Chapter 910: Section 602: Meeting (Part 3)
Before leaving, Malin glanced at the half-blood, who still seemed not to have recovered from his brother’s death. Malin tapped his shoulder with spiritual energy, and only then did the big fellow come around.
He seemed unsure of what to do. This lad wasn’t a Frost Giant, but likely a mixed-blood from the giants of the southern regions of old Europe, his eyes full of grievance as he looked at Malin: "Sir, you might as well kill me."
Malin shook his head; the gnome who was already raising his pistol saw it instantly disintegrate into a pile of parts in his hand.
"Why, Sir, do you need me to pick up the gun from the ground before you’re willing to kill me?" The half-blood seemed so aggrieved he was close to tears.
Malin still shook his head and after a moment’s thought, he spoke in the language of giants: "Lord Ingram and Scholar Heinstant sacrificed themselves for the good of the Guild, do you not wish to bring them back to their homeland, or would you rather leave them and yourself in a graveyard of this strange world, making it difficult for those who come after to find you?"
Malin’s words in the giant’s tongue indeed stunned the big fellow, who struggled for a while before finally nodding: "You... you are right, I... I cannot let Master Ingram and Scholar Heinstant rest as strangers in a foreign land, may I know your surname, Sir?"
Malin smiled and gave his name. As before, the half-blood did not catch the name Malin gave. He looked confused, until the half-human from the Assassin’s Guild shook his head: "Big guy, don’t you know the most famous law of the Transcendent?"
His exclamations and questions earned a nod from the half-blood: "I... I haven’t been with the Church for long, I didn’t know."
"Then listen well and remember, the true pinnacle of the Gaiates and Haus families has never had their name identified, it’s been six centuries since the Origin Serum was created, millions have been fortunate enough to return to the Great Ruin and have seen the pinnacle of the Gaiate and Haus families, yet no one has ever confirmed their names, whether it’s the pinnacle themselves or from their ancestors, their names are unconfirmable. So, when you go back, tell those who ask that you saw the pinnacle of the Gaiates, who came from the past of the river of time, witnessing the scene of his descendants’ revenge. If you need a witness, you can come to us."
After the half-human explained, the half-blood looked at Malin as if looking at a deity walking on earth.
Eventually, the big guy drove over his pickup, and with Malin’s help using spiritual energy, they loaded the motorcycle and the bodies of the two knights into the back of the truck.
The big fellow covered them with a tarp and decided to drive to their local contact point - at this moment, Malin had already ordered the ancient order’s team to declare a temporary ceasefire with the Temple Knights in this city.
After sending off the big fellow, Malin turned to the half-human: "What are you and your companions planning to do?"
"We are thinking about how to write the report, and, could you have your descendant clarify if the harvest badge in his hand is real?" The half-human looked at Mars, then Malin turned to his offspring, who nodded, "It’s real, I found it in the house left by my father, among my mother’s belongings."
Malin noticed the half-human gasp. This fellow seemed to recognize the identity of Mars’s mother.
But this half-human only lost his composure for a moment, quickly covering his innate thoughts with a sniff: "I see, with that being the case, we shall take our leave, Sir."
Watching as the half-human turned to him, seemingly waiting for Malin’s opinion.
What else could Malin think? He waved his hand, bidding farewell to the pair, then turned to look at the gnome: "What about you?"
"Our existence has been exposed, I’m old, and with these three children, I fear I might not be able to protect them well, so I plan to take the children and leave this city, returning to our control area of the ancient orderers." The gnome said, turning to Ayla: "Ayla, go and say something to your pinnacle, perhaps this will be your first and last time seeing him."
Then this truly genuine girl came over, looking at Malin: "I... before today, had never heard about our family’s story from the elders at home, I always thought that something must have gone wrong with my bloodline at some point, otherwise each time I took the Origin Serum, I should have seen the forebears of the Walden family, not strange ones from the Gaiate family... I asked my grandfather, and he said we were descendants of the Gaiates, I thought there must have been some mistake..."
Her words made Malin laugh. This silly girl, both in personality and appearance, resembled her ancestor Maya.
"I know, so I want to give you a gift." Malin reached out and pressed his finger to her forehead.
The next second, an inverted triangular pure white mark appeared on her forehead, Malin directed the power of spiritual energy into his descendant.
"Remember, after you return home, work hard. I have ignited the Psychic Flame for you, how far you can go depends entirely on your efforts, remember, bloodline is just the ladder for your advancement, if you do not strive, everything is merely empty talk. Remember, greater achievements come from hard work. If you want to seek revenge against the Temple Knights, you must possess a strength greater than theirs; revenge without strength is just empty talk. Did you get it?"
