Chapter 899: Section 595: The Scroll of the Future (Part 2)

Malin once thought that so-called cyberpunk was nothing more than countless billboards in urban-rural junctions, extravagant fashion of shaving areas right down to the eyebrow corners and soft nose bones, as for mechanical limbs and electronic organs, and the contrasting roles of the pink and the hackers, not to mention the military mega-corporations were just commonplace settings like everyday meals, a twisted combination of new bottles of the next century filled with the old wine of the last century.

But when Malin actually saw all this with his own eyes, he sighed, realizing this was the life he wanted to face. As the young lady just walking by lifted her leather coat to reveal a steel Mulan missile, Malin discovered that his own ideas about body modification were not bold enough. Look at her—how were her lungs handled? Where was her heart moved to? And how were her ribs and entire skeletal structure supporting those metal masses?

Of course, this did not stop Malin from giving this refreshingly frank young woman two big thumbs up.

"Ah hey," she said, somewhat embarrassedly sticking out her tongue, then she was chased into the crowd by cyborg police whistling, watching her disappear with them, Malin had a slight fondness for this era.

But it still wasn’t enough, Malin hadn’t seen the sight he was most eager to witness.

So, he continued moving forward, his Spiritual Energy spreading under his feet, causing bystanders to subconsciously avoid its master.

Malin saw a giant, whose arms had undergone mechanical modifications, seated on the second floor drinking. He spotted Malin, seemingly a capable individual, and raised his glass towards him.

Malin responded with a smile—after all, as someone gifted with Spiritual Energy, it was normal to sense Malin’s presence.

While reflecting, Malin also noticed some Domestic Fairies, and like their ancestors two millennia ago, these dark-eyed creatures gazed at Malin as if they had seen something, frightened, panicking, and eventually humbly lowered their heads.

The Domestic Fairies had enough insight to confirm Malin’s presence, perhaps they also saw something others couldn’t.

Malin scanned the crowd, looking for a unique creature that appears at dawn in the world. Only upon seeing this creature did Malin feel that the sacrifices his era’s people made were truly without regret.

Following the main road, Malin finally saw two young girls in skirts, walking with a companion in an over-the-knee-length dress and three boys of the same age wearing different clothes, discussing a recently popular historical TV series from the Western Human World, related to the last great catastrophe.

A smile of relief appeared on Malin’s face, as following these children, he saw a school, and many more students wearing various kinds of attire.

Standing in front of the school, Malin rubbed his nose.

Knowledge is the greatest power, and a real school provides every child the chance to grasp it.

If he could, Malin truly wanted to record all this, to go back to his time and tell everyone he encountered that the future of this world holds such beautiful moments, where every species has the opportunity to enter the halls of knowledge.

Thinking this, Malin turned and left, satisfied to have seen all this. Next, he should find Mars and his father.

Not quite, it was Mars and Malai; Malin had already left a mark on that man. Malin heard Mars say that he and his father were attacked at night, so it was still early, and Malin happily headed to a milk tea shop.

He took out his card, paid, got a cup of chocolate milk tea, and sat down on a roadside bench, not knowing why, but he found himself leaving the right side empty, yet the old man inside him didn’t mind and happily sipped the milk tea.

The milk tea from ten thousand years later tasted like a drink from ten thousand years earlier; indeed, this type of synthetic beverage remains unchanged over time, always retaining the core formula.

After finishing the milk tea, Malin looked down at the little leopard at his feet, who was definitely not the Spotty he had brought back, but for some reason, Malin still reached out and hugged this Spirit creature into his arms.

Ah, how wonderful, you have also survived, and you can even live with us on this rejuvenated planet, how marvelous.

Malin kissed the little leopard, who then buried itself in Malin’s arms.

Until an elf wearing an ancient-style long robe approached Malin.

"The descendants of Lady Spotty have never been as happy as they are today. Child, how did you manage that?" The elf looked at Malin with confusion, doubt, but mostly curiosity.

"It is a descendant of Lady Spotty, that Lady Spotty," Malin was also curious.

"It is Lady Faye’s Lady Spotty, Lady Lulu’s Lady Spotty’s descendant never came to the Eastern Human World... Ah, looking at you, you must have Domestic Fairy blood. This child really likes Domestic Fairies," the elf said, then fell silent for a moment, seemingly realizing why he had become an uncontrollable chatterbox.

Malin subtly increased his hinting, and finally, as if unaware, reached out and took the little leopard back, the little leopard whining until Malin patted its head: "I’m not your owner, but I believe you’ll find the one who is yours."

Perhaps understanding what Malin had said, the little leopard finally licked Malin’s face.

Malin smiled and stepped back, said goodbye to the Spirits and the little leopard, and then continued on his adventure into the future.

As he passed through the intersection, Malin noticed that the streets ahead became more technologically advanced, and there were men in black standing there. They noticed Malin approaching and one of them stretched out a hand to stop him: "This is a private area, it is not open to the public right now, little one, unless you have something to prove your identity, you cannot enter."

"Really?" Malin smiled.

The three men in black simultaneously fell silent for a moment, and then all showed a vacant smile: "Your identity has been confirmed, welcome to the district where the Rasmus Biotechnology Pharmaceuticals Group building is located, Lord Mamar Rewo Gaiate."

"Thank you, I’m here to have fun," Malin said with a smile to the tiny camera on their chests.

......

Half an hour later, Malin sat at a table outside a unmanned café on the street. An old Panso cat-person sat across from him, watching Malin eat pastries, and the old man sighed: "The pinnacle of the Gaiate family, I would never have believed in your existence if you hadn’t revealed our family’s secret."

The age-old secrets of the Rasmus family aren’t really anything noteworthy, and I think you, old man, must have seen my liberated inspiration to be forced to believe it.

Of course, Malin would never say this out loud, after all, this old man appears to be over a hundred years old.

After all, the young clan leader of the Rasmus family married a girl from the Gaiate family several centuries ago, it’s just a pity that they bear the Rasmus surname and it has been a long time since there has been any marital alliance with the Haus and Gaiate families, thus they can no longer get in touch with Malin at this peak.

However, in their family history, they indeed had contact with Malin’s existence, and it is for this reason, when Malin declared his name and demonstrated strong Spiritual Energy, the old man was half convinced to listen to him tell everything.

"Your Excellency, I am curious, your appearance before me couldn’t merely be to see me, could it?" the old man asked with a hint of skepticism.

Of course, Malin shook his head and started asking about the situation with the Dead Eye group.

This old cat was clearly aware of them.

"It is an organization that emerged in the past decade, started in the Eleventh District of the city. I heard they are trying to move into District Ten, aiming step by step to climb to the city’s summit. The idea is quite good," said the old cat with a meaningful smile.

"You mean, to you giant corporations, this organization is nothing but a toddler carrying gold in the city?" Malin grasped the old cat’s implications and smiled, nodding: "Yes, they are really just the so-called underlings of this city’s upper layer, and if we were to deal with them, they could only last for three days at most. If it involves the family of this kid you’re possessing, it could even be less by one day."

"What a joke, I never knew Domestic Fairies could be so fierce," Malin said with a laugh.

"Rewo Gaiate Union Pharmaceuticals, you know, in this era, your family’s union pharmaceuticals is the only one that can compete with our Rasmus Biotechnological Pharmaceuticals, and don’t worry, our two families have very good private relations. After all, we share the same bloodline from a previous era, even though it has become distant, the Rasmus family and the Gaiate family are still the closest friends,"

This old cat completely misunderstood Malin’s intent, and his rambling made Malin sigh internally.

The hero who wanted to slay dragons has become the ancestor of dragons.

But then again, this kind of thing happening two thousand years later is not something Malin needs to be concerned about, nor is it his responsibility; after all, every era will have its own heroes.

"Have you heard of the name Malin?" Malin then asked about another person.

"Yes, a Panso cat-person in the Dead Eye group. I don’t know why he ended up this way, but I would not be surprised if one day he ends up dead on the streets. After all, taking this path means he is no longer one of our Panso clan,"

Old Cat’s statement piqued Malin’s curiosity: "What do you mean by that?" he asked.

"Panso cat-people have a clan rule that they must not engage in evil deeds, otherwise, an individual will be exiled from the clan. In this city, I am the Shepherd of the Panso cat-people clan, and that guy named Malin and his disappointing child have already been expelled from our clan by me. I reported this to the chieftain of The Great Forest Land three years ago, who is also a member of the Gaiate family," Old Cat mentioned Malin with undisguised disgust, which made Malin feel uncomfortable yet somewhat relieved.

The discomfort is that Malin sacrificed his reputation and Mars’s childhood for his career, and it’s unknown when he will be rid of this dishonor.

The relief is... the Panso cat-people handled this matter well, and it can’t be blamed on these big cats.
