Chapter 593: Chapter Four Hundred and Nine: Unspoken Past (2)
Lorrin quickly stopped her foolish thought—if someone could hide their breath so completely, surely this was not an existence she, a mere Fourth Circle Wizard, could contend with. Besides, that child possessed two World Tree Saplings, any one of which could hang Lorrin up and beat her.
Fate had already been cruel enough to an old woman like herself; it was best not to court death any further.
With such a sigh, Lorrin chose to lean back in the soft chair and watched as the young girl who had emerged from the passage sat down beside Sigma.
She paid no attention to the Spirits sharing the Acorn nor to Lorrin, the newcomer. She simply placed a small box on the table, "Your Excellency Aite, I have already found what you were looking for."
"I am Dorothy, Miss Lover," said the being calling herself Dorothy, "I am aware of the task Your Excellency Aite has entrusted to you, and I have also prepared the items you need." As Dorothy spoke, Lorrin saw a metallic arm with a box descend from the ceiling, exchanging it with the girl’s box.
"Thank you, Lady Dorothy." The girl opened the box, glanced inside it, and then smiled very satisfied.
Then she leaned back in her chair, looking quite worn out.
After that, several more Wizards walked through the passage.
There was the middle-aged gentleman, Mr. Samlay, who seemed to be named after the Samlay wine, judging by his accent, he appeared to be a Farolian.
From The Great Forest Land, there was Misha, although she sounded like an Orc, she was actually a typical human miss, holding a small cat that must be her Magic Pet, likely a converter from Mage to Wizard.
Lord High Tower, male, of elven appearance, at least a Seventh Circle Wizard, with one eye flaming red, probably a mutation.
Lorrin heard footsteps behind her, and while in other places she would have surely turned to confirm the source, here, she trusted the gathering to be safe and only twisted her head to glance when the owner of the footsteps took a seat beside her.
Then she saw him, the Wizard King of her own Northern Kingdom, Ogg Kavi, a Ninth Circle Wizard, a living legend.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Power, it is always a joy to see you again," said Miss Dorothy, appearing much more proactive this time.
"Ah, Dorothy, long time no see. Where is Aite Your Excellency?" he asked.
"Your Excellency Aite will no longer be in charge of the gathering. I am assuming the duties this time, and from the next gathering, there will be a new Excellency to take charge."
"Then the little creature on the table, that should be the new Excellency’s pet, right?" Lord Ogg asked loudly.
"Yes," Dorothy replied, while the mechanical humanoid very humanly nodded in agreement.
"Then, the one sitting there..." Lord Ogg turned his head to look at the child.
As if by magic, aside from Lord Ogg and Lorrin, who had already locked onto the target, the remaining six Wizards belatedly turned their heads to look at the child.

Ah, has the Suggestion Spell been broken?

Shifting his attention away from the tablet, Malin smiled and nodded, "Good afternoon, Your Strength. To be honest, I am indeed surprised to see a Nine-ring Wizard still in possession of his senses."
"I feel the same, child. You’re so young yet already possess the power to access the Seventh Ring. I don’t recall such a youth in the Mage Tower. Who is your mentor, and why have you come to a gathering of wizards?" The old man’s voice was booming. There was a hint of suspicion and vigilance in his eyes, but no unease—ah yes, no unease. It must be his trust in the gathering’s safety.
With that thought, Malin reached out, catching Milani and Bippo and then distributed the remaining acorns, one by one, to the rest.
"Physical!" exclaimed the young wizard named Sigma in astonishment.
"I think, some of you may have already recognized my identity," Malin said, smiling as he rose to his feet. World Tree Sapling Lorrin draped a red bishop’s robe over Malin—the central Church dignitaries had considerately made three sets of bishop’s robes to suit Malin’s three different body sizes.
"Lord Malin Gaiate from Carterburg!" Mr. Chariot, Lord High Tower and the one who called himself Strength, Sir. Og, exclaimed Malin’s name together.
Misha of The Great Forest Land’s eyes widened. She stood up to run, but was quickly hoisted back into her seat by a mana leash.
Malin smiled and settled back into his seat, "Don’t worry, I did not come here today to round you all up— that’s something the witch hunters from the Eastern Kingdom and the Night Watchers of the Holy Kingdom like to do. I’m just a Red Bishop of the Goddess of Harvest. For me, hunting the wild boars that destroy the fields is more meaningful than hunting you."
Malin’s words made His Strength laugh. The old man glanced at his companions, "See, this is the magnanimity of the younger generation. Lord High Tower, does it make you feel old?"
"Indeed, but it is evident that Miss Misha didn’t choose to run because of Lord Malin’s identity, right?"
"Lord High Tower, please don’t mock such a weak woman as myself," said Misha.
"You, who trafficked four orc children, have no right to say that. However, since this is a gathering, I truly have no intention of hanging you. But, I must warn you..." Malin commanded the mana to release the girl and shook his head at her, "Please understand, I have good relations with The Great Forest Land, so I hope you don’t find yourself wanted there again. Otherwise, I will have to come after you personally, as dying at my hands will prevent any information about the gathering from being revealed through a shaman’s soul-searching spell, understood?"
The young lady still seemed somewhat confused.
"Miss Misha, look, I don’t know who you are or what you want. But if you plan to handle orc younglings, let me tell you, that’s wrong," Malin lowered his voice, looking at the girl before him, "I have certain special methods, derived from the long experiences of the Church, which could become the lasting memories of your brief life. So, if you stop now, we can consider the matter settled. I will not seek you out or pursue you. But, if you decide to continue dealing in such filthy business, I will find you, and then, I will hang you."
Finally, the young lady started to nod, completing her own salvation.
Malin smiled and nodded, then gestured for the wizards to put away the acorns, "This is a small gift from me. In Carterburg, the World Tree’s fruit has taken root completely. If you know of anyone whose magical mutations have become difficult to control, they can come to Carterburg. Near that Holy Oak, all wizards’ mutations and desires can be alleviated and even cured."
Malin’s words plunged the wizards into silence.
It seems they can still think freely... isn’t that nice.
