Chapter 619: Section 433: John Wick (2)

Malin, accompanied by Matilda and Rewo, returned home without any incidents; the Elemental Ebb, while causing some inconveniences, seemed to offer more conveniences—there were no different kinds around, and the Spirits were listless too. Opening the door and walking into the living room, Spotty and her children were sprawled in front of the fire, soaking up the warmth, and so was the reserve food, no doubt.

The little ones, upon hearing Malin’s footsteps, got up immediately and went to greet their master, while Mrs. Spotty gave Malin a glance before lying down again.

Malin went to the kitchen to start preparing lunch, and also to make food for Spotty’s family.

The three little ones followed Malin, then after a while, sat next to Rewo on the sofa in front of the fire to enjoy the warmth.

Having chopped up the meat, Malin filled a bowl with the food and placed it in front of the fire.

Mrs. Spotty did not move, while the three little ones couldn’t wait to jump off the sofa and gather around the bowl to start eating the meat.

"Next month, I’ll take you all to the new house," Malin said, stroking Mrs. Spotty’s head and scratching her chin, to which the lady purred contentedly.

"We’re back," said Clovis and Nova as they came through the door, both carrying backpacks filled with processed deer meat, while Maya held two bags of it. "Before we came back, we gave the deer’s offal and scrap meat to the Church’s soup kitchen, and we gave a whole deer to Lord Green— the kids should all have meat today."

"You’ve worked hard," Malin replied, taking their bags and backpack, and headed to the kitchen with them.

Nova followed suit.

"I always thought that a being like you shouldn’t possess such a skill as cooking," Malin remarked, as he took out the deer meat and pulled a chef’s knife from the kitchen counter rack. "How was the hunt today?"

"Not bad, Clovis’s shooting is getting better," Nova replied, taking the chopped meat Malin had prepared, and began to tenderize it with a mallet. "You see, when I was younger, with my father still around, my mission was to safely grow up and then marry into a suitable Noble family. I was the messenger and the bargaining chip of my family, naturally needing to master this kind of skill, as the simplest way to capture a man’s heart is undoubtedly through his stomach."

"That’s very true, and I feel the same way. Every man has his unique weaknesses, and to become strong, you must learn to master your own weaknesses. My weakness is my stomach, hence I must not rely on others," Malin said with a smile.

"Are we no good at it?" Nova asked, looking at the meat in her hands.

"I wish you were, but to tell the truth, does any of you cook better than I do?" Malin asked emphatically.

After pondering, Nova finally sighed, "Alright, Malin, you’ve convinced me, but look forward to the day I grow."

"I’m all eyes," Malin replied with a smile.

.........

By the time Faye and the others got home with the spices, Malin had already prepared the steaks. Upon hearing that Lillim had calmed down the runaway pack mule, stopped the carriage, and saved another child, Malin gave Lillim a heartwarming hug.

"This is my Lillim, well done."

The goat girl smiled goofily, but it was evident that she was very happy and content.

That’s my Lillim, indeed.

Malin was delighted, and for lunch, they decided to barbecue on the roof. Of course, he didn’t forget Lillim and Clovis; the special fruit salad would be filling—a new fruit from the Seafloor Base, with no side effects. Lillim and Clovis ate very happily.

After all, even a shriveled apple could sell for a Mowish in Carterburg.

After the meal, following the usual routine, Fio and his friends were in charge of washing the dishes, while Malin started working on his writing—the outline he had been given seemed certainly passable to him.

After all, there aren’t many things that could infuriate an Evil God these days. Malin’s new ’creation’ was sure to enrage that impotent being, and as soon as it got angry, Malin would have Nameless locate its existence and then hop out to sweep it and its entire house away.

Did I hear you’re an Evil God with faint divine power, lacking a self-identity?

That’s great, please understand every word of this trilogy of love stories!

With such enthusiasm, Malin finished the first Chapter that very day. After the ladies read it, they said it was good and quite interesting.

On the third day, the second Chapter was completed. After the ladies read it, they said it was Malin’s most commonly used technique of first depressing and then uplifting. No problem, it was all just a technical adjustment. Besides, how could a love story written by Mr. Malin not have a happy ending?

Then, on the sixth day, the third Chapter was completed, and the book was finished. Malin handed the manuscript to the expectant ladies and then sat down to one side.

Fio brewed Malin a pot of black tea.

Lorrin brought out Malin’s favorite whiskey.

Melo brought Malin a small jar of fish-skin peanuts he had made himself.

Mana held up a parasol to shield Malin from the noon ultraviolet rays.

Two hours later, Rewo came running over, crying, and jumped into Malin’s arms, hugging his head and nibbling on it.

"Finished?" Malin, completely unaffected by Rewo’s nibbling, patted the girl’s back and asked with a smile.

"Mr. Malin is too mean, why didn’t you let them end up together."

"Because to bring two people in love together requires the magic of Fate. For two people to fall in love, stay together, and sustain each other takes a lot, and if two people are not blessed by Fate, they are doomed to not end up together," Malin said, talking serious nonsense.

Rewo fell for Malin’s bluff.

Then Matilda’s roar came from the other side: "Rewo, listen to your sisters, bite him."

"Huh! Mr. Malin said it was Fate’s arrangement," Rewo turned her head to look at her sisters in the room.

"What Fate’s arrangement! That’s all fake! He wrote the novel! He is the Fate of the characters in the story!" Lillim spoke out angrily.

"How could that be! How could Mr. Malin deceive me!" Rewo covered her small mouth in shock.

"Mr. Malin is deceiving you. Think about it, why did he start by writing it so sweetly, if not to crush all the beauty at the end?" Clovis said, her eyes red with anger.

"But, Mr. Malin, why did you write it like that?" Rewo asked.

"Well, I did it to take revenge on a Chaos Evil God for the child I killed. He needs the purest love? Fine, I’ll give it to him, but the ending might be completely different. I want him to become conscious in his rage, so we can locate his existence and then completely destroy him," Malin said, looking at Rewo in his arms.

The girl happily looked at her sisters: "Sisters, did you hear what Mr. Malin said?"

"We heard, but just thinking about how two people in love couldn’t end up together, Rewo, aren’t you mad?" Faye asked.

"But... what can I do, all that Malin did, was to eliminate the Evil God," Rewo said, pursing her lips.

"That’s exactly why, bite him, to let him know we don’t like tragedies!" the girls roared in anger.

Malin rolled his eyes.

The girls these days really are absurd.
