Chapter 901: Section 597: Trial (Part 1)
Glancing at the old friend who had just walked in, the human sitting in the control center pushed up his glasses on the bridge of his nose: "You are the hero of us all, Rhine, that truly was a monster. When your security director called me over, my left eye’s Spiritual Energy observation plugin overloaded the moment I laid eyes on him."
"That’s one of the Haus children, I know his mother; he’s a very headstrong child. Even though he’s far from Carterburg, the heartland of the Haus family, he married a Half-blood Domestic Fairy from the Zhang family... I used to think that was just a normal intermarriage between different beings, but clearly, his child named Mamar has an enormous amount of Fate. Standing in front of him, I couldn’t feel any Spiritual Energy talent in his body at all, but when I closed my eyes, I saw a sun."
Rhine sat next to his old friend and took the cup of tea handed to him by the security director.
Anyway, this is a true ancient Deity, what does this represent? Could it be that as the last history book of the Tide of the Dead has said, Chaos will once again tear through the walls that separate Subspace from our universe?
Thinking of this, Rhine sighed deeply in his heart — this hypothesis had always had its proponents through these two millennia. After the last Chaos invasion was put to an end by the Tide of the Dead, the legendary heroes of the time continued to prepare for battle since the Tide of the Dead occurred more and more frequently. To the people of that time, the final battle would commence in twenty years, and then everyone would face death.
But no one shrank back from this, because people of that era knew that redemption might not come again, and everyone could only go generously to their death.
However, the final battle did not come, and in waiting, humanity lost its vigilance. The political upheaval in the Northern Kingdom shattered the human alliance, and Northern nationalism, the royalty, as well as the treacherous officials ultimately tore the Northern Kingdom into two halves.
Over the following two millennia, this world has been undergoing unstoppable change, but... the final battle never came, and gradually, most people forgot all about it, only some ancient families that have survived two millennia still remember these old tales.
Not many people still believe that all of this truly happened. Thinking of this made Rhine shiver. If Chaos returns, what can we do?
"You cut off the signal at the end, what happened?"
The question from his friend made Rhine shake his head: "Regarding that person, I dare not speak openly, and I think you would not want to know all of this either."
"Uh, you mean he came with a mission... Then better not to talk about it, some things I really don’t want to know too much about. Though, I will definitely include this encounter in my report, the Mage Tower will take this very seriously, I think this should be the first record of an ancient soul attracted [here] by a child who was given a potion. That great alchemist from the Haus family would never have imagined that his potion would help another child of the Haus family so many years later."
"Old friend, don’t mention that child," Rhine reached out his hand to stop his old friend’s train of thoughts.
"Why?" The old man was very curious.
"Because it involves both the Haus family and the Gaiates." Looking at his own old friend, Rhine was sincere; he truly did not wish for his old friend to lose his life because of this.
"...I’ll heed your advice." Despite being somewhat reluctant, Rhine’s old friend eventually chose to recognize his mistake and turn back.
This made Rhine feel a lot better. Considering all that he had in mind, Rhine ultimately decided to warn his old friend in as appropriate a tone as he could: "Old friend, believe me, when you go back, you must help me search your grand library to see if such things have happened in the past."
"That’s no problem, I understand what you mean." Having said that, the elder stood up: "There’s no time to lose, I will go back now, hoping that the Goddess of Fate will not be so demanding of us."
"There are no more goddesses, my old friend, the deities have not appeared for two millennia." Watching his old friend leave the control center’s door, Rhine took a sip of his tea.
"You just saw one, you forgot." Rhine’s old friend laughed, then turned to jump onto his two-wheeled motorbike.
Rhine frowned and eventually smiled helplessly.
Yes, I did indeed just meet a walking Deity on the ground, what a fate, old friends.
But... my old friends, I cannot change your Fate, but I can see the day when your children’s Fate will change, and that is wonderful.
I really hope there’s a heaven in this world, so that one day when I arrive, I can tell you all about what happened to your sons, it will surely be a very long story.
But... it will definitely be a very long reunion, so long... I might need to live another lifetime to fully express the pain and sorrow of losing you all.

Standing amidst the crowd, a hooded Panso cat-person gazed at the advertisements playing on the billboard, featuring the latest virtual reality game system, said to provide all players with the most realistic experience.
After the advertisement ended, he turned and blended into the crowd, following the flow of people until they reached the front of a narrow alley.
Entering the alleyway, the young cat-person reached the middle segment of a wall and let out two syllables in the unique low growl of cat-people. After voice frequency collection, this section of the wall lowered, revealing a secret door with a palm collection screen.
The young cat-person raised his hand, mist covered the area, and within the fog, he began to shrink. Soon, his clothes fell to the ground, and the naked kitten placed his hand on the palm collection screen.
The door opened, and in the silent welcome, the kitten began dressing in the clothes he had prepared in his bag by his foot, then he put his original clothes back into the bag and discarded it in this small room.
Entering the room, the kitten saw the father-son photograph on the table and smiled as he reached out to caress the image of his father.
"Fate brought me back to this day, not to say goodbye to you."
With these words, the kitten began to undergo a new transformation; his black pupils turned to gold, his hair grew longer and then turned curly. The color changed from black to blue, then yellow, and finally settled on a shoulder-length light flaxen curly hair. The owner of the golden pupils smiled at himself in the mirror hanging on the wall of the small room, and the him with little tiger teeth in the mirror also smiled.
He clasped a bracelet that had long stopped working onto his left wrist. The kitten pushed open the door, and before closing it, glanced at the luggage that was enveloped and burnt out by Spiritual Energy. Narrowing his eyes and adjusting to the light, the kitten waved at the father on the table.
"Good night, you...big liar."

Malin stood on the side of the avenue, happily eating the sweets that the girls, who seemed to be college students, had bought for him because it had been a long while since anyone had given him something to eat just because he looked cute.
Hey, back two thousand years ago, everyone was destitute and struggling to survive; nobody had the money to feed the little rabbit sweets.
It’s only in this era that I think how great it would have been to be reborn.
While feeling nostalgic, Malin noticed a peculiar little kitten crossing the street from the opposite side.
She didn’t seem to notice what was happening here, but from her knee-length deep blue skirt, the beige sweater with a white shirt underneath, the eyeball-shaped floating smart device next to her, and the pretty little crossbody bag, she looked like a child from a wealthy family.
But Mars, you little rascal, what the devil are you up to?
Malin frowned, then realized that this might not be just any common occurrence – this child didn’t seem to be the Mars he knew.
Because she had just glanced this way, then completely ignored Malin’s presence.
The Mars of the past, upon seeing Malin, would always be confronted with a skull-headed figure – such a conspicuous appearance should’ve caught Mars’ attention.
If it wasn’t Mars summoning him, then... who could it be that was summoning him?
Malin felt puzzled, and even more curious – you see, what could be more engaging than a secret?
But, this Mars was obviously someone who had returned from the future to this timeline, and...he didn’t seem to have any plans to save his father.
Why that was, Malin couldn’t figure out.
So, driven by curiosity, Malin followed the child.
The child was cautious, but Malin followed him with a big bag of sweets, and even though the kid turned around several times, he never suspected Malin – the Suggestion Spell is really useful, you see, I’m just a harmless sugar-eating kiddo.
While pondering, Malin followed him to the Bell Tower of this city. As the child walked into the alley, knowing he couldn’t follow any further, Malin continued along the avenue.
Then he saw the towering transit hub that stood above the city.
Wow, it’s really beautiful.
Malin admired, is this the new era? It’s really nice.
With such admiration, Malin heard the sound of a motorcycle. He turned his head and saw an old man with white hair driving a rather futuristic bike speeding from the other side of the street and then disappearing into the distance.
Eight wheels in total, front and back, and it won’t fall over without a kickstand, really beautiful.
Malin thought for a moment, then noticed a tall building nearby.
And took another glance at the Bell Tower that the kid had climbed up.
Well, let me go to the rooftop and see what that little rascal is up to.
I hope there will be surprises... even a shock is fine.
