Chapter 345: Carnage

Chapter 345: Carnage

Lottie’s face turned white as a sheet, blood quickly — and quite literally — draining from her face.

Now that Silas knew what was going on, he could distinctly hear the suckling sounds emitted as Alistair drained the blood from Lottie’s body. In front of Silas’s very eyes, Lottie turned paler and thinner, her body shriveling up like a withered plant during drought.

When Alistair was finally done, his head pulled back away from Lottie, tearing away a chunk of flesh along with his abrupt actions. Yet, despite such a huge wound, no blood dripped from the area Alistair had torn off.

There was no blood left in her, after all.

"Is that all?" Alistair lamented depressingly. He clicked his tongue before raising his hands.

His newly grown right hand looked human only in passing. When Silas had a proper look at it, he realized that Alistair no longer had nails but instead, had claws that resembled the talons of a predatory animal.

Without warning, Alistair sliced across Lottie’s neck, chopping off her head. It bobbed back and forth on the stump of her neck for a few seconds before it eventually toppled over, falling directly into Silas’s lap.

The young man screamed, immediately jumping up and tossing Lottie’s head away from himself as though she was made of a bag of hot coal. It tumbled on the bed before falling off the edge, landing on the floor with a loud thud.

By this time, Silas’s face was as pale as Lottie’s was. He leaned against the wall, his shoulders rising and falling rapidly as he tried hard to maintain his rising anxiety. His older brother was still on the bed, indulging in the blood fresh from Lottie’s newly severed neck.

Once he was done with draining her of every last drop, her corpse had become unrecognizable. What was once a curvaceous and sensuous figure had turned into a layer of skin and bones. If Silas hadn’t known that it was Lottie’s body, he wouldn’t have been able to guess that the pile in front of him was even a human.

"Harlots are always delicious," Alistair murmured, licking the remaining blood off his hands and claws. His tongue seemed very elongated, almost like a snake’s. The tip of it was way more pointed than an average human’s, and it could wind and curl around his fingers to get to every crook and cranny.

Silas shivered in disgust, backing away. He looked at where he had left his clothes and, in turn, where he had left his ruby pendant. It was removed just now when he and Lottie were having fun as it would only get in the way. Silas also had the tendency to lose control of his powers whenever he got too excited, making it a bad idea for him to keep a crystal on him during sex.

Now, however, it was a miserable inconvenience.

He didn’t know what had happened in the time he had been gone from the palace. Whatever went down, a monster was created― that demon could not be his brother!

Right as Silas inched over to where the shiny pendant hung, Alistair’s head suddenly spun until his gaze rested on Silas. A moment of silence hung in the air, leaving even a single breath coming from Silas audible.

His heart was caught in his throat, fear gripping him whole as cold sweat broke out across his body. Silas didn’t dare to move an inch more, simply waiting to see if Alistair would move first.

Alistair’s eyes weren’t that of a normal human― he had a black sclera, red irises, and golden pupils. The grin on his face stretched his lips beyond the realms of normalcy; it looked as though the skin of his cheeks had been sliced open just to make way for this smile.

"Fuck."

The moment the expletive left Silas’s lips, Alistair lunged off the bed and pounced in his direction. Silas barely dodged in time, tumbling over to one corner as Alistair crashed against the wall. The force he used allowed him to blast a hole right through the wall and out into the corridor outside.

Silas heaved, wasting no time to look if Alistair was knocked unconscious. He quickly slipped the pendant around his neck before pulling up his trousers. His hand had just picked up his shirt when Alistair tumbled back in, causing Silas to drop his shirt in a panic.

The young prince shot his hand out, his ruby pendant glowing a harsh red as it began to heat up. He sent a blast of fire in his older brother’s direction, incinerating the bed and blowing up the floor in between them.

That bought Silas just enough time― Alistair stumbled back, stunned by the fire. If it were a usual day, Silas would’ve been no match for the former crown prince. Alistair could’ve easily deflected the blast without a second thought for it had been ingrained into his muscle memory. His battle instincts had been honed since childhood while Silas, on the other hand, had only known the merry life of luxury.

However, perhaps it was due to the demonic transformation that had taken place in Alistair’s body, but he wasn’t able to redirect the fire in time. In fact, he barely even managed to move back in time, causing the fire to burn a part of his legs.

Silas didn’t have the time to care. He took one last quick glance at Lottie’s dried-up body before he dashed, scrambling out of the door. Silas even made sure to add a few more random walls of fire here and there, setting the corridors aflame.

Only when he dashed out did Silas realize the mess the building was in. Bodies littered the floor everywhere, some with missing body parts while others looked like a wilted leaf. Blood splattered across the walls and floors, but otherwise, there wasn’t much of a struggle or a mess.

Most of the dead bodies were found in the individual rooms, easily seen through the doors that were hanging wide agape. Or straight-up torn off the hinges.

Silas had just emerged from the building, barely even given the chance to take a breath of relief when the glass window from upstairs shattered. A man leaped out from the ledge, and Silas looked up just in time to come face to face with Alistair’s deranged smile.
