Chapter 54: Forty-nine Chapters: Unfinished
"Milani! Bite your master awake!" Ignoring the gnome clinging to her leg, Sara watched as the dwarf’s headless body fell to the ground. In that instant, flesh turned to mud and shattered upon the floor.
At the same time, the elf also shattered on the floor, and the elf who dashed out of the shadows holding the dwarf turned to face Popoca, who had already jammed the barrel of his shotgun into that massive mouth, the iron gauntlet scratching against sharp teeth with a grating noise that set one’s teeth on edge.
However, through whatever means, Futaba had used her abilities to save herself and the anvil.
The tiny animal spirit, Milani, wriggled out from the gnome’s wild hair and bit the gnome’s forehead with her front teeth, pulling him back from possession.
"Who awoke Ganmu!" Sara turned her head to look at the different kind that appeared on the second floor—these pitiful dead had been transformed into undead monsters, and she had to get them under control first.
The little spirit, Milani, hopped off the gnome’s head. As a squirrel, she raced through the hall, scurried across the sofa, leaped onto the coffee table, circled around, and finally jumped onto Ganmu’s head, biting her ear fiercely.
Ganmu, struggling, screamed and clutched her ear.
The dwarf pulled her out of the lady’s attack range, who had transformed into a standard different kind, her arms becoming tentacle-like appendages. She screeched, attempting to join the battle against Popoca, but the elf restrained her actions by shooting her from the side.
Even though standard bullets couldn’t effectively harm her, at least she could not ignore the agony of bullets penetrating her shell.
Meanwhile, the dwarf moved the still confused Ganmu behind a pillar, tore a Silver Powder Grenade from his waist, and tossed it to the second floor. The explosion spread Silver Powder, which adhered to some of the undead and immediately set them ablaze.
By then, the gnome had come to his senses. Struggling to his feet, he drew his revolver from his waist and shot down two different kind, then turned to Sara and shouted, "The ceiling!"
Sara looked up to see a different kind clinging to the ceiling, just as it leaped down.
With no other choice, Sara inverted her grip on the shotgun, using it as a club, and sent the creature flying.
"Sara! Open our escape route!" Popoca finally yanked his hand free from that mouth, pushed it away, and commanded without looking back.
Sara, who was reloading, turned with a start—she was at the door, but when had she entered?! Startled, she cocked her head to the side, feeling the knife graze past her nose as a twisted-faced girl let out a shrill laugh near Sara’s ear, then seemed to melt into thin air with a backward leap.
Ganmu got to her feet from the ground, glanced around, and then screamed at the elf, "Futaba! Get out of the way quick!"
The elf promptly rolled away, but a kitchen knife stabbed into her back, the twisted-faced girl releasing a cackle as she let go, allowing the elf to fall into a blood pool made of her own blood.
The dwarf picked up a nearby candlestick holder and charged at the girl, striking her solidly with it, but to no effect. The candlestick seemed to come alive the next moment, one side coiling around the dwarf’s neck, the other climbing up a pillar, hanging the dwarf from it.
Why would Popoca betray everyone, Sara turned her head to look at her lover, only to see his eyes had turned completely black.

Contaminated by Chaos...
"Milani! Get back!" The half-human shouted, and then heard a noise from behind. He turned his head and saw an ugly different kind pouncing towards him. As he was knocked to the ground by its leap, he used his left arm to block the sharp teeth aiming for his head. In the next second, his arm was bitten off, but at that moment, a small squirrel latched onto the different kind’s head, biting and scratching, buying its master time to check the wound.
Black, tainted blood flowed from the stump of the half-human’s arm. In despair, he pulled out the grenade. Biting the safety pin in his mouth, he used all his strength, "Milani! Run!"
The small squirrel paused, screeched, and began to bite the different kind’s head again, before being slapped away by its owner.
Clenching his fist and watching the different kind’s gaping mouth launch at him, the half-human calmly placed the hand holding the grenade between his head and the creature’s maw.
As the different kind bit into the half-human’s head, an explosion and flames engulfed them both completely.
The different kind girl appeared beside Bobuka, tossing aside the werewolf head in her hand. She caressed the cheeks of her peer, "How interesting, I never imagined it would be you who lasted to the end."
Behind her, the dwarves hanging on the wall no longer struggled.
"Your boyfriend?" The girl patted his face, gave him a kiss, then turned to Sara, "You see, a combination like ours is a match. You, on the other hand, are totally unworthy of him."
Sara looked around at the different kind crawling on the ground, and tossed her shotgun to the floor: "You won."
"Of course, I won. From the moment you were outside the door, everything was under my control. Whether tricking you into revealing your hand or using the different kind to surround and kill you, it was all within my grasp."
"But you had to reveal your own hand. You can’t hide it any longer." Sara smiled, "You may have won now, but you’ve lost the future."
"And you don’t even have a future! Kill her!" The girl twisted her command.
The different kind leaped towards Sara, then scattered in mid-air, thrown back by her roaring fury.
With a barbarian’s roar, Sara knocked the approaching different kind away and charged at the girl like a bolt of lightning. As the girl panicked and tried to leap into the air, Sara let out another roar—no one would complain about her indiscriminate roar anymore.
The different kind girl’s powers were interrupted. The next second, Sara grabbed her left arm, and yanked it off her body with the other hand, then turned and used the arm to smack Bobuka, who was trying to rescue his new mistress. Sara winced from a pain in her waist and turned, landing a punch on the girl’s face. After a glance at the dagger in her side, Sara threw the girl to the ground, then raised her foot and stomped her head into the floor.
Bobuka, struggling to get up, stopped moving and then crashed to the floor. The other different kinds did the same, except for the tentacle lady-who began to scream and combust spontaneously.
Pitiful infected ones.
Sara stepped down again, then turned and headed towards the main door.
She needed to go out and tell the elders of the Church what had truly transpired here.
```
Sara took a few steps, then her leg gave way, and she knelt on the ground.
Propping herself up with both hands, Sara glanced at the wound on her waist — black blood was trickling out.
It was only at this moment that the girl finally burst into tears.
......
Malin jumped off the carriage some distance from the destination, as a team of Tech Hunters was blocking the road. A young man among them saw Malin, "Hey, kid! Hurry back! A wave of different kind spiritual energy just erupted ahead! It’s very dangerous!"
"That’s what I’m here for." Malin slipped past the roadblock they’d set up, "Old Carman, I haven’t seen Domingo’s second son, nor have I seen his horse."
"That shouldn’t be." The old man jumped down from the carriage, took out a sword, a revolver, and two speed loaders filled with bullets from the weapon box, and handed them to Malin, "I’m old, and never had much skill in combat. From here on out, you’re on your own, sir."
"Are you crazy, old man! He’s still just a child!"
"He’s also a Frost Giant’s half-blood."
Malin took the sword and slung it on his back, then hooked the large-caliber revolver on his waist, and strode toward the mansion.
"You must be insane! Can’t you wait for reinforcements?!" the young man yelled after him.
Malin turned his head, "I am their reinforcements," and then he went on his way without looking back.
With every two steps he took, a blessing he had cast on himself would land on his head, until he walked into the garden. Finally, the last Blessing of Strength gave Malin one final boost, and he kicked open the mansion’s front door.
The first sight that met his eyes was that of Sara sitting on a coffee table, motionless while holding Bobuka’s corpse.
Then there were the Dwarves, one of whom had been hanged from a pillar by a twisted metal rod.
Next was an elf, a girl with a kitchen knife stuck in her back and a dagger in her chest, looking to be made of silver; evidently, she had tried to prevent her transformation into the different kind by these means before dying.
Last was the head of a Werewolf on the floor, beside the carpet, and the headless corpse of a Werewolf girl not far away.
He didn’t see the Half-human, but things did not bode well.
Malin fell silent for a moment, then clapped his hands.
Sara, who had been looking down, now lifted her head, her eyes devoid of whites, staring fixedly at Malin.
Malin took a quick look at her, then noticed a piece of paper in her hand.
As she stood up, the paper fell from her hand to the ground, and as she moved forward, the paper was blown to Malin’s feet.
Malin bent down and picked up the paper.
From the other side, Sara started growling softly. She didn’t head for Malin but towards the weapon rack on the wall.
Malin glanced at the paper, the handwriting on it somewhat distorted.
Everyone is dead, and I have been contaminated too, but we have cleansed the Chaos.
Those contaminated by Chaos without timely treatment have only one path left: death.
So, I beg of you, purify us.
...At least, let us die together.
Malin looked up to see Sara already taking two longswords from the weapon rack.
Her leather armor began to turn black, and gradually, it shifted into the semblance of a wedding dress. No longer growling – the newly transformed undead bride stood in silence, facing Malin.
By this time, Malin had straightened Bobuka’s body and poured Fire Gel over his head.
As flames ignited Bobuka’s remains, the undead bride began to scream.
Malin drew the longsword from his back, discarded the scabbard, and swung it, beheading Bobuka.
The undead bride screamed and charged at Malin.
The remains of a beloved were the greatest weakness of an undead bride,
They would fight to the death against any who desecrated their remains.
And that was exactly what Malin had been hoping for.
"Let’s complete the duel we never finished," he said.
Having said that, Malin raised the longsword in his hand as the undead bride closed in on him.
