked the end of the initial shooting. The post-production would take several months, and the film would not be released until next summer. It was slated to be a summer blockbuster.
“Alright, take care.”
“Alright, Director Kong, goodbye then.”
After leaving Kong Han’s place, Charlie and the others in the car discussed the gifts they had bought that day–some for their mothers, some for their sisters-in-law, and of course, presents for wives and girlfriends too.
“I think I still need to buy some more things.” Someone in the backseat was going through the list and checking off items, realizing there were a few things they still hadn’t bought as requested by their family.
“Let’s go again tomorrow; there isn’t much left. I’ve nearly finished everything I needed today. You guys can shop tomorrow while I take a walk and snap more photos.”
“Let’s take Heitan out with us tomorrow; we can’t keep leaving him with Director Kong,” Charlie suggested.
They all felt uneasy leaving Zheng Tan alone in the house. Other cats would be fine, but Zheng Tan was an exception, which is why Charlie didn’t mind bothering Kong Han.
The others had no objections.
So, the next day, Zheng Tan accompanied them on a tour around the city. They ended up at the seaside, where Charlie and his friends wanted to take a few more photos.
Although there were no beauties in skirts or bikinis to be seen this season, and not many people around, Charlie and his friends were still enthusiastic.
Even watching the sea required choosing the right season. Some compared the sea in May to a gentle maiden, making it a fine time to bring a lover or spouse and select an evening when the sun wasn’t too scorching for a romantic outing by the seaside.
But now it was winter, and besides, it was just five guys plus a cat of the male persuasion–there wasn’t a whiff of romance in that. They were here purely to take photos for memories, after all, Chuhua City was inland; lakes and rivers could be found, but not the sea.
Many people felt the sea was a bit more ferocious this time of year and didn’t like to visit the beach. However, there were also those who appreciated the impressively harsh sea vistas with biting cold winds and surging waves.
While being buffeted by the sea breeze, Charlie messed with his windblown hair, “I heard it gets even colder here after a while, but at the moment, it’s still bearable.”
Zheng Tan, being short-haired, could feel his fur being blown backwards, and his whiskers were twitching too.
The group struck various poses for photos, and Zheng Tan joined in. However, despite the multitude of shots, there wasn’t a single group picture.
“Let’s ask someone to help us take one,” someone suggested.
The person holding the camera looked around and noticed someone walking towards them. He hurried over.
“Hey, beauty, could you help us take a picture?”
“Sure,” the figure didn’t refuse and quickened her pace towards them.
As the woman approached, Charlie and the others belatedly realized just how tall she was.
The tallest among them was just over 1.8 meters, roughly 1.82 or 1.83, but standing before this woman, he couldn’t feel any height advantage at all. Although she wore leather boots with heels, they weren’t high, suggesting that she must be at least 1.75 meters tall.
During their time with the film crew, Charlie and his crew had seen several female celebrities whose beauty could compete with one another, and they all had great figures. Compared to them, the face of the woman before them seemed weaker, but strangely enough, even though her face wasn’t spectacular, even though she had casually tied her hair in a ponytail, even though she was dressed in simple attire without any luxury, she still gave off an aura that was not inferior to those celebrities, possessing an even stronger presence that was indescribable. When this woman had approached, the heartbeat of Charlie and his friends had involuntarily quickened, and so had Zheng Tan’s.
“Are you a model?” one of them asked.
She smiled faintly and nodded.
“Really? What’s your name? I’ll look it up later; I feel like you must be a well-known model,” another one of the five said.
However, she didn’t appear interested in giving her name, simply replying, “Just a minor model.”
Perhaps realizing that the question asked was a bit abrupt and rude, Charlie kicked the inquirer and then turned to the woman, handing her the camera. “Then we’ll trouble you with this, thank you.”
After receiving the camera and waiting for them to get into position, she took their picture.
She snapped about a dozen shots before Charlie and the others finished posing.
“Thanks,” said Charlie.
“You’re welcome,” she said with a smile, and then turned to leave.
However, before she left, her gaze lingered momentarily on Zheng Tan–Charlie and the others didn’t notice it, but Zheng Tan did. In fact, he had felt the sensation of being watched by her even before she approached to take the picture. That feeling had grown stronger when she was taking the picture, and her parting look confirmed Zheng Tan’s suspicion.
Yet, Zheng Tan was sure he didn’t know her. If he had seen her before, he would remember–her looks might not be striking, but her overall vibe was memorable; that kind of aura was hard to mimic.
There seemed to be no malice from her, more like she was sizing him up.
Once she was far away and out of sight, Zheng Tan stopped thinking about it. As long as there was no malice, it was fine. Whatever she intended, if it really involved Zheng Tan, they were bound to meet again.
After taking the photos, the group returned to tidy up their things and planned to get a good rest. They would drive back to Chuhua City the day after tomorrow.
Meanwhile, as Zheng Tan and his friends were discussing their return, at Kong Han’s place–besides Kong Han and Yang Yi– there was another person present, the very woman who had helped them take pictures at the beach.
“What do you think, Li Wei, that cat’s not bad, right?”
“Not bad,” Li Wei said, looking at a series of photos in her hand.
In Li Wei’s hands, besides pictures of Zheng Tan, there were other animals: cats, dogs, and even a goofy monkey baring its teeth.
Hearing her response, Kong Han laughed, “It’s rare to hear a ‘not bad’ from you. It seems you’re quite satisfied. Why not just go with that one?”
Li Wei hesitated for a moment, “I’ll look at the others first and decide after meeting a few more.”
“Sure, but both Kong Han and I think that cat is quite suitable for you. The others definitely can’t compare,” Yang Yi said proudly.
Zheng Tan, who was lounging on the couch watching Animal World, was unaware that he’d been marked again. (To be continued.
