Chapter 694: Section 482: Follow-up (Part 3)
The Noble God indeed had the intention to negotiate, but the destruction of the Farrol Grand Diocese at Malin’s mere gesture had instilled fear in each diocese. Whether it was the Bishop or anyone else, they all felt trepidation at the prospect of negotiating with Malin.
In the end, Logan’s cousin, one of the only two living Divine Envoys and a Sage, was chosen—the reason being that the other Divine Envoy specialized in combat, and sending him might very quickly progress to a champion duel stage, whereas sending this Constance Federon, it was thought that a Legendary figure like Mr. Malin would not deign to duel with such a powerless Sage.
After all, it was commonly said that Mr. Malin enjoyed spreading knowledge and showed great courtesy to those who possessed it.
Indeed, Malin was now collecting literate youths, and after he had gathered a significant number, he would enroll them in the night university. Malin and several tutors took turns in force-feeding education, and once they were sufficiently taught, they would be placed in the schools of the Carterburg region.
The Church of the Goddess of Harvest and the Church of Justice favored such teachers who spread proper knowledge. The two major churches often provided protection, and in the villages and towns where the teachers resided, distinguishing and delivering those Chaotic Cult members lurking among the people to the top of the town walls had become the most popular program for the Punishers of the Churches of the Goddess of Harvest and Justice in the entire Carterburg region.
Malin’s side also rewarded the Punisher teams for capturing Chaotic Believers. After all, a teacher needed nearly half a year of their instruction to succeed, and their academic accomplishments were an extremely valuable asset. Since what the Chaos Cultists enjoyed most was killing them, Malin certainly wanted to make it clear that what he preferred even more was their demise—therefore, this award was only given to those Punishers who had killed Chaotic Believers.
Of course, if information was extracted from the mouths of living believers, subsequently dealing a devastating blow to all Chaotic Believers in the area, the head of each Chaotic Believer would earn that team a bounty.
Since there are True Gods in this world, Malin did not worry that someone would kill the innocent to claim credit.
Similarly, the ever-decreasing number of Chaotic Believers also vindicated one of Malin’s theories—that in this age, as long as one could eat well, dress well, have a home, and undergo the baptism of the night university, neither the peasant nor the city dweller would be interested in the doctrines of the Chaos Cult, and should they have a wife, such a family would be even less likely to produce Chaotic Believers.
So those who said that Malin cherished knowledge and Sages, as carriers of knowledge, the Nobles of the Noble God did indeed not misjudge.
After meeting with that poor soul, Lord Constance returned somewhat uncertain of what to say—the Church of Justice conducted its affairs without leaving any room for doubt, all testimonies and evidence directed and stamped by that Bishop. From his perspective, it was abundantly clear why the Master of Wisdom did not send anyone to accompany him—their believer Linz Mowish had already been exonerated from the entire affair, becoming a tainted witness who not only confirmed that the Bishop of the Noble God had hinted at him with verbal manipulation but also slandered Mr. Malin’s ambition.
To have ambition is one thing; these days, who doesn’t harbor lofty ambitions? But to assert that Mr. Malin aspired to hatch the chicken that would lay the Emperor’s eggs... that’s just not the right direction of slander.
With the divine favor Mr. Malin has received from the Deities, would he even need to borrow if he truly wanted to become the Emperor?
As a Legendary figure dearly beloved by the God of Justice, feared by the Evil God, and favored by the twin lesser goddesses of the Goddess of Harvest, this is a universally acknowledged truth within the Supernatural Realm. Even many daring Transcendents are warned by their elders—cherish life, stay away from Malin.
Unless they could appear before Malin as boldly as that Lich, they would do well to stay as far away as possible.
Indeed, in the Supernatural Realm, this is a fundamental truth, regardless of how much two people may disagree on other matters, when it comes to how much Malin is favored by the Deities, there is always common ground.
It seems that this Bishop cannot be saved, so the Divine Envoy turned to a secondary objective—he set out to rebuild the grand diocese of Rongma.
Malin agreed to this—if for nothing else, his actions had already disgraced the entirety of the Western-like world by tearing down a Deity’s diocese, leaving the Deity slapped in the face without daring to respond, making minor churches rethink their weight when facing Malin.
Indeed, the Shepherd’s church recently pursued Malin, requesting that he invest in their pastures. They were willing to contribute money, manpower, and even sheep, insisting only that Malin help them build a large pasture.
Malin naturally enjoyed such a mutually beneficial endeavor. Selecting a plateau to the north of Rongma, he provided the Shepherd’s church with a blueprint for a large pasture, instructing them to lay the foundation, after which he would help construct the pasture. Everything produced in their pastures was to be handled by Malin’s consortium.
In Malin’s group, wool would be turned into yarn, lamb meat processed into cans, sheepskin transformed into scroll materials for Casters, and sheep offals would be selected for the edible parts, cured with salt and canned to be distributed to the orphanages of various churches and to veterans retired due to injuries—Farole lacked many things, but salt fields were not among them.
Malin even specifically called Constance over to witness the construction of the pasture. When Malin’s construction team completed the entire pasture in a week’s time, the young Sage displayed a touch of bewilderment, "Isn’t this a bit too fast?"
