Chapter 625: Section 439: John Wick (5)

Before Jason’s satellite was in position, Malin had discussed the drone issue with Jason, who said it was no problem, as long as the drone factory could be restarted, he could replace them with cheaper and more reliable drones.

Then Malin, being nosy, asked where the drone factory was located.

"There are three factories in the European region, one in Madrid, one in Oslo, and another in Moscow," Jason answered.

"I shouldn’t have asked." Malin rolled his eyes—Madrid was now who knows whether under the sea or in some godforsaken place; Moscow is now at the heart of the Dark Zone; Oslo’s still there, but that damned place now has an average daily temperature below minus one hundred degrees. The issue with the workshop isn’t whether it can be used but whether workers can even survive there, let alone work.

Unless there was a way to dismantle the entire factory and bring it back, there was no chance of resuming operations.

Malin had to put that aside for now and start preparing for the upcoming battle—since it was going to be a large-scale array battle, an assault rifle would be somewhat inadequate. Malin made a trip back to Carterburg, took four shotguns and four long-barreled precision rifles, the latter for the girls to use, and as for the former, since the shotguns were firing buckshot, he could let Jessica use one—simply have her spray fire into the Chaos crowd. He gave two to Matilda and Nova; these two girls were strong, so having a shotgun each wouldn’t hurt.

Malin kept the remaining one for himself.

There were only six of the clip-style shotguns that Malin had made in total (mainly due to the high material requirements), after giving some away, using some himself, and selling some to acquaintances, he only had two left: one was with Matilda, and the other Malin had given to Colin to use.

So, these few were the pump-action shotguns that Malin was preparing for mass production.

The one for Jessica’s use was an M3Super90, 7+1 long chamber, with a modified 10-gauge. The choice of 10-gauge shot was to still allow for inertial loading by personnel with great strength (if it was a truly powerful giant, Malin would recommend to them a recoilless gun, the 40MM caliber kind), like Professionals or Transcendent Sequence holders. Malin prepared a portable rack (2X10 portable board) for Jessica, as well as a shoulder bag that could hold 30 shots, and he even attached a large red dot sight to the gun.

The one given to Matilda was a Benelli M4Super90, with a gas-operated system, and a short barrel 4+1 loading, 12 gauge. Both Matilda and Nova had used this gun and found it extremely effective whether for hunting or dealing with those fast-moving pests.

These two types of guns couldn’t be produced with the specific alloy but could use heavier materials. The good thing was that there were weight-reducing Arrays in this world; with one of those marked on a gun, it became suitable for human use.

Malin’s own was a specially modified model derived from an M1Super90, firing 8-gauge shots, 6+1 chamber, with an enlarged loading port to facilitate loading, an extra shell holder added at the ejection port, and a horizontal four-shell magazine at the buttstock. The inner walls of the barrel utilized reinforced materials, allowing the rifling to withstand the passage of steel hollow point bullets.

Since it used steel hollow point bullets, the penetrating power was insanely high, which is why the Dwarves liked this type of shotgun. In the underground tunnels, when fighting various Spirits and different kinds, a shotgun firing hollow point bullets could penetrate any armor not reinforced with Spiritual Energy, and the special bullets could even penetrate those with Spiritual Energy armor.

Moreover, often it would be one shot, multiple hits, and in the tunnels, a few of these shotguns could suppress the opposition so that they couldn’t rush over; as for Goblin-like creatures, the more came, the more would die.

So, Malin’s workshop was now working overtime on various shotgun orders for the Dwarves.

Malin’s use of this ’jumbo’ type large shotgun this time was also to demonstrate reliability and power of these big guys in front of these potential users.

As for protective gear, since the battle wasn’t an infiltration type, Malin switched to a lightweight Electrum-style encased helmet for head protection, and a light ballistic portable gear for his chest, made from Spirits spider silk woven with high-strength silk brought over by the Thanan people—three layers in total, with the innermost layer made from cartilage from fish Spirits, effective against rifle bullets and buckshot.

Malin hung a double row shotgun shell carrier on top, a quick access device that held eight rounds in two batches, four shots at a time, two per load, and used a modified magazine to ensure that such an action wouldn’t cut his fingers, while greatly enhancing shooting endurance.

"What’s the use of carrying so many bullets on you?" Lager looked at Malin’s outfit with curiosity.

"See that deer over there?" Malin pointed to the herd across the river. The deer were looking at the people on this side of the river, their curiosity not letting them flee despite seeing humans. Perhaps it was because they were quite far away, Malin estimated it to be about a hundred meters, still within the effective range of this gun’s hollow point bullets.

After adjusting the sights, Malin aimed the gun at the deer.

"You plan to hit a deer from here? I’m not dreaming, am I?" Lager looked towards the distant deer.

Then he heard a series of shots.

The first hit the stag in the head, flipping open its entire skull.

The second hit the chest of another stag that had yet to assess the situation, the steel hollow point bullet penetrating its lungs, creating a terrifying exit wound on the other side—as could be seen from the spray of blood mist behind it.
