Chapter 566: Section 388: Help (Part 3)
```
The young man with a cold and handsome face handed over the letter to the Rebbish sheep girl in front of him, and although he could confirm that the girl possessed tremendous powers, his heart turned cold at the thought that she was Malin’s prey.
She was a Savior, as well as a Demon Lord who murdered like mowing grass.
Upon arrival, the Chief Observer of the Night Watch had specifically warned him not to develop feelings for that man’s beloved, or else they would have to painfully deny his existence.
"Everyone must pay the price for their actions, but your price may be especially severe."
Such a rigid old man. The girl in front of him was definitely not his type—Xing Chi’s type. He also didn’t know whose rumor had pegged him as a lustful monster.
That’s just great.
"Xing Chi... an interesting name. Are you an Observer of the Night Watch?" The sheep girl named Lillim in front of him sized up Xing Chi.
"Yes, respected Mrs. Malin. Xing Chi is the name given to me by my father when he found me; it was on the day when the Northern Star shone the brightest each year." The young Observer nodded.
"I see. I believe Mr. Malin will become friends with you. Let me take you to him," said the girl pleased by the address of Mrs. Malin.
If that was the case, then all the better. At least he wouldn’t have to search for him room by room.
Following behind the young mistress, Xing Chi first encountered a two-tailed big-eared fox girl in the hallway.
Double tails—could it be a mutation?
No, it wasn’t. Rather than calling it a mutation, it was more like... a blessing?
This must be Mrs. Matilda, mentioned in the reports. A fox person, a Paladin of the Lord of Justice, the kind deeply favored by the gods.
With that in mind, the young man placed his hand on his chest: "Good morning, Mrs. Matilda."
"Ah, you know me?" Matilda raised her eyebrows as she was about to speak.
"I am an Observer of the Night Watch, here to meet with Mr. Malin."
"Well, that’s great. Mr. Malin is over there in the parlor. Mr. Anthony has just arrived."
Anthony? It must be Anthony Gallo, the young member of the Gallo family. It is said that he just completed the Gallo family’s coming-of-age ceremony. Anyway, he is a lucky fellow.
With this thought, Xing Chi placed his hand on his chest again: "Goodbye, Mrs. Matilda."
"What a polite gentleman, please go with my sister," said the girl, who then continued on her journey... perhaps patrolling?
Xing Chi thought, while mentally recalling the rough layout of such a building—when the head of a household meets important guests in the parlor, it is natural for the women of the household with strong martial capabilities to take on such responsibilities... Ah, Lord Malin, you are even luckier than I have heard, the fox girl in front of me is clearly a high-ranking Paladin. Although she seems slender, anyone wanting to breach this place will have to pay a heavy price in casualties while she holds the ground.
A Paladin of the Lord of Justice is a notoriously tough opponent.
To make such a woman submit wholeheartedly cannot be explained by mere extraordinary talent.
With this conclusion in mind, Xing Chi followed the sheep girl around the T-shaped corridor and met a werewolf woman standing at the entrance of the hall.
Xing Chi immediately felt the coldness. She was a woman who had killed, who had unleashed her bloodline... the most dreadful quick-draw of the Werewolves.
Mrs. Jessica was mentioned in the reports for her strength, but the oppressive force she conveyed in person was far more intense than any report could convey to Xing Chi. It was no wonder that, Mrs. Matilda was patrolling the corridors. That was because an even stronger sister was guarding the entrance to the hall.
It also made Xing Chi fully understand the situation—the parlor close to the main castle of the Gallo family was the most secure direction. As a guest of the Gallo family, Malin could confidently leave this side to them.
On the other side, comparatively more importance would be placed.
"Lillim, who is he?" Mrs. Jessica’s voice was pleasant to the ear, but for Xing Chi, it sounded as though it carried a murderous intent—had Mrs. Lillim said a bad word about him, he would have been headless.
"He is an Observer of the Night Watch, responsible for liaising with Mr. Malin."
"That’s just right. There’s another Observer of the Night Watch in the hall. Let her confirm it," said Jessica as she turned and pushed open the door behind her—while doing so, her other hand rested where she could draw her Longsword the quickest.
Xing Chi smiled and nodded: "Good morning, Mrs. Jessica."
"Good morning, please come in." She nodded her head and stepped aside.
Lillim led Xing Chi into the hall.
He saw five girls.
The first, an elf with pointed ears, bore some features of the Sydneyans, likely Faye Mowish.
This lady was the most famous princess in the entire Western Human World. The reason for her fame was that in a mere few years, she had become a Mage approaching the seventh ring.
Such an accomplishment, when regarded over five centuries, placed her first; and looking back over a millennium, she ranked second.
Those princes were all eager to hear the news of Malin’s death, which seemed like a feasible option to Xing Chi, considering in duels where death was common, waiting for a miracle was understandable.
Too bad, a miracle is a miracle, and even if Malin died, such an outstanding widow would hardly choose to remarry—Malin Corporation’s name had already reached the Holy Kingdom, and while the Commerce Guild’s failure in Carterburg might have been exaggerated, overall, the taxes paid by this corporation each year were equal to one-third of Sydney’s total tax revenue.
So, Prince, keep dreaming.
Is it not good to be a wealthy widow, why marry these losers and endure a greatness far from that of a Frost Giant?
So the dreams of these fellows are destined to never come true, oh foolish humans. It’s good to have dreams, but delusions are not, and unrealistic imaginations will undoubtedly lead to disaster.
With such a sigh, Xing Chi turned his attention to another beastwoman.
This was a Panso feline humanoid, unlike the visibly noble Lady Faye, she seemed like the girl-next-door, with cuteness as her best descriptor, embracing four Snow Leopard Spirit cubs, she appeared completely harmless.
Of course, it would have been nice if the adult Snow Leopard Spirit beside her regarded Xing Chi a bit more gently.
Maya Gaiate, Malin’s adopted sister, a Panso cat person, said to be a favorite Apprentice of a great Divine Master. In The Great Forest Land’s direction, the Church did not invest much effort—beastmen, that is all they are. Since we are all civilized, the Church prefers to focus its efforts on the East and the South—Black Orcs that do not speak human language, zombies, Tide of the Dead, these are what the Church needs to understand.
Overall, a cute girl, but unfortunately, in Xing Chi’s view, still not as cute as his Luna, and the Spirit at her feet was too uncute. Please don’t look at him with those eyes that consider food.
The third one, her mutation was visibly manifest on her body. If she were in the Holy Kingdom, such a girl would likely have been tied to a stake without any chance to argue.
But in the Sydney Union, she became a master of Alchemy, recognized by the Mage Tower as one of the three great Mages of the past century, Lady Clovis, a pitiful Rabbitfolk, abandoned when young and picked up by her kinfolk who taught her to be a Mage, and eventually met Malin years ago.
A meeting that changed Fate. In Xing Chi’s view, if Malin hadn’t given her the Acorn, a girl with such a high degree of mutation was bound to die within a few years due to deeper mutations.
But now, there was no trace of mutation on her body, on the contrary, the scent of divine fruit wafted around her, and the beastly transformation stopped perfectly at her neck. This degree of mutation no longer seemed like a mutation but rather a kind of... blessing in a broader sense.
Some from Chaos and some from the divine, two forces created a subtle balance within her.
Really interesting.
Xing Chi then focused on the fourth individual, is that... a Domestic Fairy?
Oh, I remember now, there is indeed such a person in the Carterburg family, quite famous too, just updated in the intelligence reports, Lady Rewo.
When you think about it, Sydneyans really are too free. They dress freely, act freely, are even more liberal in business, and the choice of whom to be intimate with is also so free, to the extent that even someone like Rewo can emerge.
But it’s all right, at least she’s a civilized person—even though Lady Rewo doesn’t really to seem to fit in with humans, as a five-ring Mage of the Mage Tower, a bearer of the Lord of Justice’s grace, and the owner of the strongest pharmaceutical group on the continent, Xing Chi cannot imagine how fearsome an existence Malin could become by having gained a combination like Clovis and Rewo.
However, all of this does not concern Xing Chi. As he looked at the last one, there was not even a flicker in his heart.
Lulu Hagelberry, an outlier among the Night Watchers, if it were not for her Hagelberry surname, this girl might be better suited to be a purple-dressed person rather than one donning a Night Watcher’s uniform and flirting all over the place.
Yes, a girl, yet she flirts around, when you think about it, the Holy Kingdom is quite free too, isn’t it?
"Miss Hagelberry, this gentleman says he’s your colleague, is that right?" Lady Jessica’s voice came from behind.
"Yes, Sister Jessica, I know him, Mr. Xing Chi, a gentleman among the Night Watchers," the girl in front of him said, embracing Rewo with a look of complete satisfaction.
Please, you’re a woman too, you brat.
Xing Chi sighed inwardly and suddenly realized a problem—Mr. Malin’s interests seem rather unexpected, huh.
Foxfolk, Sheepfolk, Elves, Werewolves, Rabbitfolk, and also Catfolk and Fairies.
Not a proper human in sight, Mr. Malin, you have a problem.
Xing Chi began to worry about his Luna—what if this Demon took a liking to Luna?
Then he saw the thought-provoking smile on the face of the Hagelberry girl.
Hm... maybe adding another tomboy isn’t such a bad idea.
After all, the Night Watchers can always share what they have with each other.
Xing Chi remembered that his companion had come to connect with the Gallo family.
"Miss Hagelberry, it seems we could make a trade; I suddenly feel obliged to play matchmaker."
"Great, Mr. Xing Chi, do you have such plans too? It looks like I will owe you a favor personally."
The conversation between the two came to this point, not needing more words, they quickly exchanged their respective notices.
Thank the Night Watchers, they never write an extra letter when drafting documents.
"So, you’re meeting Mr. Anthony next, Mr. Xing Chi?" Lady Lillim had been watching the whole exchange ceremony between the two.
"Of course." Xing Chi nodded.
"That’s great, please follow me," Lady Lillim said, spreading her hands towards her sisters with an expression that seemed somewhat at a loss for words.
Xing Chi didn’t mind.
Being a matchmaker and satisfying mutual needs are the most beautiful blessings among the Night Watchers.
Please understand.
