Chapter 601: Chapter 417: Silent Days (4)
```
In the following two days, Malin confirmed with various Churches the list of all the children, only to find that a part of them were in Church custody, while many remained in orphanages due to lack of talent. Among all the children, only about thirty percent could receive the blessing of life sharing. For the rest who had no matching personnel, Malin had no choice but to let the Druids use potions made from World Tree fruit to help them.
This wouldn’t cure their genetic defects, but at least it would allow the children to live much longer and have a better quality of life.
After taking care of these children, Malin went to the Church of the War God to say goodbye to the last two kids.
They were a pair of orphans who had appeared in Carterburg six years ago speaking the common tongue with an accent from the Eastern Kingdom, making people suspect that they were the descendants of runaway slaves.
It wasn’t long before their aptitude for the military profession was proven, and they were selected by the Church of the War God. Half a year ago, they fell ill together, and now they were critically ill.
The Benevolent Church had issued a critical illness notice just two hours earlier.
Malin saw the two children in the Church, lying together on a large bed, with a Priest from the Benevolent Church offering a prayer for the repose of their souls. Their limbs had withered, cracked skin wrapped around their veins, and looking at them, it seemed that they no longer had enough strength to smile, but their hands were still tightly clasped together.
Where would their souls go?
Malin asked himself this, then turned to Nameless: "Your Excellency, they worship the War God. So... what about their souls?"
"They will go to the realm of torment; perhaps they’ll become Bleeders. At least they won’t become Chaos Spawn, because their souls are resilient enough," Nameless replied emotionlessly.
Malin was taken aback: "Your Excellency, they are still children."
"This is the fate everyone must face. The position of the War God had been taken by torment before my arrival. I’m trying to steer him towards neutrality. It’s impossible to completely transform an Evil God; I merely wish to make him somewhat normal in this world... Do you think I am not omniscient and omnipotent?" Nameless looked at Malin.
Malin fell silent for a moment, then nodded: "Yes, Your Excellency. But I request you, if you can find the souls of these two children once they’ve transformed into Chaos, please lead me to them. What you cannot do, I will do. I will purify their twisted souls."
Having said this, Malin watched as the two children took their final breaths. Their fate had come to an end, and the Priest from the Benevolent Church completed the prayer. They did not know, nor did the members of the Church of the War God who were tidying the blankets, that these children would not become citizens of the divine realm of the War God. They would ultimately twist within the Subspace.
Malin did not know nor wished to know why it all started. He just wanted to tear to pieces those who caused the destruction.
If given the chance, he would not hesitate to do so.
People from the Church of the War God carried the children’s remains to the Church’s cemetery.
Not until Malin turned to leave did Nameless’s voice ring out again.
"As you wish, child."
"Thank you. I’ve always felt that in this world, there are no Saviors and Immortal Emperors," said Malin, looking at the Church’s gate.
"But Immortals do exist. That’s the true theory of materialism, while what you speak of is true idealism in this world," Nameless laughed.
"Yes... times have changed, but I truly miss the era when you weren’t here. We Mortals always say that man can conquer nature... Even after eight millennia, I still stubbornly believe so. Your Excellency, perhaps one day I will become divine. But if that day does come, the God I become will aim to annihilate the entire Subspace and the four Evil Gods... even if it means becoming an Evil God myself, I will not hesitate."
With those words, Malin approached the gate.
"Malin, I’m sorry you had to witness such sorrow," said Marian, the Bishop of the Church of the War God, looking much older and filled with sadness as he approached the gate: "They were exceptional children. I thought I had found my Malin, but fate has been cruel to me and the two children."
"Your Excellency Marian, please do not grieve. I believe they will find redemption," Malin said, extending his hand to shake with the old man.
The latter was silent for a moment, then smiled: "Do you think so too?"
"Yes, I do think so. Rest assured, Your Excellency Marian, they will find redemption. They certainly will."
Malin’s words left the old man puzzled, then he suddenly laughed and then a sadness returned: "Thank you, Malin. For you to comfort an old man like me in such a way, I don’t know how to repay you."
"I remember Hoffman, and I remember you, from when I was small..." Malin let go of the hand, stepping back, looking at the old man before him: "When I said goodbye to my teacher, I vowed that as long as it was within my power, I would put an end to the misfortunes of this world, to put an end to the pain. So, wait for my good news, and... please take care of yourself. Watch over us, the younger generation, as we fulfill our destiny."
With this farewell, Malin left the Church of the War God.
Faye and Clovis were already waiting outside the door for Malin. He reached out to take the two girls’ hands, and they stepped into the teleportation portal he had opened. In the next second, they appeared directly in Naples.
"Good, the wedding starts in fifteen minutes, and we don’t have much time," Nova said as she picked up a medium-sized red robe: "Malin, I have prepared your clothes for you."
"No need, my dear. I’m going to wear the large size today," said Malin as he took off his coat, followed by his shirt, and finally, he walked towards the wardrobe completely naked. With each step, he grew until he reached the wardrobe and adult-sized clothes appeared in front of him.
After putting on his underwear, Faye had a shirt ready. Malin took it and put it on.
Nova brought out the red coat of a Bishop, then handed the trousers to Malin.
```
Malin got dressed and took the belt buckle that Maya handed to him.
Faye took out Malin’s custom tie to put it on him, then took out a comb; Malin sat down to allow Faye to comb his hair.
"Fourteen minutes left," Lillim said, glancing at her pocket watch before closing the lid, hooking the watch chain to the loop next to Malin’s shirt pocket, and placing the pocket watch inside.
Maya brought over new shoes and placed them at Malin’s feet, which he then slipped into.
"All set," Faye stepped back, and Malin stood up, threading his arms into the long coat of the red robe designated for officiating ceremonies.
Once the long coat was on, Malin looked at his reflection and his neatly dressed loved ones in the mirror, "Let’s go."
The passage opened behind him; Rewo was the first to walk through, followed by his loves in single file, and Malin entered last, then appeared in the back hall of the Gallo family’s private chapel.
"I will take everyone to their seats in the reception area," Jessica said, dressed in the Church’s casual attire for the day. After speaking, she led the girls away.
Malin smiled and patted his chest at Anthony’s mother who was waiting there, "I apologize for the wait, madam."
"It’s nothing, your Excellency, I know you’ve been out saving people," the lady said with a smile and nodded, "Twelve minutes left, you can go up now, my child doesn’t have the patience I do."
"Rest assured, Anthony has been on patrols with me on the battlefield; he’s my comrade-in-arms. I’ll give him an unforgettable wedding experience." After saying this, Malin took the Cup of Blessing from the Bishop, a symbolic prop for the couple’s baptism, "Nova, Faye, follow me."
"Usually, I should be with the female guests," Nova said, somewhat puzzled.
"I have two princesses; why should I favor one over the other? So, come with me," Malin said, then signaled Fio to pass the Pastoral Staff to Nova—she was a follower of the Goddess of Harvest Church, and it was only natural for her to hold the staff for Malin.
Nova smiled as she took the staff while Malin turned to look at Faye holding the rings, "You two walk side by side behind me. Lorrin and Melo will clear the way for you."
"Isn’t that a bit over the top?"
"Not at all, trust me, I will give you an even more perfect wedding," Malin said, holding a cup in his right hand and snapping his fingers with his left towards the door, "Let’s go."
Having said that, he walked towards the exit with long strides.
As Nova and Faye lifted their feet, they saw flowers and herbs sprouting on the hard floor beneath them. At that moment, they either bloomed through the gaps in the planks or simply burst through holes in the wood itself.
Nova and Faye looked at each other and smiled, then followed their loved one towards the exit.
.........
When Malin walked out, the hall was already packed with people who all seemed to be waiting for him, even Anthony, already in place, appeared to be eagerly anticipating his arrival.
Malin smiled as he approached Anthony, "I told you, I wouldn’t be late."
"You really had me worried," Anthony said, noting the arrival of Nova and Faye behind Malin, and the flowers that grew in their path, "My goodness, Malin, I believe my wedding will be the most memorable beautiful moment of my life."
"Weddings are always supposed to be one of the most memorable beauties of life. The bride is here, pay attention now, I’m about to turn on the Amplification Spell," Malin said, nodding and smiling at the bride led by her father.
After he took her hand, Malin lifted the cup in his hand, dipped it into some Holy Water and lightly tapped it on their foreheads.
"Mr. Anthony, do you take Miss Lanina to be your wife, to cherish her for a lifetime?"
"I do," Anthony said, somewhat nervously, but trying his best to play his part well.
"How about you, Miss Lanina, do you take Mr. Anthony to be your husband, to support him for a lifetime?"
"I do," Miss Lanina said, much more naturally in comparison.
"Then, does anyone object?" Malin asked, while extending his hand, the young man just standing up from the audience was smacked against the wall by Malin’s Spiritual Energy.
You could hear a pin drop in the entire hall.
"Well, if no one objects, then I declare, your wedding is blessed by the Goddess. May you be happy," Malin finished, glancing at the audience below.
Good, those prying the young man off the wall wisely chose to keep a low profile.
Then, turning around, he picked up the ring box and handed it to them.
Then Malin saw Anthony take a ring and slide it onto his own finger.
